@@naughtyprofessor100 Doesn't really matter. Some people will always have a different opinion. Tesla wanted majority support. In general, you can't buy ICE vehicles online. But you can buy EVs, both online and offline. And EVs buyers seem to prefer the online version. In general, EV buyers are generally forward thinking and cost-cutting people. And it seems a bit cool, if you can buy a car from your home, rather than walking around several shop. Not to mention, the decrease in cost due to this model. So, it seems EVs will be bought online in the future. ICE vehicle buyers don't care about cost and hence they won't mind going to the dealership, as they will anyways have spend much higher in maintenance and fuel
@@illbeyourmonster1959 As a Tesla owner, I can tell you service is way better than for other cars. I literally go in the app, describe the issue, find an available time slot, and Tesla SENDS someone to your location to fix it. Felix Lol.... I can’t wait til I get my Tesla. I have my eyes on the cyber truck.. I have 4 kids and need at least a 6 seater but prefer a 7 seater. Sent from my iPhone... While on my toilet lol
Software plays a smaller role in people purchasing Tesla's. It is a number of things, like huge long lasting batteries, which no other OEM comes close to offering Tesla's ranges. Plus Tesla uses a lot of aluminum in their cars, which doesn't rust like steel. I believe it's one of the reasons for their long warranties.
Both Software and hardware are what give Tesla the edge, an article came out yesterday(I think), multiple legacy auto makers did a teardown of the Model 3 and after looking at everything from hardware to software, they came to thw conclusion that they cant compete right now. They stated that Teslas ability to produce hardware and software in-house gives them an edge in that sense

