Johnny Mathis scored a huge hit with the song “Gina”. The song was recorded on the album of the same name in 1962. Today we lost one of the last icons of the Golden Age of cinema. This is a tribute to 50s/60s Italian actress, bombshell Gina Lollobrigida. The first time that I heard of her I was a kid watching the Flintstones. They called her as "Gina Load-A-Bricks"! She starred in numerous films including, “Bread, Love and Dreams”, “The Wayward Wife”, “Woman of Rome”, “Beat The Devil”, “ Beautiful But Dangerous”, “Trapeze”, “ The Hunchback of Notre Dame “, “ Solomon and Sheba” and “Come September”. In 1974, she was the envy of many journalists when she had the chance to do an almost impossible photographic interview of the reclusive Fidel Castro. During the 80s she made numerous guest appearances on the highly watched drama “Falcon Crest”. In 2013, Lollobrigida sold her jewelry collection through Sotheby's. She donated nearly $5 million to benefit stem-cell therapy. She died today at the age of 95.
