- Peter, Kathy, and Abby Holcombe are back in Egmont, British Columbia, to revisit one of the best surf waves in North America, if not the world. The Skookumchuck Wave is legendary and draws kayakers and surfers from around the globe. It's a must-visit destination for any well-traveled paddler.
Abby is the reigning Jr. Women World Champion Freestyle Kayaker and is using this as a fun training mission for the 2023 World Championships that will be held in Columbus, GA. You can follow Abby's adventures traveling in a Winnebago Adventure Wagon on her Instagram @Adventurous.Miss.

Go check it out. This area is loaded with amazing things and nearby Vancouver Island has the best wild swimming I've ever seen.
If you ever make it to Manitoba - You "must" stop in at Sturgeon Fall for Epic play boating very similar to Scoop. ( about 2 hours NE of Winnipeg) Well worth the stop "IF' water level are good - as is the case for most river play spots. FYI there are about 3 other decent spots to playboat in that area as well.

Very nice. Does the wave form both on outgoing an incoming tides?
Hi Cathy, The wave only forms on flood tides but huge whirlpools form on ebb tide. It's really neat to see tides shape this area and the unusual sea life that thrives in these strong currents. Thanks for watching!
