Camelus-- dromedarius or bactrianus? Visitors come to Taipei Zoo always wonder why there is no breeding program for dromedarius, only see more offerings from the bactrianus? Because there is no wild dromedarius and the population in zoos are enough for conservation. Taipei Zoo puts more efforts in preserving the conservational and educational purpose in bactrianus since there are still wild bactrianus population outside. The looks for both cameluses are different, dromedarius has longer legs, light weight, walk faster and longer; bactrianus is heavier with stronger short legs that can carry cargo to travel long distance in cold weather. The keepers also found out that dromedarius is distant and maybe aggressive to charge at people, but bactrianus is more friendly to human just spitting when upset. The 7 months old baby bactrianus, over 200 kgs, 150cm tall, not wean yet, is still very playful with his Mom and sister, come to see him in Taipei Zoo.

單峰駱駝已無野外種群，實質上的野外滅絕啊，不能放歸自然，動物園眷養族群數量再多，也的確沒了保育意義
看到他們的毛色就知道動物園照顧得很好，好想偷摸一把！

原來單峰駱駝族群在野外已成絕响了，真可惜呀！隨著全國發展基建和交通網絡、以及扶貧工程的成功，駱駝跟驢子和騾子一樣，在中國大陸上已喪失了牠們的運輸功能，沒有存在的價值了！這到底是牠們的悲哀呢，還是人類社會高度發展的悲哀呢？

单峰骆驼跑得快很多，可以当战马用，以前的骆驼骑士都是单峰骆驼。双峰的慢吞吞，跑起来速度和普通人差不多。
