  • He has been called the greatest living art forger in the world. Arrested as an art forger in 1989, Southern California resident Tony Tetro became in 1991 the only living American artist slapped with a court order mandating that he clearly sign his name to the back of every work he creates, so they can’ be passed off as originals and sold for outrageous sums of money to unwary art collectors. With a new book about his life recently published, and a documentary in the works, Tetro and his co-author Giampiero Ambrosi discuss the life of an art forger.

IT'S a pity he isn't teaching art. Tony is incredibly knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. He should do a book on art and Caravagio

I have just read the book he had so much money in his hands at one time. He was a very clever man but like everybody else with faults. The book is an excellent read.

The story of the recreation of Ferrari was just incredible, Tony took advantage of his time. These days it would have been almost impossible. Still, incredible dude.

Would be better if the interviewer actually read the book.

Aside from letting the guests talk, the host exuded, as an interviewer, a genuine interest in the subject, and she never talked down on the guest, who even reacted “That’s a good question!” It was like eavesdropping on a bracing after-dinner conversation. The host’s closing remarks, a summation, was very well done. She was clearly prepared.
