Honestly i think wilson is a very good character for new players. He is the most balanced and really in the middle of the pack. No upsides bit no downsides ether. Alot of new players dont know how to use their upsides. And how to deal with the downsides so i think he is good to learn.

So I've been mostly using ppl like Wilson, willow, woodie and Walani if I'm in shipwrecked. they are very useful but easy to use.

I wouldn't exactly call them "infinite revives", since the beard takes quite a while to grow full, and it often becomes difficult to shave it off on winter/ let it grow until full at summer. You'll get some benefits with the meat statues but I'm not certain of their reliability
@@Somersalsa i have figured that Wilson's playstyle is that of a chill/ new player, i love it, also he has upsides for your team, but if the player playing him is even a little skilled he can be a useful asset to any and every team, but it is pretty neat and arguably a relatively relaible source of beard hair and revives
He's definitely best explorer wise because it's easy to become weregoose while wx78 needs lightning to become faster, and Wortox needs constant souls. Woodie can also find Lunar island EXTREMELY quickly, way faster than any other character.

@@baloocallout678 Stone fruit is actually really really good because you can store them up until you have a chest full of them, then just blow it up with a gunpowder and you have a crap ton of rocks, (which I use to builds lots of farms), ripe stone fruit (turn it into manure for farm, rot for booster shot, or used in Crock-Pot, or saved in a bundling wrap). Thats usually why I try to get as much grass turfs as possible at least 60. I usually don't care about the crafts other than the moon glass sword because it's extremely easy to make with the boards needed because, well you're woodie😂
I'd pick Walters ability to ride Woby as his biggest strength, not the extra slots... Makes early-game exploration much faster and transporting marble pieces for shadow boss fight removes the need to tediously tame a beefalo...
I don't know, the most ideal day to kill shadow pieces would be 100+ until you get everything and your only worry is to kill fuelwaver, and you can get a 10% speed boost even in day 5, which is faster than walter in some cases, and woby doesn't stack with walking cane etc.

He feels like a support character to me, because of all of his skills put together I’m normally able to ride out, collect for and cure my fellow survivors sanity or health problems.
Wolfgang's power, Wigfrid's many tanking tools (songs, general tankiness, helmets), Woodie's moose form, Wickerbottom making WX-78 OP with the end is nigh, wendy's abigail, winona's weaponry, walter's ranged damage and freezes, wortox's soul healing, willow's BERNIE!! and maxwell's clones could shred through any boss so easily together

Yes, but she gains 33% more hunger points (and i think sanity points and health points) from fruits, vegetables, fruit dishes and vegetable dishes. She can carry around a couple fist full of jams and she's good. She gets less sanity drain and health drain from them too. The merms she befriends can act as Maxwell's helpers, but without the huge sanity loss. Plus, I relate to her and her nickname is literally "The Half-Pint." (That part doesn't have to do with anything but i felt like adding it in.) She can also hold live fish as a small sanity boost, (and she lets them live longer while she holds them.)slippery tools don't affect her in any way, and she's also cute. I play her quite often, she's one of my favorites :p I think she's a really good character imo, and her positives are greater in amount than her negatives.
They should make a witch character, each season she makes a huge ritual with good food for the gods (she would make a good squad with warly and woodie) when the ritual is finished she buffs everyone stats permanently until the next season, each season requires different God/goddess statues and food, and decoration. She can sacrifice wes for gaining an elemental armor or to gain the book of shadows from the demons (Wich can resurrect anyone and draws sanity and power from shadows and darkness)
personally I’d say warlys a more interesting challenge character then wes, having to keep crock pot variety is a more interesting challenge then just bad stats and damage. Also if u switch to him for spices you can put them on powdercakes so they last over 1000 days
Powder cakes last over 18750 days, you don't need spices. That being said, I also think he is more of a challenge character than Wes. He is so bad and his spices are a pain to farm, he basically needs to sit at base all day and the buffs he gives to his team aren't worth it.
Woodie is probably best not in terms of singular abilities but in team play, he’s your “pick up the slack” character, great for teams with inexperienced wolfgangs and maxwells-or teams lacking them because of their small size. Kind of like how Willow is best for big teams that need that specialized shadow monster support
Problem with Walter is that to go insane starting at max sanity through getting hit, he has to take 100 DAMAGE. To add to that, he has a lower-than-usual health stat so if he was at max health he'd be on 30. Best way to go insane as Walter is to eat sanity-harming food, which any character can do.
Luke as a Walter main the problem with Walter is that he takes sanity damage while being hurt . On top of that when your health gets to low I think it was like when it reaches 90 it constantly drains . So while fighting mobs your also fighting terror beaks . You could wear the hat and log armor but can’t have a football helmet or a backpack

