I actually hooked up the microphone. I have used it when I'm working in the garage and the phone is connected to the bike. I've also answered the phone when riding so people can listen to the wind and they know not to call back.
About 3 weeks ago I got the same radio, 600 watt Hertz amp 4 Presion Power speakers the mistro 2 and wireless CarPlay. $2100 every bit of it was plug and play for my 2015 ultra limited. First stereo and amp I ever installed on anything. Simple. I got everything from Volunteer Audio. I would say check them out. Well worth the money.
That make my upgrading from the small screen to a big screen possible. If Fairing Exchange sells these it's a one-stop shop for going to a big screen, a proper fairing to fit and a Hog Tunes install. Costing me more money, you are.
Love your videos, that said, you know today's project went perfectly because you were working on your friends bike and not your own....thats just the way it works. Keep the rubber side down🍻
The SI model of that radio has canbus interface and the ability to display gauges though the MMR2 Maestro module included with the newer versions of the radio. If you really want one, sound stream just released a V2 version of the SI that has wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and integrated navigation as well that’s a preorder for April. I have one on order and am extremely excited. The right joystick controls the radio interface in the newer models and each switch and press can be programmed individually to customize the controls. Each has a programmable short and long press function.
I was going to comment that it appeared he installed the HDHU.14 and not the HDHU.14SI. That would be the difference with/without the gauges… I believe.
Been hoping to get one of these since they came out, but wasn't sure if they'd work with the Wild Boar. Was told last week that it would, and now you've proved it. Plus, the entertainment value of watching you, and surprising yourself with the ease of the install. Thanks again. Should probably warn Jay at Volunteer audio channel he may get some orders
I could be wrong but as I understood it the IDatalink Maestro module has to be added to Soundstreams to get the engine performance and monitor data (tire pressure, battery voltage, track pack gauges, etc). The SoundStream does blow even the new HD stereos out of the water.
I have the same stereo. I absolutely love it. You can get to several different diagnostics on the screen. You can change them to be what ever diagnostics you want to be on one of the two screens.
i have done a bunch of these…..best upgrade out there! you will need to do some tuning to tweak the sound, but best deal out there…..( the EQ is outstanding)
last year at Sturgis, the wife and I were taking a short trip down to Colorado for a couple days and back. On the way to Colorado we got in a hail storm that had some rather large hail, and the screen of my 18 street glide took one right to the center.this looks like a great replacement radio.
They have to include a mic because of the rules through apple for CarPlay. That stereo can also be mounted in several cars. So the mic can be used. That’s the baseline stereo all these other companies are now copying as far as features including the new big screen Harley radio. It’s a great radio. I chose to upgrade to the GTS because I wanted actual satellite GPS and Sirius XM. You may want to make sure the Wild Boar setting aren’t gonna fry the speakers. It’s already a much louder radio than the H-D.
@@themadhatter7718 The Soundstream radios use “wi-fi gps” like the new Harley radio and most smart phones. I don’t want that. I want actual satellite gps. I’ve ridden in areas where there was absolutely zero cell / wi-fi signal. The new gps system are fairly good at “figuring out” where you are when the signal is lost, but they are not perfect. Without a signal you also can’t get Caution Updates on weather and road conditions. With a satellite set up you don’t lose that stuff. Satellite GPS won’t even be offered anymore on any new vehicles in 2 years. It will most likely all but gone as a service in 5. Wi-Fi is just much cheaper to set up and maintain. Even satellite radio is going to switch to wi-fi streaming if you read up on it. I want to keep it all as long as I can.
I ripped out the HD Audio by ROCKFORD kit I installed 2 years back and put in the Soundstream HDHU.14Si (that is the one that gives you all the diag stuff). Also put in new amp and speakers...HUGE difference!! Contact Volunteer Audio ;)
Upgrade to the next level of that sound stream and buy the maestro module and there’s gauges on there that will monitor everything your bike monitors. I got it on mine. Super cool check it out.
I had a Sound Stream stereo installed on my 2013 CVO Road Glide. I have the same interface you showed on that bike. CarPlay on a single din radio is very cool. HDHU.9813RG
Just put on in my 16 Street Glide and Hertz 1000 and and speakers. Great radio but I only have one complaint when playing music from my USB it have no random setting At least that I can find.
Would that work on a 2012 cvo road glide?Or do the factory amps screw that up? Alway entertaining and informative content. Recommendations on front suspension upgrade..
If it is like the soundstream i put in my truck it will work good for 6 months. When i try to put radio stations presets and proper time it totally resets and i loose everything. The touch screen is so slow that i never can get it to pause on bluetooth. When its cold, it just wigs out and cycles through everything.
ide be interested but really like having the trip meter stuff(tpms) and also the backup gps system. I love android auto (wireless) on my 2020 street glide special though.
Washing the bike and something is wiggling around up inside the fairing / cowl?. Oh, a bat body the flies had found. ah, uh, pew, it was really clean after that.
you bastard......i was drinking coffee when you said "I am surprised its in" My wife chimed up with "Thats what she said" from the other room and, well, now I am wiping coffee off my computer screen. Hahahahaha good video man. Will be ordering this unit for my bike. I am having some issues with mine. Check Crazy Horse Campground near the Daytona Flea Market if you boondocking. cheap and no turn aways. tons of room.
I'm not mechanical. I'm very impressed when people do projects that they have never tackled before.

