      Standard royal protocol.

Charles and Camilla appear so comfortable together, far more in tune with each other than he and Diana ever were. So much grief might've been spared had he been allowed to marry Camilla in the 1st place. But oh no, Camilla was seen as unsuitable because she had a 'history' a 'reputation'. Archaic protocol and tradition dictated he, as heir to the throne, must marry a virgin ... and look who ended up with, a naive, emotionally unstable girl who thought she was marrying into some kind of Disney fairytale. Camilla has stood the test of time and is ideal for Charles.

Well, I just have to ask you, JB, why it is that a very beautiful and charming young woman, who has told her sisters that she wants to marry UPWARDS (but is already the daughter of an earl) ....... why would she marry a man 13 years her senior, with a balding head and a face like a spaniel, and two much handsomer younger brothers?
Why on earth would she marry the man whose wife will one day be Queen ,....... when THAT is absolutely ALL that he has to offer a dumb blonde who likes pop music, swimming, and soppy love stories?
Why did a woman as beautiful and gracious as Melania marry Donald Trump? Why would ANY beautiful gracious young woman marry a balding, boring man many years their senior?
No. It wasn't an arranged marriage.
No. He did not pursue HER. It was the other way round.
So what did she see in him..........since she was not interested in ANYTHING that he enjoyed (except, perhaps, James Bond movies).
Can't you figure this, without having it spelled out to you?

No, they didn't CHOOSE Diana. Diana CHARMED him. That was made absolutely clear by Diana herself, quite a few years down the track.
It may have APPEARED to the public as if Diana was "chosen", particularly as her grandmother, Lady Fermoy, was the Queen Mother's Lady in Waiting.
But it was not like that at all.
      >
Diana acted with considerable cunning. She KNEW that if Charles slept with her before marriage, then being single and apparently a virgin, she would be "compromised" if he did NOT marry her. If he slept with her, as a single girl, then he was OBLIGED to do the gentlemanly thing by her. As a Prince and a Gentleman.
      >
So on TWO occasions, she took herself down to Highgrove. On the first occasion, she went with him, at a time when she would have to stay overnight.
So Charles arranged the most convenient chaperone........Guess Who?.......... and when they arrived, Camilla opened the door.
      Diana was absolutely OUTRAGED.
      >
The second time, she turned up, unannounced, and with her wash-bag and nightie. When this got back to the Duke, he told Charles that, whether he had slept with her or not, he should consider that the young lady was "compromised" by this event. Charles took this as an instruction to marry her, which was the only gentlemanly thing to do, under the circumstances.
      >
So THAT was how the highly unsuitable marriage was arranged, because of the manipulation by a cunning and ambitious young woman,.
      >
Just keep in mind that the woman you are insistent on defending, had already got several nannies sacked, before she even went to boarding school, had been physically violent to both her father and step mother, and who had spent years trying to pay back her mother for divorcing her father.
      >
JEALOUSY was absolutely embedded in Diana's psyche. She had gotten rid of those Nannies because she IMAGINED her father might fall in love with one of them.
Similarly, she perceived every female friend that Charles had had, as a threat...... but Camilla in particular, because SHE was the most supportive.
      >
Getting rid of people was Diana's way of dealing with threats. She banned Charles's friends, she dismissed his valets, she got rid of his house servants !!FORTY!! of them.
She even got rid of the DOG that loved him, an old Labrador. The staff were desperately upset about her behaviour, and so was Charles.
      >
When you see Donald Trump, you are probably able to see him as typically "narcissistic". His blustering and big-noting and dismissal of people, his lies, and his misrepresentations....... they are all easily recognisable as narcissistic tendencies.
But when a person is sweet appealing, and charms people with apparent empathy, then it can be much harder to recognise that thy too, are narcissistic.......
that the sweet gentle exterior hides a turmoil of neediness.........manifesting in a HUGE demand for attention..........
      >
When this gentle person tilts her head on one side, gazes out of her enormous blue eyes, and talks in the sweetest of voices........ it is very hard to hear the LIES that she is telling.
All that soft, blue-eyed, hushy-voiced stuff, all the accusations of the hurts she has so cruelly suffered, all the wrong things he said and did......... it is all attention-seeking lies from a woman who is known to have had eleven men in eleven years...... that can be named........ and still others, like the two officers that I overheard discussing her sexuality very publicly near Wellington Barracks, just across from Buckingham Palace.
      >
Diana, like Trump, was acutely narcissistic, and CHARITY was (pardon the pun) Diana's trump card, when it came to playing the game of Public popularity, and the demolition of her long-suffering husband.

A hand kiss is considered the proper gesture from a man to a woman of higher royal rank. And yes, Charles usually does a neck bow as he kisses the hand so that is his way of showing respect.

I love Queen Sonja's red outfit! This must have been such a jolly party. All the monarch's turned up, or sent a representative, with the notable exception of King Juan Carlos of Spain....... who carries a grudge over Gibraltar.
HA!! They also had a luncheon party, at which a group photo was taken with three rows of Reigning Heads of State.
In this photo, there are not one but three entertaining things taking place.
Firstly, the Queen has seated on either side of her two very elderly kings, both of whom have been deposed Romania and Bulgaria. But they are in places of honour.
Secondly, one of the most junior, taken up his place in the front row, and with his typical gross arrogance, is seated slouched and with his legs wide apart, taking up more than his space. This is the King of Swaziland, who treats himself to a new wife every year, selected from the beautiful virgins brought in to dance on his Birthday.......Yes, this still happens. OK. Seated on either side of him are the King of Sweden, and the very tall Hans-Adam of Liechtenstein. They have each planted one foot firmly in front of the feet of the King of Swaziland, so he is either going to have to wait upon them, or fall over their feet.
Thirdly, Monaco, Luxembourg, and Belgium, who are all rather closely related, are having a serious jibe at a particular close connection on the Bourbon-Habsburg line, and the King of Lesotho is cracking up! They have arranged for two rulers in the back row, Kuwait and Abu-Dhabi, to stand with a person-sized GAP between them, making the one King very noticeable by his absence.
The photo itself tells you exactly who is party to this joke, and who is an innocent bystander.

I don’t think King Juan Carlos of Spain holds a grudge on his British relations over Gibraltar, but it’s the Spanish government that made the advice not to attend. The king and Queen Sofía didn’t attend the Prince of Wales’ wedding in 1981 over Gibraltar, did not attend the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh’s 50th wedding anniversary in 1997.
