I went to Amsterdam on a last minute trip by myself about 6 years ago and wanted to see a show and they were playing at The Melkweg. I never heard of them but listened to 1 song on Spotify and bought a ticket. Best way to discover a great band!
Does traveling alone get scary? I'd love to do that, but especially in another country, I'd be nervous about getting lost or having an emergency 😬 but I digress. I live on the Gulf Coast where we have so much music, so driving to the beaches is how I too have found great music
@@hblackburn5580 as an older guy... no, never been scared, even when in what some may consider "shady" areas (hello, Chicago blues taverns, yes,,, I'm talking about you! lol). Just be smart, don't look / act like a tourist, keep valuables close / hidden / protected / minimized, be aware 360° of surroundings, watch light watch shadows but do NOT be paranoid, just aware, smile, be confident, have fun!
@@hblackburn5580 it can be unnerving, but as long as you stay aware of what is around you, you will be fine. Remember, fear diminishes the closer you get to it. Don't let fear control your life. YOU control the fear. You won't regret traveling solo. Trust me
jenny sings very well and soulful, whilst, rosa has this vibe, even if it doesn't sound like she's on tune, kinda what makes the song "I really want to stay at your house" one of a kind and different... makes me want to dance around and bang my head... love the band!
Something I saw pop up after Edgerunners, was that synths make it very, very difficult. Something to do with the true pitch of an electronic instrument, versus the imperfections of a physical instrument make it unforgiving to impossible to match. Throw in any combination of nerves, fatigue, wrong food, and the difference becomes really apparent.
Rosa has a more strong or raw regional 'accent'. Both sound British but Rosa more so. I like it tbh but I'm a fan of 'unpolished' british singers like MJ Garside.
@@rossg9701Her chorus is processed; with planning she could make it happened on the trigger of a pedal rather than a backing track. The synthesisers have no effect on her voice unless relaying on an inbuilt vocoder, but that would be bedroom studio level music production, lol.
Flight canceled... Missed them in Birmingham UK, gutted.... How are these girls not superstars?? I've been listening to music for 40+ years. They are genuinely brilliant... Go LEG!
Thanks KEXP for sharing Let's Eat Grandma for the third time. Love their music very much. Hope that the once planned European Tour will happen some day eventually.
Great live performance from Let's Eat Grandma! Watching You Go reminds me a-bit of Blondie, and Two Ribbons is an awesome song! Jenny's vocal performance was amazing! ;-)
I honestly get the feeling they'd be so much fun to see in a crowded room. So glad they finally did KEXP again post-Cyberpunk. They're p solid on record, but also I've seen a bunch of people talking about how pitchy some of the performances are. Might be an off day/them being tired from tour, but also u see Rosa in particular having trouble with her monitors. Synths don't usually have stage volume like guitars/bass unless they have a dedicated amp (ime, it's straight into PA a lot of the time), so you're at the wedges' or iems' mercy. Even experienced performers have trouble keeping pitch if they can't hear each other. Also helps that on a bunch of the songs they're actually moving around, so I kinda get it. That shit is maddening to experience first-hand, and they still sold the experience well enough regardless.
This is fair, I don't think their live vocals are the strongest part of their repertoire by a long way, but the song writing, innovation and experimentation more than make up for it imo
Saw them live in a club (100 people or so) in 2018. Sounded good to me. Maybe the volume helps. What I don't like about their live performances is the live drums, doesn't suit their bright electronic sound me thinks.
I saw them play live at their Vancouver stop in this tour literally the day after the KEXP performance was recorded. The show was a lot of fun. I thought they sounded great!
Ihre Stimme ist einzigartig. Durch dieses Lied bin ich erst aufmerksam auf diese Band geworden. EInfach Nice diese Girls. Hope they come to Germany. Anytime...i will buy tickets. ;)
Loved to hear the commentary about David Wrench - recently stumbled across Audiobooks. Jenny & Rosa are both brilliant, love that more people have found them through the Cyberpunk song too.
They've flipped genres several times and I haven't always been onboard with their experimentations, but I really appreciate Let's Eat Grandma's palpable love of music and performing, their sincerity always wins me over
Cyberpunk Edgerunners introduced me to this band. Saw their live show at their Vancouver stop. It was great! The show was a lot of fun and and they sounded fantastic despite the cramped stage at the Biltmore.
I only stumbled across these guys after watching Cyberpunk Edgerunners. I wish I hadn't put off watching it so long and I'd have found this sooner. Two Ribbons bought tears to my eyes then the bitter sweet follow up track I Really Want to Stay at Your House continued the tears but actually left me uplifted.
1) Having had the opportunity to see LEG live recently in Denver, they were absolutely INCREDIBLE. I’ve been to hundreds of concerts, but honestly they are in the top 5😊 2) Troy is an awesome host. 4) Thank you, KEXP, for always supporting artists like LEG, and more.
LEG seem like they have a bit more energy with an audience when the play live. So much creativity and talent on display though, so its exciting to see what they do next with their sound. Also, Jenny really brings vocally it on Elevation, always super cool to see and hear that one.
I just watched the video and thought exactly the same! I immediately looked to see if they had come here and was relieved to see they didn’t….or I’d have REALLY been kicking myself.
Sorry dude, you just missed it. They did a North American tour hitting major cities in Nov 2022. The video we're watching was recorded just before their Seattle show.
@@chrispolo840 chances are extremely slim that I will. I'm still shocked that I enjoy LEG. And that's only because i loved their song in Cyberpunk so much most likely.

And the acoustics and sound in Melkweg is great as well!

lovin to see Let's Eat Grandma getting more recognition they deserve
They just need one more hit on an anime or game and they probably will.
They look like they are having fun, and that's what makes this performance so good

My favorite punk rockers. Well, they are not punk rockers but they are my favourite tunesmiths.
Their show in Salt Lake was amazing! They have so much energy while preforming, they’re so much fun to see live!
Seen them play twice and they just get better . Two Ribbons one of my favourite albums of 2022.

Seeing such confident and talented 20 somethings is amazing. I feel this generation rising as the sun beats through the glass.
Yaaay, finally a good live recording of I Really Want to Stay At You House from the Cyberpunk soundtrack - awesome!

Can't stop watching this. Should be a Live EP release.
Since the closure of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway, the best thing to come out of Norwich have been Rosa and Jenny.
