I'm rewatching these clips and I am just overwhelmed with sadness and sorrow. La Toya seemed so depressed and down. I am not sure how Geraldo and Howard Stern were able to allow La Toya to leave their studios with Jack after he openly said he beat her. Man. These men have no balls.
I wish it were like that, and some hero could have saved the day...but unfortunately, with abuse victims, even when you tear them apart, they go right back to the abuser. You have to see that within the context of what the music business was like back then. There was much better talent out there and it made La Toya’s come out inevitably marginal by comparison. She went to a recording studio ( I'm assuming Flyte Tyme Studios / Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis ) when Janet was recording her " Janet " album. Latoya didn't think to remove her headset since she was trying to get away, went to Janet & asked her for help. Janet saw the headset, and got into a altercation with Latoya & didn't help her. I think LaToya should have had the courage to push herself.
You have to see that within the context of what the music business was like back then. There was much better talent out there and it made La Toya’s come out inevitably marginal by comparison. It also doesn’t help the various producers and songwriters La Toya had to work with and the material they gave her to sing.

It also real sad to hear about her past troubled upbringing as a young girl! She seemed extremely Outspoken and informative about the way her Parents treated her during her childhood and young adult years! She sounds like she is extremely close to her mother than she is about her dad! The dad was the person responsible for the abuse that she spoke truthfully about in more than one interview as a guest on previous talk shows on RUclips channel! There were also past Dance shows on the RUclips from back in the late 70's or 80's that have NOT Seen before where she is a singing guest! The program called 'American Bandstand' which back in the 80's when I was a only 8 years old (a young girl back in the day)!. I use to enjoy watching these shows once in a while during the weekends at home! She looked sooo much better and SOOO PRETTY! She had a Cute Nose! So did her Younger sister Janet! When Latoya was hosting the segment of the show ( Which I think was her calling because look at how natural she interacting with folks, she should've definitely had her own 90's talk show that would air after the soap opera such as " All My Children " " One Life To Live " , and have the " Sally Jesse Raphael " show, I could see the theme song being the " Sexual Feeling " Remix intro when they keep saying " La Toya " right before the beat drops ) You can tell how at ease she felt with Geraldo, when Jack wasn't around. As if a huge dark cloud was no longer over her. I think at this point when Latoya was standing up for herself, she knew that this " relationship " was going to come to a head and either it kills her, or it won't be easy to escape but she has to do it. This is when alot of people are killed when they are in abusive relationships. When the escape route is about to take place, it becomes extremely dangerous.

She went to a recording studio ( I'm assuming Flyte Tyme Studios / Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis ) when Janet was recording her " Janet " album.
Latoya didn't think to remove her headset since she was trying to get away, went to Janet & asked her for help. Janet saw the headset, and got into a altercation with Latoya & didn't help her. ( 1:02:54 mark )
I think that's why Latoya was saying that Janet was taking it hard because she didn't realize what was going on. It's one of those things in life where we reflect back and realized things could've been handled different without jumping the gun so fast. We're all human, I'm glad that Janet reached out and did end up close again. I remember seeing Janet hanging out with LaToya alot during the " Damita Jo " area. When the Superbowl incident happen. I remember Toya saying " Jan called me right after it happened " and was saying how she had to calm Janet down from being sad from the incident.
