Isn't Valdr the one hunter who you helped him kill Spriggans to retrieve his friends bodies for burial? It's near Falkreath right? So I'm guessing that you're in the Dead Man's drink tavern, or whatever it's called, right?

They know you've forgotten, but as they tell the tale, you'll remember, and they'll be happy you remember that day. And everyone around will hear the tale. And your glory will grow.

Valdr is actually hired to cradle you gently and he'll even sing a lullaby to you if you ask. He has the softest, sweetest singing voice ever.

I still find it funny how Astrid managed to sneak you out of an inn(if you sleep there after receiving the letter) without arousing any amount of suspicious, especially since she is carrying a three hundred pound or more heavily armored tank through the middle of town.
She managed to sneak me out of Fort Dawnguard! And someone else out Castle Volkihar!.That women must have a lot of invisibility, sleeping, and strength potions to haul a Kahjit in full dragon bone armour and 400+ Ibs of other shit out of what has got to be one of/ the best guarded place in Skyrim! And then take them on a several day/week long journey across Skyrim!

the first ever time i got kidnapped by Astrid was right out of my home while i was sleeping next to my wife (either lydia or mjoll, cant remmeber which) with my children and housecarl in the next room, and i would love to see in universe how she pulled it off lol

Valdr and his friends went into a cave while hunting bears. Unfortunately, the cave was also home to a group of spriggans, who killed Valdr's friends (they came loaded for bear, not supernatural wolver-ents). The quest is titled "Hunter and Hunted" (because he and his friends started as the first thing and ended up the second). You can heal him or give him a potion (he's hurt too bad to stand unless you do). He asks you to kill the spriggans so he can retrieve his friends' bodies and give them a proper burial so they can reach Sovngarde. In gratitude, he gives you Valdr's Lucky Dagger, which Ari (one of his friends) crafted for him. It has a non-magical bonus to chance to cause a critical hit.
Tl;dr: you healed him and cleared a cave so he could bury his friends properly after they were ambushed.
“Oh, you come with the room?!”
“I thought you came with mine…”
"Or we both come with this inn room."
He's the guy that checks under your bed for the Boogeyman. Then promptly disembowels him.

Valdr, the Redguard with blonde hair, a Nord’s name, and a voice that it more befitting for a thin merchant than a sell sword. What a legend.

I remember doing a quest to find an NPC's missing sweet roll. He loved me for finding his sweet rolls.

It was actually common in medieval times to share a room and bed with another person in an inn

He's there to provide the complimentary snuggles.
The dagger he gives you is some of the best kit in the game. Definitely one of the 4-5 weapons that's always in my inventory.

Tavern coexists with the local prostitutes. They get a free room to sleep in but if somebody actually rents the room they have to do the job.

He gunna make sure your body is pleased.
By the way, His dagger instills "luck" when weilding it, giving you a better critical bonus amd a higher critical chance. This stacks when duel wielding it with the one shank dagger from the Mythic Dawn quests, Instantly more than doubling the odds of a one shot, this can be futher increased with the shrouded gloves and similar apparel, then use the slow time shout and have a field day not having to worry about combat anymore.

Fun fact: Valga is a town in Estonia. It's cut in half by the border, so the Latvian side is called Valka
The first inn when i had a stay was that inn in Riverwood, the rented room is located at the left side from the bartender, and since then its been quite a habit everytime i go to inn, after heard the "sure its yours for a day" I'll go to the left side of the inn, lol
I dunno why but I remember exactly which room it is in every single inn. I also had a "Become a bard" mode for a very long time. With this mode you can sleep in the dark elves's Inn in Windhelm.
Plot twist: When you wake up you find Valga lying beside you under the same blanket.

For anyone still wondering who this is, he's the injured guy you find outside moss mother cavern. You have the option to heal him with a potion or spell and then you can wipe out the spriggans in the cave as a quest. Upon completion of this quest, he'll reward you with the unique steel dagger "Valdr's lucky dagger" which has a 25% chance of doing a critical hit.
Valdur is the guy outside that cave that I didn’t have any health potions for so he died. Guess I can’t ever finish that side quest.
You can heal him with spells too

I’ve been playing Skyrim since the day it released, and I can 100% promise this is exactly what it’s like. You see the name, recognize that you may or may not have seen it before, but have done so much for everyone that you’re like “who the absolute fuck is this”