Tesla sell less than a little automaker like Volvo. What we are talking about? For the Other automaker ev is only one propulsion systems very hiped but unprofitable. Every one knows that for the next years ice will be prominent. And personally consider Tesla more risky of bankrupt then the others becouse the others has less debt and more profits. No one is really interested To compete with Tesla because the business model of Tesla is loser.
False. Major car companies like Volvo and VW were announcing all electric campaigns as early as 2018. Way before anyone knew Robinhood let's you trade TSLA
Youfan yea legacy automakers dont even have a stable battery production or supplier. people should know manufacturing is orders of magnitude harder than making a prototype. all tesla naysayers just complain about build quality, delivery times and elonmusk;) well tesla has already won.. it made neglected automakers take evs more seriously and electric is the future!! so why wait and hold onto ices
I work for Panasonic at Gigafactory One.... Tesla has the battery market on lock trust me. We make the most efficient batterys on the market today on a grand scale. Other battery manufacturers have nothing Panasonic's volume. The next 10 years will be the Lithium & solid state battery era.
Elon Musk is a visionary and innovator, something that traditional automakers lack. Autonomous electric vehicles, Space X, Solar roofs, Boring Company, Starlink, etc. are all disruptive technologies. He’s like Steve Jobs.
The manufacturer I work for doesnt want to sell electric car, they are one developing them because of Tesla's market share. Batteries are not more environmentally friendly. They can deliver high efficiency with low power. Gasoline by weight is much more efficient. The manufacturer I work for believes hydrogen is the future and electric cars further the development of hydrogen vehicles. I'm not sure there is enough solar panels to make electric vehicles viable.
i am sure the number one Toyota mastering in house (with 12 millions hybrid vehicles produced) all the bells and wistles of electric propulsion, E-motors, batteries and controls and as well leading the pick-up WW market has been ready for years to produce heavy battery powered cars and pickups where autonomy is even less critical than for cars. I guess with over 90% profitable market penetration in some Asian countries Toyota knows the WW market and how to stay highly profitable: on a 70 million per year car market, EV represent a small volume with at best no profits potential mid term, since Renault, quite successfull with Zoe has been unprofitable for the first time in 20 years due to this EV volume.
I've been watching several videos from CNBC. And I always get this feeling that this channel. Is basically an advertisement in disguise. pretending to be telling the the exact truth. By giving out information in a traditional news format. But really if you know a lot about the subject they're talking about you can instantly noticed that they're Just manipulating information to their own taste.
You just figured this out? They exist for advertising dollars nothing more. Whether they tell you the truth or lies it doesn't matter, whichever makes more ad revenue is what matters.
Lowlands could not agree more! They barely spent 60 seconds talking about demand problem for high cost electric vehicles. Out of 5+ million cars sold in US in 2019, roughly 200k were electric including all brands, that’s roughly 4%. And as tax incentives phase out for these vehicles, it would be even harder to sell them with their high price tag. This seems all because Cramer is liking Tesla stock now, which is helping their stock too in some manner. And Cramer runs show on CNBC 😛
Not a single mention of any of these: autonomy, supercharging network, battery production, vertical integration, energy sector! Totally clueless, and the main reason they do not understand what is happening or where the stock will go ... I guess more for me and the ones that understand these fundamental technological shifts.
Ford, VW, GM and co are all building out fast charging networks such as Electrify America and Ionity in Europe. So in the not too distant future the supercharger network will lose its importance. Autonomy isn't a huge deal for most people. Tesla's energy sector investment has resulted in literally zero gains apart from the a useless building that Tesla have branded the second Gigafactory. Vertical integration isn't entirely necessary particularly when you have massive and already fully developed supply chains. Tesla only vertically integrated because they had very little else they could do. When it comes to battery production I can't argue that Tesla is out in front by miles. All this has maybe a small influence in stock value although not enough to take it to the heights it's reaching.
@@noahbowie5985 "Battery Day" will make everyone's jaw drop. Musk's thesis was on supercapacitor maximization in electric vehicles. Competitors: we will take on Tesla HARD, they will no longer be the best EV in the market. Elon: **smirks** that was the plan my dear... to make you save the planet, While I colonize Mars.
When will people get over the fact it’s NOT a challenge to “beat” Tesla? Tesla wants every car to be electric and every car company to make electric vehicles, so it’s not a competition except with the one with the fossil fuel industry.
what a man says and what a man does is different.... elon does not allow others to use his charger network for cheap and hes not supplying factories to competitors.... so hes not actually wanting them to compete lol..
Yeah, why is the supercharger network never mentioned? That's a huge selling point, and something Tesla has been really committed to from the very beginning.
Think about this: 10 years ago not a single big car company (Mercedes, BMW, Audi etc.) was planning to truly release a non-concept EV to the roads. Because of one single startup from California the entire car industry had to change its perspective about the future of their brands. All of a sudden everyone is coming out with electric concepts. That’s just insane.
I think it’s bold to attribute that exclusively to Tesla.... what started the ball rolling was the 1990 CA law that required automakers to make and sell (or lease) electric vehicles to continue selling IC vehicles in the state. That made automakers consider a future with mass EV production. People wanted EVs before Tesla became mainstream too. Recall Nissan started the electric craze with their leaf, then Tesla merely compounded that frenzy two years later with the release of their model S. They certainly have presented a challenge to legacy manufacturers, but I think it’s ambitious to attribute them exclusively to the changing tides of an entire industry
Not only this single startup is forcing to ALL big car companies to change to EV (against their will) but also this single startup is already 5+ years ahead in hardware technology (custom chipset, battery, power train, charging network) and software (self driving + user interface). Tesla won't die any soon, they will just continue showing others the path to follow and will get fun on the way.
It is an impressive achievement in the modern age even though electric cars have been around since the 1830's. Just as relevant for other car makers going electric is emission regulations as they can be fined hundreds of millions of dollars if their collective co2 rate is too high with so many internal combustion engines in their lineup !.
I think they are, for the SolidState battery to be ready, i woudnt be supriced if VW postpones there ID series a few year, to launch them with a SSD battery.
I'm waiting, but I'm probably alone here. People who can afford to buy an EV can afford gas in California. They are just trying to earn heaven points. How i see it. They polluted the world for over 50 years until they can afford an EV that will pollute the world in battery acid.
Some people are waiting for the Taycan, as I understand it. You don't wait long for any of the Tesla cars out right now, but you will wait for the Y and the Cybertruck.