I think Warly's pretty good. I've gotten used to his downsides, and his upsides are really fun and effective. Overall, I think Warly is fun character as long as you're up for the challenge. Or if you just like the sound of steel drums
Warly + Wolfgang = Uh, how did Toadstool die in like 40 seconds? What a lot of people don't mention with Warly when they rank him is just how insane volt goat jelly is. That, with the damage spice + rain = a 3x damage increase if you can get the enemy wet via rain. With Wolfgang, its a 6x damage multipler so that ham bat is going to be doing 300 a swing.
Wilson's main upside is that he's an all-rounder. Average stats with average drain of hunger and sanity, and his beard can be useful come winter. Because he's an all-rounder, he lacks a true downside beyond not having anything
You have 1 problem with this video: you're talking about characters in a completely solo perspective. This game is called Don't Starve *together,* and obviously some characters will be designed with multiple people in mind. For example, Wigfrid is actually the best at longevity. Her leeching allows her to fight much longer than wolfgang would, while keeping an above average damage output. Also her spears are not by any means hot garbage. They work great as backup weapons because of how cheap they are, do more than enough damage to get the job done, and are by far the best early game weapons. After the rework, she is probably also the best character for raid bosses. When you get a large group of people together to take down something like toadstool or the fuelweaver, her songs will be AMAZING. She truly is the star of the show now, as she basically has full control over boss fights if you can give her a team to work with. Also if you combine her with Warly, you just win. Speaking of warly, if he is on any server with more than a few people he is one of the best characters in the game. His spices and unique dishes make almost any challenge trivial with the right setup. You can't just think of this in a vacuum, these characters were designed with multiplayer in mind, so of course some will be worse on their own. But in a team setting, EVERYONE is helpful. Except Wes. Don't play him with other people, you will just waste all of the resources.
Pretty true i think that wurt has more upsides, because merms are good at farming rocks and wood and how rick said that is cheap to make merms friends.If she get merm king buff merms will be frendly to players and wurt will get pretty good stats.YEA she is vegetarian and for that she gets 33%bonus and now with the new farm update the patatoes are easy to get and they are very good healing item
First off spear has always been Hot garbage to make bcs ham bat exists and is cheap to make. You dont need somebody like warly to play constantly with you bcs he cant make spices 24 7 and sit at base that is just gonna be time waste. That is why warly is a once in a while change character.

Great video, couldn't disagree more about Warly though. Late game the volt froid and chili spices (even the honey spice) are super OP. Instead of only being able to solo the top tier bosses with Wolfgang or using crazy strats like bunnymen armies or flingo exploits, the spices give way to being able to use any character you want.
Also can I just add, that after rework Wendy is good at killing some bosses (not one with area of damage). Just put some armor and tank for Abi for moar damage. And don't forget food. And spectral-cure-all for emergency.
I usualy make abi tank with spectreal cure all ususaly be able to outheal the damage.also wendy actualy deals more damage then other charachters while abi making them vulnrable
As a Willow main I think you're super wrong about Willow's best use JUST being killing shadow creatures. Like sure that's something that she can do pretty well, but you can't let those terror beaks keep hitting Bernie, as each hit takes away about 5% of his health, which is devastating. It's best to use Bernie to tank and distract strong creatures, even bosses, and then you'll have to go off and kill a terror beak every once in a while so he doesn't die too fast. The main issue I have with Willow, is trying to go insane fast. I usually just use green mushrooms, but you need a supply of living logs to grow them, which can be hard to get.
Walter is the best for exploration. Given that he doesn't lose sanity (unless he takes damage) and the fact he spawns with a free Chester and temporary Beefalo, makes him top tier for exploration.
Wortox might be easy but he is so fun and nice to play with Wormwood. Wormwood gives living logs at the cost of his HP, Wortox can heal it. Also because Wortox needs to eat souls pretty much, your sanity is low which gives you easy nightmare fuel. Dark swords ftw
everyone know wigrid > wolfgang, u can literally live on spiders, u can eat the monster meat and then heal ur sanity, she never dies, and doesnt need sanity health or hunger, i think she is like the carry, she can solo get all the food for 2 others and all the materials
The other thing I discovered about Wortox is that when you open the world map, he can teleport to literally anywhere he's been before, provided he has the souls to do so. If I'm ever caught in the dark, I can open the map and quick teleport to base camp.
@@thelostone7512 After like... 10 days in game, you don't have to worry about food anymore... plant 30 berry bushes and you'll have enough meatballs to be strong anytime you want... I'm pretty sure you get faster too, so you can just eat to travel aswell. Drying racks also help a lot.
@@thelostone7512 If you're weakened by hunger it's because you aren't fighting enough, use your muscle or lose it. Accelerated hunger and hunger actually being important past 1 point is what makes wolfgang one of the only characters in don't starve where the goal is actually to not starve. This game would be more challenging if you actually got weakened on every single character if you only had like 75 or less hunger.

