Love to see someone else going for the Essentials set. As someone who collected the set years ago let me just say that, yes it's very easy and smooth at the beginning but once you're halfway there you'll realise that half the ones you're missing you'll have to import. Some of them are incredibly hard to find as well. My list has 212 releases but what I've learned is that there's no way to be absolutely sure there isn't another one out there. The Wikipedia list is also very much incomplete and also has a few games in it that don't have a confirmed Essentials release I think but maybe that has been updated in the meantime. I got a vid on my channel with the set if you want a reference but since then four new Essentials were found so it's not actually complete. Despite the pain near the end it was still a very enjoyable journey and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did :) PS: Not every Essentials version also has an Essentials disc. It's only a few but they do exist.
Ah mate I won't lie I'm probably going to rip this idea right off lol I've been wondering what to do about ps3 I want some form of collection but don't want to go full hog like with some other the other consoles I have in my games room and this seems like a good shout

Never thought about going for this collection before… I must admit the Red spines look so smart! Much better than the old grey covers/spines from previous generations. It’s got me thinking now!
More shelves to rejig in a few short weeks 😂 I came late to Uncharted myself, I did however play through all 3 back to back for less than a fiver literally 2 years ago. Uncharted went from something I knew about to one of my most favorite franchises (need a Vita now for the handheld game). Good luck buddy and enjoy the hunt 👍
There seems to be a 'snobbery' among collectors for having to have the origional 'black label' release and not the budget re-releases on platinum etc. I love the later release platinum or essentials as they are all ways cheaper to buy and often have the updated versions/patches on the disk due to being produced years later than the original release!! 👍
Not sure on this one mate lol. I get it from the stand point of wanting to have a subset and it’s a collecting goal so it gives you something to focus on, plus they’re cheap which is a bonus. Though I think you’re gonna end up with a lot of filler titles that won’t appreciate in value that much and just take up room on you’re shelves. I remember something you said once about wanting to buy stuff that you hope will go up in value. Yea some of these will, but not to a great degree. Though that’s just my opinion mate and the best of luck on the journey and I look forward to the day when you get them all :). Take it easy.
I live the way they look mate, very enthuses by it and the prospect of finding games at a CEX again. In terms of space the ones I own on already as standard editions will be swapped out, and in terms of appreciating in value, I see it as relative to value... the vast majority of these games are extremely cheap so .... im not too worried about appreciation of a £1.50 investment. Yeah really looking forward to the journey mate, thanks as always for watching ny friend, I tested out the Super Advantage last night!

There is something aesthetically pleasing about red spines, over the yellow plats. Also keep an eye out for the essential exclusives....in particular Midnight Club Complete edition exists only on the Platinum or the essentials range. So make sure the disc is the essentials disc or you've been short thrifted on content. Happy hunting
Omg brilliant! I have always said ppl are too negative about these “Greatest Hits” type releases. From the preservation pov, they’re the best ones! They often come with updates on-disc, sometimes also with DLC on-disc, etc. Good luck dude!!
South park games are amazing! Very funny. Very relaxing to play. Hope you enjoy it enough to get the sequel one day! And yes. Far Cry 3 is the best. Incredible story/gameplay experience.
I've played Fallout new vegas on pc & xbox never playing it on ps3 though its great seeing you allbfired up for a new venture haha next you can do nintendo selects for the wii 😊
They do look good on the shelf when there's a few of them the red pops . I'm 1 of the few that has never played a Uncharted game I was to much into cod in the ps3 era
It’s a great shout collecting these sub sets, they made the title as platinum or essentials for a reason because they are the best sellers. For a retro gamer what a great place that is to start to fork a collection of absolutely bangers! If a games sold enough to make an essential or platinum list then you know it must be a good decent game. Not collectible I guess because they are mass produced therefor common. Definitely a fun sub set , enjoy the journey you may discover some games you have yet to try ✌️

Great video! Speaks a lot to the fact that gaming/collecting doesn’t necessarily have to be an expensive habit. Of course everyone has those special, high price titles that they want, but ultimately this video shows that when the budget is tight, there’s still fun to be had for a lot less money.
I can’t lie I’m personally not a fan of the platinum/essentials/classics box designs/box art but all power to you for setting yourself this awesome challenge fingers crossed you get it done

Literally just chopped in like half of my PS3 collection into cex. Had quite a few in there. I like the spines on them but hate the fronts of the cases.

Yeah those red spines look nice and uniform, much better than a mishmash of different spines that they had on the ps3, good idea really as they’re all games worth having rather than just collecting ps3 fodder, I used to actively swap out platinum games on the ps1 etc, good idea looks sweet now 🔥

I think most won’t have there DLC. As they’re essentially just repressing a of the original releases. Though there may be some anomalies if they release the GOTY or complete editions of their respective games.

Red spines look amazing. However, I sold my PS3 collection because every game requires a download so in the future at some point I have a feeling you won’t be able to play them. PS4 games can all be played offline so I’ve started collecting for that now instead.

the playstation classics from America with the red boxes are nice! the bonus for some of the essentials is you get all the bug patches, and sometimes the DLC on disk too. The thing i am surprised people do not collect more, is the Switch code in the box.... or more accurately, the ones that never got a card release. i think they will become very sort after. you should go for the singstar ps3 rainbow too ;)

Yeah from what little research I made about Greatest Hits and from what little I remember about the Vita I never heard of that branding for those games. It would have been neat, but that handheld never caught on which is a shame.

I found the essentials range look hideous in my opinion 😂, platinum looked pretty classy. I avoid the essentials to be fair, I got sent a copy of Kingdom Hearts essential when I ordered normal edition and was gutted. However it does look good on the shelf together and those prices are amazing.
🤣 yeah I get that, especially when it's just 1 or 2 in with the standard collection... I love red though, I think the Switch games look great which in part inspired my new venture

I've not started a ps3 collection yer. I think my wife would murder me lol What I've started doing is trying to secure any xbox 360 titles that I want that are not backwards compatible on the xbox one between now and July next year when the 360 marketplace shuts down.

Yeah from what little research I made about Greatest Hits and from what little I remember about the Vita I never heard of that branding for those games. It would have been neat, but that handheld never caught on which is a shame.

I found the essentials range look hideous in my opinion 😂, platinum looked pretty classy. I avoid the essentials to be fair, I got sent a copy of Kingdom Hearts essential when I ordered normal edition and was gutted. However it does look good on the shelf together and those prices are amazing.
🤣 yeah I get that, especially when it's just 1 or 2 in with the standard collection... I love red though, I think the Switch games look great which in part inspired my new venture

To me the ps3 platinum hits look hidious the ps3 essentials are a vast improvement though.