While other automakers want to challenge and compete with Tesla to become the Tesla killer, Tesla’s goal/ideology is to have zero emission of Co2. Elon released thousands of patents so other companies can create electric cars as well. The ultimate goal wasn’t profit, but cleaner air to breathe and a healthier planet. Maybe other automaker shouldn’t look to compete for major profits but be apart of a movement.
True but at the end of the day, the only reason why automakers are jumping on board is because of money. They could careless about the planet. It took someone like Elon to come along and surprise everyone to make them change.

xD Who? Everyone has the same battery technology because thats how battery's work nowadays, the only reason Tesla is successful is because america's so big, you need massive ranges to get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time. In Europe you dont need this, everything is near each other which is why Tesla is so rare in Europe, in Canada Tesla is apparently quite rare as well because its too cold for the batteries so petrol isn't going anywhere there and the same goes for Russia. The first in the industry usually arent the most successful in the long run will be interesting to see where the electric vehicles are in 50 years and who wins dominance. they're still a year or two away for bringing their car to the market and still under performs against the tesla and doesn't have the automation factor. Tesla needs to bring out a model 2
They probably shouldn't, battery price is still huge part of cars total price, and wherever you cut cost it will still be more expensive then its competitors, and basically only limiting factor for tesla to make more cars is how many batteries they can produce, so to sell "cheap" car on which they will have no profits at all or no one will buy them, and will take a bit of battery production from high end vehicles... nah it is too early for small/cheap ev
Yeah because everyone wants that sweet 1.1% of the EV market for the big bucks... so any semi-popular car company still sells more than 5x cars in 1 one month than Tesla sells in a year.
Tesla got ahead of the game when other manufacturers were shy to take electric cars seriously at all. They're now firmly planted in the minds of consumers as 'THE' electric car, everyone else are seen as imitators or a sub-standard alternative.

Synthetic is the future. It’s already confirmed to be used by planes and ships in the future. It’s slowly being worked on for cars. However EV will still remain an option.
@SS Doesn't understand how businesses grow, nor what's best for the investors and the planet. As an investor since 2011, I still don't want Tesla to make a profit yet. I want them to keep enough cash to stay afloat while shoveling every bit of would-be profit into continuing their 50% per year growth. They've got about $7B in cash right now, and are roughly cash-flow neutral, which is great. 10 years from now, once they've dominated the auto+energy market, perhaps I'd be okay with slowing growth slightly to earn a bit of profit.
They know. Notice they never showed the new Roadster when talking about upcoming Cars from competitors. It's all manipulation and FUD. Even if slightly positive.
NOW PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT THE ENTIRE WORLD - Not only the US. I now get why many Americans have such a narrow view on topics outside the US. On the European market for example, Tesla is having a tough start due to its competition (established brands e.g. Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, VW which dominate the upper end market) and a completely different customer behavior (e.g. focus on design and reputation. You can’t even try comparing a Mercedes and Tesla interior since MB outclasses them by miles). Plus, Teslas are more expensive in Europe, leading to the fact that for the price of a Model 3 you get a Mercedes E-Class or a BMW 5-Series which actually should be the competitors to the Model S. The Model X is priced so high that you can get a full specced Audi Q7 for the same price.
Hard to make Tesla look bad. 99% of people who drive one want to buy one. Granted, same could be said about lambo in the 80's...but those cost $500,000 and $30,000 a year in repairs.
Exactly. It seems complimentary but weaves the most subtle doubt. I can't wait until News agencies just go away. I've never gathered useful information from one of these sources.

