In my opinion, Mary Badham's portrayal of Scout is the best performance I've ever seen done by an actress.

I read the book again just last week. Everytime Atticus speaks in the book I hear Gregory Peck's voice and I see Mr peck standing, sitting, shooting like he did in the movie.
The actors and the characters are forever one in my mind.
This movie is a classic and no one should ever attempt to remake it or colorize it. Leave it black and white.
    Atticus has exited.

She looks the same, and seems like such a nice person to sit and chat with.. Timeless movie and book. A little trivia, John Badham, her older brother, directed the movie Saturday Night Fever.

Our class was given the assignment of reading the book before I saw the movie and, when I finally did see the movie, I was struck by the fact that visual experience was absolutely identical to what I had imagined when I read the book. Obviously, Harper Lee's writing was so descriptive that the set designer saw what I imagined when reading the book. That's the mark of a talented writer. TRIVIA: Harper Lee and Truman Capote (another talented writer) were life-long friends and collaborators.