Wigfrid's update came out during this time, she still has her usual fighter buffs but now has songs she can sing when her new Inspiration meter is filled in battle alone to a certain point. Songs are group benefiting buffs, these are weapon durability increase, health and sanity leaching (Similar to her own buffs), less sanity drain, instant monster aggression to her alone, and instant panic state to any monsters near her.
Wormwood has many other uses, Despite not being able to heal from food. He is/does: Immune to eyeplant, can harvest leafy meat from it A straight up bee farm in spring Work well with wortox Work well with wickerbottom Work well with webber Work well with Warly will make ungodly amounts of dragon fruit if given the chance
I would have to disagree with some of this, mostly just down to wording, but for example I would say Wigfrid is much better at combat as a whole than Wolfgang, only because Wolfgang needs to constantly be at high hunger to be good, whereas Wigfrid (despite having lower stats than high-hunger Wolfgang) is great at combat all the time whether her stats are higher or not. Also Woodie is an amazing character, instead of having one main trait he has almost all of them, the only downside being you lose your hunger after were-transforming. Aside from those, great video!!
When i didnt even know about don't starve and decided to buy it i saw the wx-78 and i thought he looked cool then after playing the game i looked up some tier lists and saw that he is really good
I agree for almost everything except walter mainly when you play in groups cause he's able to tell ghost stories at campfires to raise people's sanity. It's really nice for new players who have trouble with their sanity, but other than that I do agree with his overall assessment
As a Wormwood main, Warly and Wormwood have always had amazing synergy. Wormwood sorta nullifies any and all issues with the farming taking ages, as he can easily create items which boost plant growth. And Warly helps out with sanity increasing foods, damage buffs, etc. Wormwood is also extremely good at managing sanity, as just planting some seeds from random birds all over the place is all he really needs in order to go from 0 sanity to full.
I prefer using Walters, Wilson, Webber, or Wendy (ill update this with time) Walters - quick travel and extra storage; although he's allergic to bees, its not hard to avoid them (used 35% of the time) Wilson - nothing good nor bad; I like having the neutral tactic and buffing characters up with items and having his beard helps (used 20% of the time) Webber - I love having the ability to eat monster food and not agitating spiders; I also like the simple webbed beard that can replace needed silk (used 45% of the time) Wendy - I love having a simple character with a carried character to help with dire situations. Not only that, Abigail gets stronger with time; also I love her voice lol; also she gets an attack booster when Abigail is in use (used 10% of the time)
mi favorite one is webber. the way you can spam silk and always have a big ass army of spiders on your side is just amazing. i consider it a very underated character
Fun Fact: Wortox can teleport ANYWHERE you’ve already explored using souls via the map. It just costs more souls depending on how far you need to go. So Wortox is also good at quickly providing extra armor or food during boss fights.
4:13 ah but you see, he’s them all in one even if his powers are a bit weaker, plus: maxwell is frail, you can’t get wortox right away, wx78 has water problems and Wolfgang gets as weak as Wendy when he doesn’t have food. As a last explanation to why he’s good, *he’s canadian*
Wurt is amazing. -really good at mining/tree felling because she can chop down a while forest with a few axe swings. -she's a vegetarian so leave the meat to the others. -a single merm is rough. Utilizing 12? Once their attacks come out of sync they can stun lock enemies. You can also build a few merm huts next to a spider nest or tentacle spawn for infinite silk, sacs, and glands and tentacle spots/bats. When a merm dies pick up the fish and regain sanity. -the boost she gets late game is awesome. - she's one of two characters who can read Wickerbottom's books and cast the effect.

