The first one only applies to cars with torque converter, and the amount of heat is negligible compared to normal operation. Dual clutch transmissions fully disengage clutch when you slow down and engage it after you press gas(just like you would do in manual car)
Actually towing in neutral is bad too. For long distance you need to disconnect the axle because the bearings will run dry and wear out. (To my knowledge)
@@colenicholsmost cars do not get towed more than 25 miles, if more or more complicated trans systems, they are towed on a flat bed in Park position(if automatic) or neutral with park brake engaged. Both of which would be strapped down to the flat bed.

I feel this is more likely if you’re towing your own car by truck or RV which then comes back to the owner being a dumbass and not looking into it.
