Silvesterchlausen part 1 Urnäsch 31.12.2022

After 2 years of Corona Pandemic, I came back to Urnäsch on Saturday, December 31st, 2022 to experience the New Year's Eve. Most people were in the village center in front of the church, where food and drink were offered at various stands. The "Schuppel" roam from house to house bringing well wishes and showing off their best by singing, souring and ringing and rolling the bells. The "beauties" attract attention with their filigree decorated hats and bonnets, the creation of which takes many hours of work. The "desert" with its fearsome larvae are dressed in animal skins, have animal horns on their heads and the "Schö-Wüeschte" or "Naturchläuse" present their natural works and have a robe made of fir branches and also hats with depictions of their lives and a rootstock in hand. In a workshop you could see the wonderful bonnets and hats of the "beauty", which are made of special materials.