Brand power is the main thing, driven by Musk and his vision (similar to Apple/Jobs). Another thing that comes to mind is that other manufacturers have tried electric cars before, but have mostly failed. I think due to this there is a mindset now that traditional manufacturing companies won't make good electric cars. In my mind it is because they don't have to as their main focus was/will be on ICE cars. Tesla only produces electric cars, so they have to succeed and will probably pour all their efforts into it (and they are).
No one has tried electric cars like their future depends on it. No company will commit to a product that barely has a 2% marketshare worldwide. The current automakers have more experience in production which is why they’re not making their cars in a tent... or having interior panels that mismatched. Look at what Porsche just did..they made an EV that has the ability to sustain its performance without overheating and cutting power like the model s does and they’re whiting 15 Miles of range within each other. If it came down to staying in business, we would have many great electric cars, but since EV market is barely at 2% worldwide.. no one really cares.
After staring at the EV market for at least 12 years today it seems as if legacy auto manufacturers are being dragged into the future against their will.
I question if EVs are the future or not. We were told that hydrogen was going to be the future and that never happened. Also, if it were not for tax credits, would people want an EV. As I say this, they just reported that sales dropped when China killed off their own tax credits. But let's say that EVs are the future, I would get any other brand other than Tesla. For one, I can go to any dealership for service or a NYS inspection. I don't have have to drive too far out of my way. I don't have a wait time to get my EV and lastly, if I were to get the eTron, it has a spare tire. Something that Tesla doesn't have. Living in the NE where potholes are a real concern, having a spare tire is a requirement. If EVs are the future, the price needs to come down and charge times need to be equivalent to getting gas.
Spare tires are deleted by nearly all car makers, alas, really stupid policy. Tesla should at least offer it as an option. With V3 Superchargers you might get 125 miles of range in 10 minutes. Not perfect but getting there.
1: for Hydrogen, it's a simple physics problem. The amount of energy it takes to actually get that hydrogen in the first place is more efficiently used being put directly into an EV battery pack as fuel cells are only about 40% efficient, compared to 95%+ of EV's 2: for servicing, that's largely a Tesla only issue. For the Bolt at least, they have service info with most major commercial repair manual companies already, and existing GM dealerships can order in parts for shops no problem usually. Tesla only recently published their parts catalog after a right to repair law forced them to.
@@cpufreak101 with Tesla, you can service your car anywhere. As long as it is not drivetrain specific. Like rotating the tires, wiper blades, brake fluid and the like. However, I am sure there are independent shops are already working on or some are getting ready to service EVs. But this has nothing to do with repair manuals. My point I am making is that the number of Tesla service centers are few and far between. Where as I can go to a any given Ford dealership to have my car worked on. But the other issue is that there are some states that don't have inspections or if your car is x amount of years old, you don't need to worry about inspections. So, with any given car, you have a reminder of when your car needs to be serviced. Tesla doesn't have that reminder. I don't think.
@@Andrew-zv4fm ah I get what you're saying now. Yes that's true, stuff like tire rotations could be done anywhere, but if I remember right some newer ones with the special sensing wipers need a service visit to replace. As for Tesla service centers, that's really one of the largest issues with the brand. There is so far only a single independent repair shop for Tesla's, and it's ran by Rich Rebuilds (look him up on youtube if you don't know him). The largest problem pertaining to third party service is Tesla just doesn't like to make their parts available unless legally required to do so. As for inspections, this varies where you live. I know here in NY, it obviously wouldn't have to pass emissions, but it'd still have to pass safety. However if you're in a state with only emissions inspection, then it'd be no inspection at all. I think that answered what you were asking.
@@cpufreak101 you did so and then some. I live in NYS so for having an EV I could do tire rotations, wiper blade changes and the like on a yearly basis. But in states that don't have any inspections, people may forget about something as recommend like a tire rotation. Being an EV, I don't know if Tesla has a yearly reminder. Other makes that have EVs in their lineup may have a yearly reminder. Something to look into.
They didn't even mention Tesla's software updates pushed automatically to their cars. Do they not realize that this is what makes Tesla superior? The idea that your car will get better while you own it, and will not become technologically obsolete the minute you drive it off the lot, is just as revolutionary as the electric drive train. Also, the buying experience is superior because it's entirely online, and the price is the price.
remember that in interviews Elon has said his main goal in starting an electric car company was to inspire people and traditional manufacturers to start getting away from combustion engines, and it's working like a charm. they're all just trying to catch up with tesla, and when they do, they all be right where he wanted them, mass producing electric cars
If enough people open their eyes and see the poor quality control it wouldn't be much of a challenge. Too many think they are supporting the US economy because they are a United States-based company. Hate to break it to you, but they are moving a lot of production to China. Toyota, Mazda, Ford, and Kia/Hyundai, on the other hand, are actually adding US jobs. They have a lot of better quality control also...

