- Kick back, relax, put on your good headphones (or switch on your good monitor speakers) and enjoy a selection of my favourite patches from the amazing Take 5 analog synth from Sequential!
This little powerhouse is a sonic monster - creamy leads, funky, squelchy, screaming leads, powerful basses, Prophet 5 brass and poly sounds, plucks, pads - it does it all so musically and with class - and the keybed feels wonderful to play, really allowing you to get the most out of the instrument.
A big shout out to Ben Willis who shot this demo video and edited it together - absolutely stellar work! - Видеоклипы
The Sequential Take 5 is a little powerhouse! If you enjoyed this demo, make sure to give it a "thumbs up" and hit Subscribe!
Also a big shout out to Ben Willis who filmed this video and edited it together - amazing work!
Outstanding video and play, my goodness, that sounds amazing!
Have a quick question, will the Take 5 be able to be played as a midi controller for plug-ins like native instruments in Arturia?
@@ajotech Thank you! Yes, it works great as a controller
Holy shit dude. Came for the Take 5 stayed for Mike!!!
Haha, thank you!
I love it when people who demo actually play keyboards. Thanks.
Cheers!
I definitely name a few who can't
@@ciatangallaghe2485Wow, you must be so talented!
That flute riff at 3:48 absolutely fucking shreds
This is what I call a professional demo...Mike is the BEST in industry
Thank you so much fryderyk!
Bro! This is probably some of the MOST beautiful demo/sounds and analogue vibe I ever heard. The ‘203 patch’ at 7.30-> alone sold me this. I need a Take 5 totally for my Rhodes now. Thanks, dude! 🎹 Sune 🇩🇰
Thank you! Yes, the T5 and Rhodes would be a perfect combo!
I swear there's possibly only about three people on RUclips that can actually play these things.
Best performance demo for TAKE 5 I've ever seen currently!! Most of these demos are much more modern synthesis sounds instead of those "classic warm analog 80's blahblah"...... I love this!
Awesome - Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
It takes a master to demo a synth so well. You are truly blessed Mike!
Thank you so much asp4637! Really glad you enjoyed it!
I have the mopho keyboard, keyboard SE and was hunting a X4. The Take 5 seems to correct everything I dislike on those.
such a TASTY sounding synth! 😻
It really is!
Well done!
This video makes me want one so bad. I have a Prophet-6, it blows my mind every time I use it, but this thing is so cool. Really packs the best into a VCO Poly Synth at a reasonable price. The extra mod options help it sit in a more modern category too.
Nice clav sound.
What a great demo. 👏
Thank you Bob!
Great demo, thanks!
Thanks Jo!
Demo masterclass by Mike Pensini right here; shows just what an amazing synth this is!
Thank you metalboxhead! It certainly is. I also see my surname has succumbed to AutoCorrect hahahaha
@@MikePensini haha fixed. That’s not an auto-correct you want!
@@metalboxhead Hahahaha 😂
Super expressive - this is alive !
It’s a super expressive instrument! You can definitely feel/hear those analog oscillators.
This thing sounds incredible. Very good demo mate.
Thank you mate!
Love the melody you play at 11:00. Fantastic as always! Cheers from Denver.
Thank you very much!
Any time I'm craving new gear, I just tune in Mike to remind myself that what I actually need is skill (and practice to one day get there)!
Hahaha, we’re all still learning mate!
Amazing !
Thank you Mister P!
Great playing, well done Mike👌🔥
Thank you Martin!
that preset 211 strings sound is nice with both characteristics of analog and real strings.
Amazing demo!
Thank you Roman!
Thank you for this demonstration, Mike. Every sound begins to live under your hands. I think the Take 5 will soon expand my studio.
Thank you Ron! It’s a wonderful synth - can’t go wrong!
I love the way you film: beyond the synth, I am even more interested in your playing: the harmonies you use, the scales/modes… with those view angles it’s really easy to analyze and a true source of inspiration/learning! Thanks Mike!
Cheers Vince, glad you enjoyed it mate!
Thanks Mike, great demo as usual. May I suggest maybe a video of synth playing specific tricks, like when/how to use pitch bend/mod wheel, filter cutoff, etc? That would be great. Again, thanks and keep the videos coming, it's always a delight to hear you play.
Thank you mirkocaserta! Will keep in mind, cheers.
Fantastic demo, Mike! It’s great to hear what a wide variety of sounds this synth is capable of, and all used in such a musical context.
Thank you Clancy! Really glad you hear you enjoyed it! Might be nice company for your OB6! 😈😂
@@MikePensini the thought had crossed my mind. And yes, you are the devil!
Incredible playing man!
Thank you!
Awesome job Mike :)
Thank you Oscar!
Amazing demo Mike!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you DKS! 🧡
@@MikePensini 🙂✌🏻
gorgeous. the Take-5 is my favorite synth of all time
Cheers! It's pretty incredible!
Exagération !
