Currently making Jam Melon jam from this recipe as I can’t find an actual ‘jam melon’ recipe online. It was once hugely popular here in Australia, and I was thrilled to find a jam melon for sale so grabbed it to try and make some. Plenty of recipes for melon jam, but nothing specifically for Jam Melons.
Unfortunately the film does not specify the type of melon used. Perhaps it is a citron melon, which is commonly used for making jam - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citron_melon
@@ACMICollection but the melon in the video is not red seeded, i’ve read only red seeded melon can be consumed, the others are poisonous. a bit hesitate to try make my own jam melon now as i have plenty in my backyard but they are not red seeded melon:(
Thank you for sharing this looks delicious 👌❤️
I want to try this!
It’s a Jam Melon. It was a very popular recipe in Australia years ago. I found one last week; I am in the process of making this recipe right now.
I’d love to know the year of this video?
Hi Peter. Thank you for your interest. The film stock used for this print indicated it was from 1957. Have you ever made Melon Jam?
@@ACMICollection no I was just curious about the era of the clip

Any idea what time of melon is this? It looks like a watermelon but i believe it’s not...

It's a Citron Watermelon or wild watermelon. It's native to Africa and was brought over and grows wild in the citrus groves of Florida.
It’s called a jam melon in Australia. A hugely popular recipe once. I’m making some jam with one at the moment.
