    Thank you for sharing. It came just in time for me to make my grandson his cake. He loves the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

    I really loved your tutorial, it was very helpful to me! I was trying to make the head but could not get the mouth just right, it was a great idea to use a metal ball tool to achieve this effect smoothly, since many of the plastic ball tools have a small ridge. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos!

    Stunning tutorial - thank you! My fondant goes soft - what temperature were you working at round abouts?

    • @BellaCakes2012
      @BellaCakes2012  9 лет назад

      Hi Loraine, when my fondant feels like it is getting soft and sticky I add a little tylose powder to it and it helps stabilize and firm it up so its easier to work with.

      Thanx so much for the feedback. Is tylose powder similar to CMC powder? I believe some people roll it out on icing sugar?

    Thanks so very much for this tutorial!! It's fabulous! Where can the metal end shaping tools be purchased that you used in the video? Also, what are you using to attach pieces? Is it just water?

    • @BellaCakes2012
      @BellaCakes2012  10 лет назад

      HI Deb! I use the Wilton Modeling Tool Set. You can find them at Micheals, They are a little expensive there but a great deal if you have a coupon. You can also find them on Amazon and Ebay. I use a mix of 3 tablespoons of water and one teaspoon of tylose power (edible glue) to attach the pieces. Thanks so much for your comments! :-)

    While helpful to get better idea to make the turtles, would be more helpful if you added a list in the description of the tools you are using, ingrediants and how much, etc. I recognize exacto knife, but not a professional, so not sure what the tool you use to make the eyes (rounded ends). .Would love to attempt using your video, but without atleast an estimate of what I need, unfortunately I cannot. Which is too bad, because I think you did a great job!
    another EDIT: I did find tools via your link; would still like to see estimate of fondant needed....just my two cents anyway

    • @BellaCakes2012
      @BellaCakes2012  10 лет назад

      Hi Angel! I do appreciate your 2 cents! ;-) Unfortunately , I am not a professional at making tutorials, but I try to help as much as I can. I use homemade fondant and a gumpaste mix (by Krazy Kool Kakes) for all my toppers. I use a kitchen scale to weigh 1.15 oz of the mix for the heads. That is the only thing I weigh everything else i do by eye balling it. If you have anything else your questioning you can always message me on my fb page! Thanks again for your helpful comments.

      Hi! Thanks so much for the comment!!! I use The Wilton Modeling Tool Set. Michaels has them, Amazon carries them also if you put Wilton Character Tool Set into the search you should be able to find them.

    What did you make the manhole cover with? I just love the tutorial, it makes me feel more confident on trying it out.

    • @BellaCakes2012
      @BellaCakes2012  10 лет назад

      Hi Leslie! It usually depends on how much time i have before i need it. If its short notice I use a cake board and cover it with fondant if I have at least a week or more I make it out of gumpaste and fondant 50/50 mix.

    Hi! Wonderful job!! Congrats!
    How many days before make the cake I can do the toppers? And what to do to keep it fresh?
    Thank you! :)

    • @BellaCakes2012
      @BellaCakes2012  9 лет назад +2

      Hi Pri! You can start on this at least 2 weeks before your cake needs to be finished. The fondant stays pretty fresh for a while. It will get a hard coating on the outside but stay soft and chewy on the inside. Texture is similar to a tootsie roll. You can store it in an air tight container or a cool dry damp free area. No refrigerating though, it will break down fondant.

      Hi Cathy You can add Tylose Powder to you fondant it will stiffen it up and make it much easier to work with. I sell it in my etsy shop.

      HI!!! How much fondant should i add to my fondant?

    • @BellaCakes2012
      @BellaCakes2012  10 лет назад

      Cathy Saint Hi Cathy sorry just noticed your comment! If your adding it to small pieces you are working with just a pinch at a time will do till you start to feel it firm up a little. I use a mix of homemade fondant and Krazy Kool Kakes gumpaste. She uses wilton fondant and adds tylose powder to it. She has a great tutorial on how to make it if you check out her channel you'll be sure to find it. It works great for making figures.

    i always feel like its too dry and cracky

    • @BellaCakes2012

      I use a lot of shortening when I'm sculpting constantly rubbing more on.

    • @xxlocalroyaltyxx
      @xxlocalroyaltyxx 10 лет назад

      BellaCakes & Confections is yours premade/store bought ? or homemade mmf? Because with homemade mmf I DEF have to keep adding it.
      I was using homemade and I think i get better results with premade.
      should i constantly be adding it to premade as well?

    • @BellaCakes2012
      @BellaCakes2012  10 лет назад

      xxlocalroyaltyxx I use Krazy Kool Kakes gum paste recipe! She made a video on it. Actually its a mix of 50/50 her gumpaste recipe and my homemade mmf recipe and I add more tylose. I think the more tylose you add the more shortening you'll need because it drys out so quickly. But I like how it keeps its shape better.
