An incredible production. Very solid animation and the adaptation of the Dragon Ball Z story to an RPG-type game was fantastic. Utlising 'filler' and 'non-cannon' parts of dragon ball for actual parts of this game's world. Incorporating future of trunks, cooler, new namek, searching the world for dragon balls, the red ribbon army (and another of other ideas and characters taken from the original dragon ball) etc. Because this game is a story-based adventure, not a fighting game, there is no need for 'balance'. Super Trunks really does have reduced speed. SSJ2 Gohan really does move faster and hit harder. And while there is a necessity to grind to an extensive degree to max out your character levels, there is no need for this to complete the story itself, and it is incredibly satisfying playing through with Gohan, starting as the weakest, but through maxed out levels and the use of capsules, is the only character to be able to have fully maxed stats. This game will have an average player dying many times, so when you finish the game, it becomes incredibly satisfying to be able to explore the world freely and effortlessly demolish every enemy in the world. Unlike many other Dragon Ball Z games, this game's RPG build allows for a much more adventure-fueled take on the story. You don't simply only participate in each significant battle, it's up to you to treck between each location, train up to be strong enough to handle the battles, explore the world and all it's cute side quests. This game will always be among the first games I ever played, and ten years later I finally found myself with an income of my own to buy all the movies. I watch a bit of TFS every day, i'm watching super now, and I can only dream that one day a next gen game will come around with the spirit of the legacy of goku II.

I agree with you 100%. I really wish there is a proper DB RPG game made with modern technology. FighterZ is great, but I feel that the story element of the whole DB franchise is missing.
HellzHonour didn’t we all? It’s the reason my first playthrouh ended in failure. I used cheats to skip that part.. when I got to the Cell Games, Goku’s portraits were now Gohan’s and I got stuck after Gohan tried to fight Cell for the first time.
All the music in this game is great. It really goes with everything super well in the game, it also brings back memories of playing it in the car or wherever and whenever possible
I hope the upcoming Dragon Ball game "Project Z" Will be a remake of Legacy of Goku games. Honestly it's unbelievable how underrated LoG games are...well maybe with the exceptiof of the first LoG game, but LoG2 and Buu's Fury are 10/10 RPGs.
Playing through LoG2 now for the first time. It reminded me how great the Cell Saga was whereas other games just focus on 17 and 18, perfect Cell, etc.
Well, DBZ Kakarot ended up close enough, I guess. Not exactly the same or a true remake, but it's got a similar sort of spirit and gameplay to the LOG games

My greatest memory of this game is using cheats to have all of the character in the beginning and then have Hercule find Goku in the woods. Hercule: “Dad? Is it really you?” Frieza: “Your Father is a Loser!” Hercule: “No! NO! NO!”
Buu's fury played more refined. The portraits in this game are not that good, certain parts of the game like the dino eggs, the punching combat is not that refined, super saiyan uses regular energy so you can't enjoy using it as much, the special beam attacks were usually not worth using because they were costly for the low amount of damage. Don't get me wrong, really enjoyed this game. But it was not flawless.
I loved this game. I got Vegeta to level 50 before fighting Android 19, because I loved the southern continent music. I killed him in 2 punches lol. One thing I did learn, if Gohans level is low enough, even with the super saiyan 2 health regeneration, he can be killed by Cell.
Gohan is also the only character who achieve a perfectly maxed out stat line. He’s the worst early, mid-game, and nearly all of the end-game character but the PERFECT post game character if you use capsules correctly on him.
I was brought this game by a teenager from another school in school in like 5th grade during a thing they called big brother program and I fell right the fuck in love with dbz this game is too good
there are 2 parts that are rng that makes it kind of difficult. the first part is when enemies are going to attack. after you get close enough to them, the game starts checking every frame if they are going to attack or not if they are not in hitstun, and all melee attacks in this game hit on frame 1. if you get past that, the second part of rng is what direction and how far the enemy goes when you punch them. so sometimes midfight in here stutter steps were used not only to manipulate for crits, but to also manipulate what direction the enemy went when punched. most of the time though we just walked to get in the right position to continue as seen in the android 19 fight. it is doable as RTA runners use the technique for as long as they can when the opportunity to do so arises

I think the hardest fight for me when I played the game as a kid was Piccolo's Cell Jr. fight. He was just so underleveled since at that point it had been a long while since I'd used him.

@@mcwilem i know its a year old comment i am replying to, but just want to clarify that is not cheated it is actually a glitch. there is a 1 frame window before the text starts when vegeta flies into that cutscene that you can do anything you want. bonecrusher and i took advantage of that 1 frame to start charging big bang attack. during cutscenes your energy does not drain which lets the big bang attack get charged for a long time while in super saiyan (which gives about +10 to all of your stats when you are in it on top of increased movement speed).

I don't mind looking at it when I have the chance. Even though this was my first major TAS project, I may be able to give you some tips cause early on in the project I wasn't very good. Where is the best way to contact you and get the movie file? Don't be discouraged if your run was projected to be a lot slower, if it wasn't for Amphorce this never would've gotten done. It took a lot of routing and team work to come up with strategies as opposed to just copying the RTA record.
