Australia had many shows with Wogs making fun out of themselves. Its like a genre.. Can't remember the show names but I will allways remember 'Effie' the female character in one of them.. On RUclips their is a pilot for a new series using actors from those shows.. It was only made a few years ago..

I remember Channel 7 had Kingswood Country on 7Mate about 5 years ago lasted 2eps cause people complained, what a sad PC world we live in these days, it’s called comedy dickheads.

My husband & I used to watch Kingswood Country being recorded. Twice each episode. First time through the Graham Kennedy Meatloaf episode, Ted went into the kitchen & looked at the two platters (one GKM, one Pal for the greyhounds, both with cute piped potato around the edges. If they used the right take, that’s my voice saying, “Oh, no!” And I was right.

The point was to lampoon Ted's viewpoints. His racist and chauvinist comments were not promoted on the show as something to uphold, but to highlight how stupid those viewpoints were. This show was a satire, people commenting otherwise haven't seen it in its entirety or sadly missed the point.
I'm not into racism, but I personally think it's healthy for society to have these things out in the open. In fact the humorous nature of the show and Ted's ideas were actually a way for people to explore their own preconceived ideas. Art is supposed to imitate life and the times that it is made in. I think Kingswood Country was a very sharp and funny show, certainly with preserving as a great refection and snap shot of Aussie society in the 70s and 80s.

Kingswood Country was one of those shows where those who don't understand satire and irony, project their feelings onto others with cries of racism and other thoughts lacking critical thinking.
The show is a satire about ignorant Ted Bullpit. It’s not glorifying it. And Italians are white, so where’s the racism? It’s just about cultural ignorance, not racism.

My brother and sister (older than me) joked that there were hidden microphones in our place, tapping Dad for script inspiration. And yes, Ted Bulpitt was a horrible old bigoted, musicologistic racist. That was the point. Everybody always got the better of him, especially Bruno.
Ted Bullpit supposedly served in WWII but the actor, Ross Higgins, was born in 1931, making him 8 when the war started in Europe & 14 when the Japanese surrendered in 1945. Funny show though. My favourite line: Bruno: "I'm not a wog, I was born in Australia!" Ted: "Oh yeah? Where?" Bruno: "Wagga Wagga" Ted: "That 'd be right!"
Did that come up again? I remember it as, “l’m as Australian as you are, I was born in Wagga!” “That’d be right.” Not everyone (ie some non-Aussies) knows Wagga is pronounced Wogg-a.

This show, and others in a similar vein (eg Love Thy Neighbour) were not racist. They were deliberately written and presented to show racists as fools. To have "the racist" as the fall-guy was a brilliant stroke in the 70's and 80's. We could all laugh at the idiot 👏
Loved this show, and many like it. My favourite lines, "You're not using the Kingswood, I just put Aerogard on the bumpers!", or "Can I have a beer, dad?". "Yeah...leave your money on the fridge!", and of course the daily "Bloody nuns!". Simpler times. I miss those days. What is so often missed with too many 'bleeding heart, liberal snowflakes let out of the insane asylums' these days, is that Bruno (and everyone else in the show, and in life in general in those days) gave as good as they got. There was no need to complain to your MP, the Police, or plaster it in the media about taking offence to some minor matter, you just got on with with it! My family was what I would call, 'white wogs', as coming from England in the mid 70's, we faced similar 'racist' comments, and recall my dad telling me of the 'running battles' and discrimination he faced for not being born in Australia, even more so as he was able to prove he had a greater skill in his profession. So, it was not just those of a different colour or language that faced such things, but it is the way you deal with it. And, being British, unlike 'other' nationalities, nobody gave a crap if you took offence anyway, as you would be called a whinging pom! So, you incurred MORE hassle by speaking up! Imagine that happening now! Sensitivity, is very much like doing a physical workout and general fitness, if you give up at the first sign of resistance or difficulty, you won't get anywhere. If you were able to get someone else to exercise for you, what is the point? Todays 'inability' to face up to honest opinions is the downfall of society, and now why the Labor Gov is trying to make it impossible to say 'boo' to a Goose, just in case it might actually be a Gander! I liken the 'wokeness' and the 'DESTRUCTION OF - freedom of speech' movement to the ever increasing restrictions to what you are 'allowed' to do legally whilst operating a vehicle, due to those who perhaps should not be given a license in the first place ruining it for the rest of us. It is getting to the point whereby anything other than looking directly out your windscreen is an offence, as even changing the radio is considered 'a dangerous distraction'! How about the fact that most people are 'terrified' and 'on high alert' with the increase in surveillance cameras and police on the road ready to take a snapshot of your day or pounce for the slightest infraction being considered an another distraction, eh? It is becoming a case of feeling you are made to feel guilty simply for using a car on the road? But, hey, is this not what THEY want us to do, and 'force' the argument for 15 min living?
Lex was a family member by marriage, and a bloody good bloke. I was a little kid when this was on air, I was at a mates birthday party who happened to live next door to Lex. I was telling all the kids at the party about how Lex was an uncle and was in Kingswood Country. Nobody believed me so I marched 20 kids up to his front door and proudly presented the 'bloody wog' Suffice to say it wasn't a great reception he did forgive me though. 😅 R.I.P Mate.

The guy who played Bobby Bullpit (Ted’s brother, the Datsun dealer), ended up as a news reader here in the Cairns in the late 80’s. Every time we’d see him in the street, us smartass school kids would abuse the, “Bloody Datsun dealer!” He’d always laugh and reply, “But you love me”, to which we’d reply, “No we don’t. Hate. Hate. Vomit!” Who remembers Ted’s greyhounds? Gay Akubra and Repco Lad?
Comedy has gone backwards like our society. No one can seriously point their finger at Aussies for being Racist. We are probably most acceptable Nation. Pity though we have lost patriotism. On TV when most would say good morning while walking down street. Leave house unlocked or keys in car ignition. Our society was a paradise. We have less rights now.

Are the DVDs uncut? I seem to remember reading the box that said something about the episodes potentially not being the same as they were aired.

The guy who played Bobby Bullpit (Ted’s brother, the Datsun dealer), ended up as a news reader here in the Cairns in the late 80’s. Every time we’d see him in the street, us smartass school kids would abuse the, “Bloody Datsun dealer!” He’d always laugh and reply, “But you love me”, to which we’d reply, “No we don’t. Hate. Hate. Vomit!”

Comedy has gone backwards like our society. No one can seriously point their finger at Aussies for being Racist. We are probably most acceptable Nation. Pity though we have lost patriotism. On TV when most would say good morning while walking down street. Leave house unlocked or keys in car ignition. Our society was a paradise. We have less rights now.
