That V12 38 litre diesel engine on that wartime tank sounded really good to be honest! Obviously no glow plugs on these engines or were there?! Nice video thank you for uploading!
I do like the sound of Soviet T-34s mostly because German tanks had mufflers that would make them quieter so they wouldn’t alert nearby enemy tank crews. The T-34s on the other hand had straight pipes.
But you are leaving out the fact that Russians would start fires under the tank to keep it warm. Doesn’t matter German or Russian oil gets pretty thick in -60 degree weather.

Yep! I'm in 70s & when 4 recall Gramps modifying an accordion kid's over-the-head back brace, to suspend 1 of his Thompsons teachin' me to shoot it w/100 shots in drum at tire bouncing down hill on full auto. Other gangsters came out to farm for fall shoot with Gramps arm in sling telling boys farmin' is dangerous! They all whined like little biotches, so Gramps offered them chance to win some of their money back against me just 4 yr old kid, but would need 20:1 odds. Maury The Mole said "BS Boss...we'll just give you 10:1 odds...ain't that right boys???" Gramps agreed, they all shot first at the tire w/cardboard square inside as had seniority. Maury The Murderer hit 22 times, Ernie The Eraser hit 35 times, and rest of crew not so pretty good. I had least seniority shooting last with 69 hits out of 100. Boys wanted to kill Gramps for screwin' 'em, but each glanced at his Luger Broomhandle Auto and finally agreed it was "Nice Shooting Boss!!" They coughed up the $2,850, Gramps added $150 to it, and Monday morning bought small house w/basement for last gang member finally getting out of prison at SPSM in Jackson. Gramps also got him job as Night Custodian at High School meeting requirements for release. And as for Gramp's Thompson, it was the sound of WW2 all over again, AND IT SOUNDED VERY IMPRESSIVE FROM WHERE i WAS STANDING!!
The Korean War also. The North Korean and Chinese armies were given a bunch of T-34/85s by Stalin to fight South Korea and the US-led UN Coalition. It's very possible my own great uncle (a US Army infantryman) may have found himself across the battlefield from some of these (maybe even on the receiving end of their shells). That 1950s war was a strange combination of World War II, World War I and modern warfare all rolled into one chaotic brawl.
Very good tank. Arguably one of the best of WWII. Great design, simplicity, reliability, good speed, decent sloped armour and powerful gun 85mm in the late versions like this. And the most important - Soviets made thousands of them.
Maybe because this looks like the outbuildings at Bovington Tank Museum... I don’t think it’s a barn find. It’s just an old exhibit. They don’t keep them all in the museum. Some live in barns and outlying buildings on the museum grounds. They rotate the exhibits in the museum and will periodically go around and start up machines that have been sat for a while.
"I love the smell of fried T-34 in the morning", said the Ukrainian. Based on a sad but true story, about how good old Vlad burned all of Russia's wealth on his mansions and told the Army to use WWII trash in a 2023 war he started himself.
Regardless of whom you sided with in WW2, every participant on the battlefield and at home had their reasons why they felt the way they did. What unites is or should unite us is the respect for ones opinions. We must continue to teach these wars and their history and impact. We all share this planet and just seeing those tanks makes me appreciate every nations sacrifice
This engine is the Kharkiv model V-2. It's all-aluminium and DOHC, so pretty damned advanced for the 1940s! This was the best tank of WWII, period. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kharkiv_model_V-2
Great find, would have been nice to see it with it's turret facing forward instead of backwards...it was just about to turn around at the end of the video!

For me the best tank in Ww2 -fast -cheap -easy to construct -angled armor -powerful cannon Panther and Tiger were better tanks but they were very expensive and difficult to construct.
Caio Augusto M4A3E8 is better than a T-34-85. >Better crew survivability >Better optics >Just as reliable >Just as inexpensive >better munitions >Has a radio for air support and communications between tank platoons The T-34 series is extremely overrated.
Martin Novák That's a myth developed by the British after WWII. They called them "Ronsons" because they "supposedly" caught fire the first time it was struck by a gun. The problem was the British. The commander would put ammunition all over the inside of the tank causing a cook-off of the ammunition storage more likely to happen. The T-34 had a higher burn rate than the M4 Sherman when the introduction of wet storage and the court marshall of any commander who stored ammunition anywhere but the ammo rack was put into place by the U.S Army.
Daddy Vladi That's not a myth. It's logical that it cought on fire when you hit the fuel tank, since there was a petrol in there. But don't get me wrong. Germans, Brits, Italians (yes, Italians had tanks...)also caught on fire, when the shell went to a fuel tank. Brits were on the same line as Sherman's, but Germans had thicker armour everywhere. And the T-34 was catching on fire less than any tank in that time, because it has diesel engine and diesel burns at higher temperatures.
Martin Novák Late war Sherman's didn't use pretrol fuel engines. What are you talking about? Like I said, that was a myth. Sherman's caught fire just as much as any other tank.
It’s insane how these tanks were built for only a 72 hour to week long life span due to losses on the front (if you know your tanks will only last a few days before being knocked out why build them to last years) yet many that did survive to today can be woken back up by a good mechanic or two. If something similar would have to be built today I guarantee it woulden’t last 10 years in storage before all of the electronic, plastic, and rubber components would be totally destroyed and the vehicle would be impossible to revive.
I think the biggest concern would be the rubber if you're talking 10 years, that can easily be replaced tho. Electronics don't fare any better if kept in bad conditions and it could be hard to find replacements for something out of service for 10 years haha.

