  • “Ethnic Conflict: Comparative Logics, Prospects of Transformation”
Professor Jennifer Todd, UCD, delivered the 2022 Frank Wright Memorial Lecture on Thursday 10 March 2022, in Queen's University Belfast.
Frank Wright’s major comparative analysis addressed big questions concerning the logics of colonial systems, ethnic division, internal conflict and how ethnic conflict can be controlled but seldom - following Girard - transformed. His posthumously published “Two Lands on One Soil” may point to other possibilities.
In this talk Professor Todd returns to these questions in light of new comparative evidence and theory and identify openings for transformation, showing how they are exemplified also in Northern Ireland.
