Talent is the result of skill. I'd rather say that Talent is skill thats refined and free due to recurring practice. But you're right that skill is a make or break of a journey.

Talent is a pursued interest. Even that 3 year old drawing screams "I am an artist." I believe every single one of the drawings is real art, because it takes one to see another.
yo! obv you were showing talent and working on things and really good at a young age. But, I don’t know exactly what happened at 15, looks like that’s when you really came out your shell, that progression from 14-15 was crazy. Really cool you saved all these , really interesting to be able to see that progression. Your work is amazing.
Thats really good, the progression is amazing at such a young age. I had a friend in elementary school who could copy photos of people quite accurately (not photorealistic but close) in 4/5th grade. He went to a different school after 5th grade so i dont know if he kept at it.
You can use things like tape for the really clean borders, in fact a ton of artists do for things like water color or any type of paint, it just makes it easier and looks good. As for why they are dated, most artists date/sign their art so they can either look back of it and see progression or to make sure others don't steal their work.