The only way for the IC car manufacturers to catch up with Tesla and really make the transition to the new paradigm is to make their cars able to recharge wirelessly, having a standardized charging device embed on the bottom of the vehicles and create a network of wireless charge stations all across the US. They can even open the market for new entrepreneurs to invest in those charging stations. When you park the car in a parking lot of a mall, supermarket, etc., you will be prompted if you want to recharge and how much you're going to pay for kWh. At the end of the month, you will have a consolidated bill, from various energy providers. To make sure your bill is accurate, your vehicle will have the log of all your chargings, that can be seen on your car's panel, phone app or online.
Yes thank you! Backhanded compliments. "Tesla sales dominate the market. Competition has been being promised for years now. Tesla's got a lead. BUT heres some competition that's the most competition we've ever competetitited."
Short answer: none. Even a 2015 Tesla is ahead of the competition. Once they achieve $100Kwh and has half a dozen megafactories running circa 2025, it's pretty much checkmate. Imho
IMO, the main reasons for Tesla being dominant is: - Established automakers sell millions a month, EV sales is miniscule by comparison. - EV's have not been profitable for a long time. - consumer attitude to EV's have been difficult to read. My take is that big auto hoped 3rd parties would develop autonomous driving (Bosch), enough good batteries (LG, Panasonic), Motors (LG, Sony, Bosch) etc but they have been slower than anticipated, probably because of lack of large scale interest besides the Teslarati. As Tesla is now making it, big auto has started to ramp up. They are behind, but won't be in 10 years.
Tesla is better as the batteries don’t decay as fast as they cool their batteries with something like a fridge also they don’t retentive break when the Battery is too cold or hot and the range and the auto drive being the best in the world and as of right now auto drive is 2.5 times safer than a human
Fun fact: Patterns of tesla cars are public and not private like other companies, They all followed their pattern. Which company can be rival of the company they copy ???
Tesla is a lifestyle. Supporting a pure human who dream's of leaving the earth and expanding our understanding of what is truly possible. It is just a means to a end and I am willing to support such a savior of humanity 🙏
This like is like Blu-ray vs HD DVD all over again there can only be one!! "One EV to rule them all, One EV to find them, One EV to bring them all and in the darkness bind them."
This report missed the actual strength of Tesla. 1) Excellent supply chain of materials and powertrain components 2) Charging infrastructure 3) Superior technologycal and structural design
The story mentions government subsidies for EV makers, suggesting that they wouldn't survive without them but completely overlooks the subsidies paid to the oil industry and the major automobile companies (GM, Ford, etc.). There is no examination of how the gasoline vehicle business would be without those subsidies.
i want to buy an EV but it appears, aside from the silly stand-up scooters, that EVs don't exist. Car makers know what we want - an electric 1970 beetle - so they offer up none of that and all make identical SUVs with horrendous consumption and sky-high running costs, flimsy build quality and powered by exploding dinosaurs, this being somehow better, cheaper and more accessible than hydroelectric, wind, solar, nuclear and other, non-exploding dinosaurs.
It's an easy thing to see, really: Elon Musk is revolutionizing every technological industry as we speak - cars, softwares, engineering, energy and space industry. He's respected by his insight and enterprises - he represents the future. And the products he's putting out are absolutely fantastic. Shouldn't be worried one bit.
Six incredibly important fundamental metrics where Tesla dominates: 1. (Vehicle cost) / (miles of range) 2. (Vehicle cost) / (average speed achieved, including stops, on a 600-mile road trip) 3. Vehicle efficiency in Wh/mile (significantly affects cost of ownership) 4. Average distance to nearest charging station that can add 150+ mi. of range in < 15 minutes 5. Depreciation (which takes into account vehicle longevity, software updates, etc.) 6. Probability of injury in an accident On top of all of that, there's the unmatched software + features. E.g., who else sells a car that comes with a 360-degree camera security system? Did I mention autopilot? Netflix? Built-in karaoke? I'll have to stop with four examples because the cool software/feature list is endless.
Everyone please don't overinvest in 1 company. Yes Tesla car's are for now 30% better in range and other things, so some rich people will pay 30% more (probably buying 1 from Tesla then another 4 from companies, so 20% of that rich market). And our 50% poor people who don't even own their dwelling don't have extra money so will go with Cheapest EV or usually Cheapest gas car til 2050, and this is Toyota and maybe GM. The 40% middle class will mostly stick with gas, cause these are mostly older people (in US at least). …. Adidas in 1980 had 70% market share, then came Nike and 10 others and now it's 3%. IBM in 70s had 80% market share. Blackberry, Hoover vacuum, Myspace, etc.
