I heard of a tactic when you have a bluefish on your plug a good striper could be following it. Let the line go slack, so the bluefish comes free, keep working the plug and the bass might hit it. Pretty similar to what happened at the end there when you caught that really nice bass! Great vid Jonny!
never heard of that before but that very well could have happened. It felt like I had a blue, dropped it, then picked up a striper soon after
Awesome vid as usual! One tip though, don't put the circle hook through the lower jaw.. the bunker will suffocate because they need their mouths open to circulate oxygen in the gills correctly. Pop the hook through the upper lip only, leaving the mouth free to open. Or you can bridle it

Live bait is the way to go. Do you ever fish eels ? I’ve busted some big bass on them.

Use a more substantial rod and dont stress your fish so much. You will save lots of fish for next year.

what cove are you fishing in? And what kayak are you using?
How are you liking the Circle hooks? Do you still find some gut hooked?
Occasionally when I chunk some bass do get gut hooked but definitely less than J hooks
Could you tell me what you are using for line? Braid with a mono leader ??

30 lb braid tied to a 40lb flouro leader. I use softsteel for both they are really solid

That is the Okuma ITX spinning reel with the SRT rods. Great set up for what he is doing!
