It took 3 months to finish this personal project. A lot of research went into this in order to depict as historically accurate as possible the arrival of the Spanish army to the Aztec capital Tenochtitlan for the first time. I'm aware the original city was bigger, but the project was getting so heavy for my computer to handle so I had to cut content.
This project was done in 3ds Max, Vray and Blender. Comped in Nuke and Davinci for Color grade.
Wtf why is this not a 3 hour long epic historical movie???
Budget
it has too many nuances in the geo-politics to cram within 2-3 hours,
and if they really do without romanticizing as well as without any bias it wouldn't be so epic, there wont be no heroes rather just a buncha high schemers from all sides that were so sucessfully sneaky that their names are not even famed
I would love to see an actual movie depicting the ancient Mexican civilization leading up to the event of the Spanish invasion. Mexico-Tenochtitlan was a work of art!
@@lalurivera5284ya and human sacrifice still happen with crusades, inquisitions, witch burnings. The christian god loves human sacrifice 😂 just look at the old testament
Mel Gibson has to direct it. Have Javier Bardem play Cortes and Tenoch Huerta play Moctezuma.
I wrote a whole 90 page script about a famous warrior named Tzilacatzin, for a screen writing class. It takes place in this magical city and is based on a true story. I wish I could actually shoot this film 😭😭
0:33 Love how they put Cortés banner in here. Virgin Mary wearing a golden crown with 12 stars. Well done!
It is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for this!
Not accurate though. The amazing part is that in reality they didn't bring all that many horses as it was such a long voyage and that's a lot of grain and water to keep on board for the horses. The Spaniards were also very few in number, they were however veterans and had not only superior armor and weaponry but most importantly highly sophisticated military strategists with them. The Aztek by contrast had only ritualized warfare, where virtually no strategy was involved whatsoever, just scream and charge. The Spanish were playing chess while the Aztek were playing with themselves.
@@BoopSnoot of course it’s not accurate. Tenochtitlan was so much larger. There were chinampa districts destined to process human waste from the city (200,000 residents by the time the Spanish arrived) and use it later on as fertilizer for the chinampas allocated for crops. It was an absolute marvel of eco-friendly technology unseen by any European city at the time and for several centuries later. London had around 50,000 residents by the same year. And no, the Aztecs didn’t see war as they saw it in Europe, the countless cities and communities across the Americas never developed complex war machines because distances and geography would just require too much effort and resources. I invite you to be more critical when sharing phrases like: “just scream and charge” or “playing with themselves”.
Middle-easterners long before learned the dangers of using human waste for fertilizer (as well as pig since they are so similar to humans), and passed this on to the Europeans, who also used fertilizer but animal fertilizer as most horse/bovine parasites are not designed to attack humans. The Aztecs certainly had a war machine, its how they earned the hatred of all of their neighbors that the Spanish later recruited into their military forces. They just weren't sophisticated and organized. It certainly wasn't because they were peace loving, in fact quite the opposite as they were unusually brutal and most of their wars were because of petty squabbles between members of their nobility or as a distraction blaming religious superstitions to justify mass-genocide rather logical combat over resources. @@CarlosChavez-eq9sp
@@BoopSnoot by contrast Spaniards were dirty af and carried a multitude of deadly diseases from living in filthy conditions compared to natives who bathed and washed hands. This brought unto the natives all at once ;brought them to their knees
It's astonishing that no one has made a proper movie about this, the most amazing event in the history of the human race.
If they did make a movie, it would have to be done right. The native peoples should be seen as weak-minded and frail, and suffering from years of ritualistic sacrifice. Then, the noble Spanish ride into the city and start building hospitals and schools. That sounds like a Hollywood blockbuster!
Iam wishing for years that movies or games would feature this part of history
@@Surprise_Inspectionumm what😂
@@Surprise_Inspectionand show the noble Spaniards raping women and slaughtering innocent children and men, and enslaving the survivors to be worked to death on farms. And then all the while show them dying off from an incurable disease
@@Surprise_Inspectionagreed finally someone who knows what they are talking about 🙏🏼
First time seeing it with realistic visuals instead of those cardboard cutouts from The History Channel
Such a beautiful city just destroyed like its nothing
Well, they did wipe out three quarters of the Spanish Army in a battle that lasted three months. Only truly succumbing to starvation and attrition in the end.
Say what you will, the Aztecs went down swinging.
The most beautiful. Nothing in history comes close. Mexico has produced nothing near it in 500 years
@@ramon2008 Well they should stop embracing Hispanic architecture and bring back some pre invader architecture

Felicidades. Ojalá Cuarón la dirigiera!!
I can recommend a documentary video by Fall of Civilizations: "9. The Aztecs: A Clash of Worlds (Part 1 of 2)"
True history was babies getting their heads chopped off so the sun came up in the morning
@@Jonpo You forgot to mention the Spaniards burning people alive in the name of their god. It is very convenient to see just one side of things.
This ain't the history of Mexico. This is the history of the nation and people that was where today's Mexico exist, but that no longer exist as a nation or culture.

Segun Yo Eran 500 Españoles, 1000 Tlaxcaltecas y 600 Totonacas Incluido Otros Ciudades - Estado

But literal hell for those opposing the city-state regime of Tenochtictlan, being a sacrificial slave.

@@josele317 So? What're you trying to say? That the Aztec's action is justifiable just because it's the norm? Sure, it's the norm, but that's unacceptable norm even in that time by many societies too. Slavery isn't just happened because exploitation of the black people, instead exploitation of those in the lower social caste that are deprived from basic living. Slavery happens to any kind of ethnic and culture, it's basically only seen as severe economic divide that being shrouded by masquerade of faith and norm as means of its justification.
No te pases!! Esta súper chingon!!!!
La batalla tendría que ser épica
Stunning isn't a strong enough word to summarise this piece of art. Phenomenal work, must have taken an incredible amount of effort!

This recreation is cool but not even close to accurate. The artist made it waaaay too small, and the details aren't even close to realistic.
If you want to see what Tenochtitlan actually looked like, you'll love Thomas Kole's Tenochtitlan recreation that he recently published a couple days ago. It is breathtaking stuff, and gets all the details correct.
Look up Thomas Kole Tenochtitlan project
It would be awesome to see a movie about Cortes’s Conquest of Mexico made like Beowulf from 2007, realistically animated, with motion capture, this awesome video reminds me of that.
Wow this is great! I don’t really know too too much about Tenochtitlan but I plan on reading about it soon!

I want to know if i could use parts of this video for ilustrating my musical works
Thank you very much this is spectacular!!!!!
I still can't believe how those fucking monsters destroyed this beutiful city and dried it's grat lake. This should be considered as a crime against humanity.
I still can't believe that the Spanish would have saved that city with the worst possible infrastructure in the worst terrain.
The new city (Mexico City) built over this is still suffering from this to this day. Whenever there is an earthquake, the damage and shaking is amplified because most of the buildings are built on the dry lake bed that was drained after they destroyed the Aztec capitol.
It’s astounding that The Mexica Were able to build a place like that out in the middle Lake Texcoco
I know that one of the methods They used was the construction of Chinampas, but I feel that there Was more to it than that. I’d like to know more about what they Did to construct the city
Not a phone in sight just people living in the moment
