I had this same discussion with someone. One is an instant calm knowing. You just know with intuition. It is not attached to any feelings. It just is. It is kinda of a "it is what it is, now what do we do with this information". Calm. Simply accepting. Anxiety usually needs a second and I feel like it goes though some scenarios and draws a conclusion of a worse scenario and it never is a calm conclusion. I just watch my heart rate. If it changes, its usually not intuition.
Yep my heart is beating hard and I have a weird sense.. but this was not triggered by bad thoughts.. I feel grounded in my body but I know something is off. This is my intuition trying to tell me something
For me, I try to picture who from my life would be the one telling me these thoughts out loud. If the voice in my head says "don't go on that date", I try to picture, is that something I envision my big sister telling me? Or something I envision a judgemental coworker telling me? When you start to associate your inner voice with the actual voices that speak to you on a regular basis, it's a lot easier to understand which ones to trust.
feel free to go to the library and pick up my book Slow Living to learn more. OR watch my free youtube videos (search "intuition") on the subject to go deeper. This is a 60ish second youtube short. I have plenty of free long-form content going deeper into this.
My apologies, I completely misunderstood and thought you meant intrusive thoughts & voices my bad! I cant believe I missed a subject literally close to my heart! You're talking about intution & anxiety & OMG I can relate! My intuition has literally saved my life on many occasions and I never want that 'inner warning' to fail me in the future. Which included (from the age of 11), i've been 'followed home' by men a total of 5 times. Had I not had the inner warning I would not be here now. There have been other experiences of intuition which have had a positive outcome, including telling a relative that I knew her sister was going to live (she was on her death bed), and she did! It's a powerful thing.

Veed captions app!
You mention both thoughts and voices. 2 very different things. If its the latter, this is concern, so you need to be specific.
