Hi Marty, Dan here in San Diego...again. Finding some time to work with my electric and back to Europa. Thanks for being a good and fun teacher. I don't have a lot of time to practice because I work full time and am raising my granddaughters, but when I grab my guitar it is nice to know you are always there. Had a good session this evening. Thanks man.

Marty, all I can say is thank you. GREAT job.
That last little run at the end, working your way down the bass could use a little more explanation but that is NOT a complaint. GREAT job.
You brought Carlos down to a level even a tyro like me can make sound not terrible and that's all I ever ask.

I was watching the video that the link below takes you to, and when you showed that to play the scale faster you employ the little hammer on pull of technique. My mind was blown, I realized I couldn't do the scale as fast as I wanted to because I was trying to pick all the strings fast. This is gonna help me big time. Thanks Marty!

Awesome job Marty, you make it very "learnable"! Thanks for your constant repitition of each previous segment, it makes it possible for us "hackers" to work through it. This is such a nice piece to play and reflect on. thanks again.

There I was. 1978. Bonanza Sirloin Pit, 6100 Roswell Road. Atlanta GA. 30328. I was working the fryer when Carlos Santana came in for dinner one Thursday evening. I cooked him the all-you-can-eat country fried steak dinner with mashed potatoes chicken gravy and texas toast. True story. This means a lot to me, not sure if y’all care, it’s cool either way. Whenever I’ve watched an interview with Santana since then, I’ve gotten a deep peak into reality so I got that going for me which is nice.

What Santana actually does is before the show, during practice, he walks around his amp till he finds the spot where he gets the most distortion/feedback, puts a piece of tape on the floor, and will go to that spot when he needs to sustain a note. Watch him live and you'll see that he goes to that spot all the time.