Except you don't need to tame a beefalo to ride it. You just need to make a saddle and feed it some twigs or lightbulbs.
Except that you only need like 10 twigs max to tame a beefalo long enough to transport marble pieces, making exploration the only strength of Woby.

Powder cakes last over 18750 days, you don't need spices. That being said, I also think he is more of a challenge character than Wes. He is so bad and his spices are a pain to farm, he basically needs to sit at base all day and the buffs he gives to his team aren't worth it.

Woodie is probably best not in terms of singular abilities but in team play, he’s your “pick up the slack” character, great for teams with inexperienced wolfgangs and maxwells-or teams lacking them because of their small size. Kind of like how Willow is best for big teams that need that specialized shadow monster support
Warly is great for learning crock pot recipes and for long journeys to explore the map since he has a portable crockpot.
You forgot the other thing Walters best at doing.
Going insane
Problem with Walter is that to go insane starting at max sanity through getting hit, he has to take 100 DAMAGE. To add to that, he has a lower-than-usual health stat so if he was at max health he'd be on 30. Best way to go insane as Walter is to eat sanity-harming food, which any character can do.

Luke as a Walter main the problem with Walter is that he takes sanity damage while being hurt . On top of that when your health gets to low I think it was like when it reaches 90 it constantly drains . So while fighting mobs your also fighting terror beaks . You could wear the hat and log armor but can’t have a football helmet or a backpack

As a Warly main, I can say that the reap what you sow update was a great buff. He's now almost biger of a farmer than wormwood. Really fun for dst

I think Warly's pretty good. I've gotten used to his downsides, and his upsides are really fun and effective. Overall, I think Warly is fun character as long as you're up for the challenge.

Warly + Wolfgang = Uh, how did Toadstool die in like 40 seconds?
What a lot of people don't mention with Warly when they rank him is just how insane volt goat jelly is. That, with the damage spice + rain = a 3x damage increase if you can get the enemy wet via rain. With Wolfgang, its a 6x damage multipler so that ham bat is going to be doing 300 a swing.
The best use for woodie is tree guards, they bearly spawn when I'm playing any other character except woodie
While yes, a lot of the new characters are really weak, they're all unique and fun. I'm glad they exist. Oh and please give warley a buff
Wilson's main upside is that he's an all-rounder. Average stats with average drain of hunger and sanity, and his beard can be useful come winter.

You have 1 problem with this video: you're talking about characters in a completely solo perspective. This game is called Don't Starve *together,* and obviously some characters will be designed with multiple people in mind.
For example, Wigfrid is actually the best at longevity. Her leeching allows her to fight much longer than wolfgang would, while keeping an above average damage output. Also her spears are not by any means hot garbage. They work great as backup weapons because of how cheap they are, do more than enough damage to get the job done, and are by far the best early game weapons. After the rework, she is probably also the best character for raid bosses. When you get a large group of people together to take down something like toadstool or the fuelweaver, her songs will be AMAZING. She truly is the star of the show now, as she basically has full control over boss fights if you can give her a team to work with. Also if you combine her with Warly, you just win. Speaking of warly, if he is on any server with more than a few people he is one of the best characters in the game. His spices and unique dishes make almost any challenge trivial with the right setup. You can't just think of this in a vacuum, these characters were designed with multiplayer in mind, so of course some will be worse on their own. But in a team setting, EVERYONE is helpful.
Except Wes. Don't play him with other people, you will just waste all of the resources.

Great video, couldn't disagree more about Warly though. Late game the volt froid and chili spices (even the honey spice) are super OP. Instead of only being able to solo the top tier bosses with Wolfgang or using crazy strats like bunnymen armies or flingo exploits, the spices give way to being able to use any character you want.
Also can I just add, that after rework Wendy is good at killing some bosses (not one with area of damage). Just put some armor and tank for Abi for moar damage. And don't forget food. And spectral-cure-all for emergency.
I usualy make abi tank with spectreal cure all ususaly be able to outheal the damage.also wendy actualy deals more damage then other charachters while abi making them vulnrable
As a Willow main I think you're super wrong about Willow's best use JUST being killing shadow creatures. Like sure that's something that she can do pretty well, but you can't let those terror beaks keep hitting Bernie, as each hit takes away about 5% of his health, which is devastating. It's best to use Bernie to tank and distract strong creatures, even bosses, and then you'll have to go off and kill a terror beak every once in a while so he doesn't die too fast. The main issue I have with Willow, is trying to go insane fast. I usually just use green mushrooms, but you need a supply of living logs to grow them, which can be hard to get.
What was missed about wormwood is that he can heal with rot/manure/other fertilisers. Might be a more recent update though.
Walter is the best for exploration. Given that he doesn't lose sanity (unless he takes damage) and the fact he spawns with a free Chester and temporary Beefalo, makes him top tier for exploration.
warly is only worth playing with if a friend picks wormwood so you can have infinite spice farms