That V12 38 litre diesel engine on that wartime tank sounded really good to be honest!
Am glad that when it did eventually fire you didn't rev the nuts out of the engine like some idiot would have done as this would have been detrimental for a cold engine which had been stationary for a long time too! Obviously no glow plugs on these engines or were there?!
Nice video thank you for uploading!
No glow plugs, but the great thing is, when the German tanks wouldn't start during Russian winters, the T-34s - with their diesel engines - would.
These engines use the air as the fuel. Diesel as the lubricant. Can run for days on end on the battle field
We find Model T's and they have Model T-34's? That isn't very fair.

Катки от Т-62 и полка на верхнем бронелисте корпуса. Сразу видно что эта машина продолжала нести службу и после Великой отечественной войны. Скорее всего эта машина была в учебной части какого нибудь танкового училища.

Can't believe it started, let alone moved! Those T34s were built like... tanks.

Т-34 самый изящный и красивый танк.
What a freaking find!! That's awsome!!
One of the best tanks made back in the day.
lmao
Well, you need like 10 of those to kill a King Tiger. So hell no, it's not good. But it could be manufactured rather quickly so that's its strength.
My all time favorite WW2 tank. Amazing Russian technology. With great admiration from Canada. Crazy carbon emission, take that Greta lol
How dare you!😅😂
Ні вибачте нае російкі технології,а танк Т -34 було зроблено на Харківському бронетанковому заводі,а Харків це Україна а не росія.

One of the most interesting tank of WW2 (T34-85)
Как бы это парадоксально не звучало, но этот танк - это стмвол мира. Вовсе не голубь там какой-то, а именно Т-34 принёс мир. Великая машина, славная.
Must be an amazing feeling to wake up the old girl from her decades of slumber in a barn. She's still got plenty of compression in her. Runs strong!
Зарычала легенда)))
Хлам, какая легенда?? ))
Легенда была вместе со сталью из которой этот аппарат сделан ,и кто все.отдал ради нас тварей
Лютый т34
Casually keeping tanks in barns, just 'in case'... you know... history tends to repeat itself XD
Very good tank. Arguably one of the best of WWII. Great design, simplicity, reliability, good speed, decent sloped armour and powerful gun 85mm in the late versions like this. And the most important - Soviets made thousands of them.
For some reason, I really like the menacing sound of this engine idling.
Hell of a barn find
Great start up!
3:23 casually has another tank
You know, as you do. Needs a spare for the weekends.
haha
oh, come on. next to this barn, there's another barn and also another T-34 inside it
jesus christ
That one has no engine inside
I know it happens more often but just the combination "barn find" and "tank" in the same sentence are just hilarious.
Офигеть больше 70 лет танку, и отлично выглялит, молодцы хорошо ухаживают за старичком.
В сталинские времена сделан.
Не гнилой, вмятин нет, краска родная, только зачем на чужбине?
I was expecting a bunch of Russians not British 😂
We do get everywhere, s'pose...
AC/DC Best group ever.
btw, next time your Brits take over the world, try to hold on to your colonies..
Alfie Goodrich thanks, was wondering about it
Well we did invent the tank in the first place....
I love the smell of T-34 in the morning - said no German ever.
"I love the smell of fried T-34 in the morning", said the Ukrainian.
Based on a sad but true story, about how good old Vlad burned all of Russia's wealth on his mansions and told the Army to use WWII trash in a 2023 war he started himself.
USSR 💪👍🤜🤛👊
Piękne brzmienie. 12 bocianów klekocze jak zgrany chór. Zero DPF, adblue czy innego gówna. Czysta radość z jazdy.

Great find, would have been nice to see it with it's turret facing forward instead of backwards...it was just about to turn around at the end of the video!
Other kids: Yooo i found old photos of my great-grandfather in the barn at my house.

This T34 Diesel engine is still being produced in Russia. It was so far ahead of its time!
Yeah those engines were used in the prime mover trucks for military use. They're also used in the trucks that are equipped with nuclear missiles and also logging truck for serious loads.
The t72 uses the same engine (highly upgraded with much more horse power)

Una máquina, una historia, una leyenda, 👏👏👏
For me the best tank in Ww2
-fast
-cheap
-easy to construct
-angled armor
-powerful cannon
Panther and Tiger were better tanks but they were very expensive and difficult to construct.
Caio Augusto M4A3E8 is better than a T-34-85.
>Better crew survivability
>Better optics
>Just as reliable
>Just as inexpensive
>better munitions
>Has a radio for air support and communications between tank platoons
The T-34 series is extremely overrated.
Daddy Vladi But Sherman's likes to catch on fire :)
Even better:
Provides own smokescreen until its ready to roll!
"Good old Stalin"! So cute and correct name on the tank tower.
UNcorrect name, they lost a letter "Й" in end of 1&2 words
@Joe Peroni oh, another thrash without any high education.... So sad
Joe Peroni Stalin saved more life’s than anybody before and after him
It’s insane how these tanks were built for only a 72 hour to week long life span due to losses on the front (if you know your tanks will only last a few days before being knocked out why build them to last years) yet many that did survive to today can be woken back up by a good mechanic or two.