@@huli8557 no, its true. it's a better sounding version of the prophet 12. so its the most versatile analog polysynth that exists, but also the best sounding, most rich and thick analog polysynth that exists under $2000. which makes it the best synth that exists
you're not going to found a synth that deep for sound design that also sounds that crazy good
if you think you have, you can tell me and i will explain why you're wrong
15:00 love the Brass groove ! Nice playing
Thank you!
Great playing man!! 🎹👌
Thank you Nicolas!!!
When I saw it first I I thought it was a stupid synth with with an even worse name.... But life is a gift. It is THE synth I was looking for.
It’s a fantastic instrument
This section at 6:40 is so haunting. Love love love it
Thanks Ben!
That segment at 1:05 made me use my stank face which I normally reserve for guitar solos.
Haha, mission accomplished!
I usually hate the factory presets on synths but these sound fantastic! The Take 5 is at the top of my list for next synth purchase...
I love about 40%. The rest- meh...
Mike, I just ordered one of these and you showcased several of the presets that sold me on it when I played it at a local shop. FreewayDrivin’? Come on, what a great patch.
Some of the presets are really great!
Jam on it! 😳😮😉❤🔥
At 3:50 love that sound and melody
🔥
Not even waiting to leave a like!!
Haha - thank you decay cs80!
Good demo of the factory patches. Would be interesting to hear your own creations. 😎😀🎹👍👍
Coming soon! I'll be going live with the Take 5 later in the week and cooking up some patches/answering questions - stay tuned!
This synth seems gorgeous but damn those buttons and design look reminds me old Roland MC-303/505 and JX-305 instruments.
😂😂😂
I heard that Oberheim Rush rezz. Very convincing. Perhaps Dave got something out of helping Tom out. That was a great trade! I applaud these two very cool cats working together. I plan on buying this synth after my OBX8 arrives. Beautiful sounds here!!! Thank you for the post!!!
Thank you John - They're both incredible people and those are both incredible instruments. You'll love them.
7:12 Awesome !
That patch is so expressive!
Nice playing as usual. Was just wondering how the bottom end is on this synth. looking for a poly to add to my Pro8 rev 2 which seems to be a bit lacking in bottom end and girth. Love your work.
It's decent. Obviously not as big and bottomy as a Moog monosynth for example, but more than enough for a polysynth.
Hi Mike I had a couple of questions for you, if you could please let me know. Firstly do you know how to delete old tuning tables on the Take 5? I find on my unit when I use too much resonance on poly sounds (like past 2 o’clock), it feels like the sound flutters a little.
Secondly, on your unit does the Reverb ‘Tone’ knob have a solid click / stop at the 12 o’clock position or is it more of a subtle stop in the middle? On my unit it’s not a solid indentation in the middle. Just wondering, Many thanks
Incredible !!! do you think it has more snappy (more attack) enveloppes than ob 6 ? For 80s bass sound types for exemple. Thx
I haven't been able to A/B it against the OB6 but I have no complaints with the snappiness of the envelopes on the Take 5!
Great playing on a great synth. Thnx Mike. Are these factory presets or are these custom made?
Thank you Mark! These are 100% factory presets.
@@MikePensini these are some great factorypresets
Nice playing Mike. Do you find the keyboard to have enough keys for you, or do you wish it was larger like 61 keys?
I think the unit is a great package. It’s a super portable 5 voice system. Obviously more keys are nicer in some instances but I feel there’s the Prophet 6 or 5/10 if that’s essential. I love the portability of the T5!
Do you know poly aftertouch is transmitted via midi to another synth with ? (asm hydrasynth desktop)
As far as I know, the Take 5 keyboard only transmits Channel aftertouch.
Although I’ve already got 10 synthesizers, don’t need anymore and I’m not interested in turning loose of any I currently own, I could otherwise still imagine getting one of these and controlling it from my S90XS (if I didn’t want to play this one’s Fatar keyboard). It could still potentially supplant any two of the following models I do have, a Matrix 1000, an MKS-70 and am Odyssey clone.
It's a great board - definitely worth trying out! The inbuilt keyboard w aftertouch is quite excellent too.
Love some of the metallic sounds. Is it through sync or ring modulation ?
They’re great aren’t they? I think sync or FM off the top of my head but will have to dive in to particular patches and have a look.
@@MikePensini No, I don't want to give you extra work :) When are you doing one of those jams or Q&A? I'm still pondering which demos to send you by the way.
@@fusionistaaaa A live session/Q&A will most likely be happening later this week :)
The Take 5 has both. Sync is right on the front panel with a key press. ring mod is an effect you que up w menu dive. Metallic is best w FM and sync and some ring mod as well.
damn wondering playing!!! what patch was at 5:09?!?
I'll check the patch name and get back to you!
it looks almost identical to PRO 3
They share some design language for sure
0:26 shadowfire (C64) EDIT: or is it?
Not sure what this is?!
@@MikePensini shadowfire was a 1985 computer game for the commodore C64
Sadly, way too overpriced for what it offers.
It’s an absolute bargain
@@MikePensini I can do everything this can do and more, at half the price, with a DeepMind 12.