@@amyself6678 You and I see the future very differently. Individuals won't be buying vehicles in 2050. By 2030, most miles driven will be via TaaS; most individuals won't own vehicles. I'll be happy to invest in any company that shows promise with this future in mind, but right now, the others act like they don't have a clue, or don't care. The metric that matters to these future customers is cost/mile, which is based on the fleet owner's TCO/mile (total cost of ownership per mile), and Tesla seems set up to win by this metric. I think we should expect all automobile up-front prices to *increase* during the transition to TaaS, and at the same time, cost-per-mile will decrease. This is because fleet owners and their customers want the car that has the lowest TCO/mile over its lifetime, and soon, the obvious choice for this will be an electric vehicle (cheaper fueling, lower maintenance, 500k+ mile powertrain), and it will probably *not* be one that has the cheapest *up-front* cost. The vehicle with the lowest TCO/mile for a fleet owner will likely have a *higher* up-front cost than the average individually-owned vehicle today, because a fleet owner will be willing to pay a premium for a vehicle that lasts longer before needing replacement (Tesla), has *widely available* fast-charging capabilities (Tesla), is less likely to break down than cheaper alternatives (Tesla), is safest (Tesla), and has the best autonomous capabilities (probably Tesla). This vehicle may appear more expensive based on the price tag, but it will actually be the cheapest choice for both the fleet owner and the passengers who use the service. As soon as I see a real competitor to Tesla who seems to understand this and build cars that make sense with this in mind, I'd be happy to consider investing in them.
..1. I have 2 days on weekend for family visits w distant family..2 My 4 persons in family value our time at $30hour average (I asked) so adding Hours to trips is big neg. 3 I dislike that EVs cost ectra $20k over nice $15k fiat so I do count this factor especially which car to buy clumsy daughter who keeps hitting stuff. . . Sooooo, it is not just $ per mile, consider these other numbers . . .
@@amyself6678 I agree 100% that the higher up-front price tag affects individual owners of vehicles. I was responding to your point about EV investing choices, which I personally evaluate based on what I see coming over the next 10 years, i.e., our rapidly-approaching TaaS future, not the way we drive today. Up-front price is not what matters to a fleet owner. Driving a Tesla doesn't add a significant amount of time to most cross-country trips. I've put almost 25,000 miles on our Model 3, including multiple 500+ mile trips. In our experience, on a long trip, using the M3 adds about 15 minutes per 130 miles of highway driving (compared to an ICEv), and this will decrease to about 11 minutes as supercharger V3 is rolled out. So yes, there is a time cost, but it's small, and more importantly, it's decreasing. It will drop further as battery cost continues to rapidly decrease and energy density continues to increase, both of which lead to longer ranges, which leads to faster charging (no time to explain that here). Charging time will be a non-issue in 10 years. Where charging does become inconvenient (today) is any situation where you spend the night somewhere but cannot charge overnight. The supercharger system is set up to work best when you start your day fully charged. As more and more hotels and apartment complexes add EV charging options, this issue will disappear. Again though, with TaaS, this issue changes. The fleet owner needs fast-charging locations around/within cities. These are coming too :)
Gd to think about changes, I want my nuclear or flying car promised in 1960 now 60 years still in research showing dont believe promoters. ..Planes still need pilots even planedrones, why will cars in all weathertypes n cities n drunk or child pedestrians being stupid not need humans too- just weird to expect $40k cars to be first unmanned vehicle w few cheapo cameras (the fancy lidar etc r only for test models n even fancy ones arent autonomous).. EV TIME. Until I see exact time trials in some state for: leave road n drive 5 miles to find charger n charge n return 5 miles vs. gas car time I dont believe vague "ev is not much more time" n I honestly guess its 50% more time for day driving - to test just do 2 cars go same time to place 500 miles away this wld be ez but Nope never done , , if u hide exact numbers I and many will fear its bad,,, my fam of 4 in a car for 6 hrs to cross our state to gparents dont want to risk addin 3hrs more... *Software*
Tesla is the "Apple" of Cars
Ppl tend to forget that Software alone is not only a BIG change but a HUGE Advantage
also their electric charging Network
Software plays a smaller role in people purchasing Tesla's. It is a number of things, like huge long lasting batteries, which no other OEM comes close to offering Tesla's ranges. Plus Tesla uses a lot of aluminum in their cars, which doesn't rust like steel. I believe it's one of the reasons for their long warranties.
Both Software and hardware are what give Tesla the edge, an article came out yesterday(I think), multiple legacy auto makers did a teardown of the Model 3 and after looking at everything from hardware to software, they came to thw conclusion that they cant compete right now. They stated that Teslas ability to produce hardware and software in-house gives them an edge in that sense