Wortox might be easy but he is so fun and nice to play with Wormwood.
Wormwood gives living logs at the cost of his HP, Wortox can heal it.
Also because Wortox needs to eat souls pretty much, your sanity is low which gives you easy nightmare fuel. Dark swords ftw

The other thing I discovered about Wortox is that when you open the world map, he can teleport to literally anywhere he's been before, provided he has the souls to do so. If I'm ever caught in the dark, I can open the map and quick teleport to base camp.

@@thelostone7512 After like... 10 days in game, you don't have to worry about food anymore... plant 30 berry bushes and you'll have enough meatballs to be strong anytime you want... I'm pretty sure you get faster too, so you can just eat to travel aswell. Drying racks also help a lot.
@@thelostone7512 If you're weakened by hunger it's because you aren't fighting enough, use your muscle or lose it. Accelerated hunger and hunger actually being important past 1 point is what makes wolfgang one of the only characters in don't starve where the goal is actually to not starve.
This game would be more challenging if you actually got weakened on every single character if you only had like 75 or less hunger.
I mean if your good at the game. Warly is pretty good with the fact that you can give a werepig a stack of lightbulbs for easy farms.

Wigfrid's update came out during this time, she still has her usual fighter buffs but now has songs she can sing when her new Inspiration meter is filled in battle alone to a certain point. Songs are group benefiting buffs, these are weapon durability increase, health and sanity leaching (Similar to her own buffs), less sanity drain, instant monster aggression to her alone, and instant panic state to any monsters near her.

A straight up bee farm in spring
Work well with wortox
Work well with wickerbottom
Work well with webber

I would have to disagree with some of this, mostly just down to wording, but for example I would say Wigfrid is much better at combat as a whole than Wolfgang, only because Wolfgang needs to constantly be at high hunger to be good, whereas Wigfrid (despite having lower stats than high-hunger Wolfgang) is great at combat all the time whether her stats are higher or not. Also Woodie is an amazing character, instead of having one main trait he has almost all of them, the only downside being you lose your hunger after were-transforming. Aside from those, great video!!

I agree for almost everything except walter mainly when you play in groups cause he's able to tell ghost stories at campfires to raise people's sanity. It's really nice for new players who have trouble with their sanity, but other than that I do agree with his overall assessment
As a Wormwood main, Warly and Wormwood have always had amazing synergy. Wormwood sorta nullifies any and all issues with the farming taking ages, as he can easily create items which boost plant growth. And Warly helps out with sanity increasing foods, damage buffs, etc. Wormwood is also extremely good at managing sanity, as just planting some seeds from random birds all over the place is all he really needs in order to go from 0 sanity to full.
I prefer using Walters, Wilson, Webber, or Wendy (ill update this with time)
Walters - quick travel and extra storage; although he's allergic to bees, its not hard to avoid them (used 35% of the time)
Wilson - nothing good nor bad; I like having the neutral tactic and buffing characters up with items and having his beard helps (used 20% of the time)
Webber - I love having the ability to eat monster food and not agitating spiders; I also like the simple webbed beard that can replace needed silk (used 45% of the time)
Wendy - I love having a simple character with a carried character to help with dire situations. Not only that, Abigail gets stronger with time; also I love her voice lol; also she gets an attack booster when Abigail is in use (used 10% of the time)

Fun Fact: Wortox can teleport ANYWHERE you’ve already explored using souls via the map. It just costs more souls depending on how far you need to go. So Wortox is also good at quickly providing extra armor or food during boss fights.

-really good at mining/tree felling because she can chop down a while forest with a few axe swings.
-she's a vegetarian so leave the meat to the others.
-a single merm is rough. Utilizing 12? Once their attacks come out of sync they can stun lock enemies. You can also build a few merm huts next to a spider nest or tentacle spawn for infinite silk, sacs, and glands and tentacle spots/bats. When a merm dies pick up the fish and regain sanity.
-the boost she gets late game is awesome.
- she's one of two characters who can read Wickerbottom's books and cast the effect.