@@sparkyastwo correct, that and the maestro module is different and allows for Canbus connection

Yeah the higher end sound stream offers the ability to use the hand right controls to thumb thru the screens

Nothing I’ve ever worked on has gone that smoothly. Never. Like ever. Pretty cool setup!

I really like it, and the swap out is easy.
I've look at the Sony unit but it's not waterproof. What is that if you get caught in the rain or try and wash it.
There was some statement of waterproof on the box but I don't have it anymore. Its at last as ready for rain, etc as the stocker.@@jeffpaul738
the newest version has lots of cool features
I got one for my 22 EGS and love it also added the apple wireless CarPlay

The Soundstrem V2 has built-in wireless carplay, android atuto, XM and GPS.

I have the HDHU14si on my 2017 Street Glide Special. Love it.
Now if they'd drop the price on the 98-13 batwing model...then I'd definitely pick one up

Volunteer audio has a channel on you tube.. that's all they install on harleys... complete plug and play systems
“Lights set to purple…he’ll appreciate that” 😂😂
Have one, love it.
Just did the SI version in my bike. Also put a hertz amp and Hertz speakers all around.
Where did you get the amp and speakers?

Good work! As usual... :)

That one is 500.00 the one with the gauge options is 1100.00
The right thumb control is also a mute button just push it in and you have true mute.
The HDHU.14SI model has the interface for the gauges but I just checked and that one isn’t on sale, it’s $1K
Nice radio
What functions do you lose with the aftermarket unit? Cb, comms, etc…
There has to be a company that can replace the screen on the factory unit out there somewhere.
I have a question: does the AutoSky Wireless CarPlay Adapter work with this radio?
It does! My buddy that owns this bike uses one.
Well done Scooter!😂
Ok Buddy, I got a stumper for ya. Can you recommend a head unit for and old (2006) SG.
You’re so flipping funny! You enjoyed that you sic bastards…LOL
Ooops wrong channel that’s what I get for bouncing around!!
Another good video 😊
You are getting really Good!! We are laughing watching this!! 😂😂
Stupid question.
What is the fuel economy on your motorcycles after they are modified compared to stock?
Not a huge difference that I have noticed to be honest.
Washing the bike and something is wiggling around up inside the fairing / cowl?. Oh, a bat body the flies had found. ah, uh, pew, it was really clean after that.
Hey bro is the house next to you for sale? I got shit for neighbors and scooters are my only hobby/life Ken from Moncks corner sc
Slap an amp on it you know it needs
Already had a Wild Boar setup.
Can you see engine info or tire monitor.
Is this anything like the Sony I have seen ?
Okay okay turn it on turn it on!!! Lmfaoff 🤣🤣
Let me know what you are doing with the old one. 😊

ordered that radio also. @@Mrsmonkey5151
It's a trap... they're ( whom ever they are) giving you a false sense of accomplishment... 😮 stay alert on the next time😅
Exactly how I would have done it 😂
Thats the main reason soundstream radios are so pricey....because they are plug and play for harleys.
Gorgeous Hair Mrs Monkey have an Amazing Night out ❤️
Wait for the Sound Stream V2 To come out
Do you just really inspire your friends don’t you confidence?