i am sure the number one Toyota mastering in house (with 12 millions hybrid vehicles produced) all the bells and wistles of electric propulsion, E-motors, batteries and controls and as well leading the pick-up WW market has been ready for years to produce heavy battery powered cars and pickups where autonomy is even less critical than for cars.

This is the most perceptive comment I've read about Tesla's marketing strategy!
Thank you, god! At least some sane people with rational thinking here. It feels like sciontologie here.
@w4csc traditional cars are embedded with culture as well. It so happens that people just want to see them as 'normal'.
That is how the media works

EV batteries will not last long in a cold North American winter.

They probably shouldn't, battery price is still huge part of cars total price, and wherever you cut cost it will still be more expensive then its competitors, and basically only limiting factor for tesla to make more cars is how many batteries they can produce, so to sell "cheap" car on which they will have no profits at all or no one will buy them, and will take a bit of battery production from high end vehicles... nah it is too early for small/cheap ev
psp785 the Model 2 ist the Model x
Model 1 is the Model s
Yeah because everyone wants that sweet 1.1% of the EV market for the big bucks...
so any semi-popular car company still sells more than 5x cars in 1 one month than Tesla sells in a year.
They're releasing the model Y
Tesla have amazing software too (plus mainly free software updates). The autopilot is far ahead of most competitors right now.
Tesla got ahead of the game when other manufacturers were shy to take electric cars seriously at all. They're now firmly planted in the minds of consumers as 'THE' electric car, everyone else are seen as imitators or a sub-standard alternative.
I don't care who's taking on Tesla. It's good to hear that everyone is going electric.

Exactly.
They seem to never grasp the fact that Tesla is ten years ahead of the conventional auto makers.
Lol
@SS They also never seem to grasp that tesla is a growing company and is getting more and more customers and will be making profit very soon

Are you joking? Literally everyone in norway has a Tesla and the UK and France have been racking up the numbers. Tesla also have a factory in Germany.
This was a anti Tesla video but still ended up making Tesla look good lol
Hard to make Tesla look bad. 99% of people who drive one want to buy one. Granted, same could be said about lambo in the 80's...but those cost $500,000 and $30,000 a year in repairs.

The amount of energy it takes to actually get that hydrogen in the first place is more efficiently used being put directly into an EV battery pack as fuel cells are only about 40% efficient, compared to 95%+ of EV's
2: for servicing, that's largely a Tesla only issue.

Without a supercharger network-equivalent, any other EV maker will be decades behind.
Can we all take a moment to appreciate a very well covered documentary by CNBC. They need to give this guy a raise.

IMO, the main reasons for Tesla being dominant is:
- Established automakers sell millions a month, EV sales is miniscule by comparison.

He's respected by his insight and enterprises - he represents the future. And the products he's putting out are absolutely fantastic. Shouldn't be worried one bit.
@Tee Bone you tell me if I'm lying, at least it's what the media is reporting
Six incredibly important fundamental metrics where Tesla dominates:
1. (Vehicle cost) / (miles of range)
2. (Vehicle cost) / (average speed achieved, including stops, on a 600-mile road trip)
3. Vehicle efficiency in Wh/mile (significantly affects cost of ownership)
4. Average distance to nearest charging station that can add 150+ mi. of range in < 15 minutes
5. Depreciation (which takes into account vehicle longevity, software updates, etc.)
6. Probability of injury in an accident
On top of all of that, there's the unmatched software + features.
