I recently watched the whole series again, and fell in love with Don Draper. I loved the nuanced and deep portrayal by Jon Hamm. He was neither a good guy nor a bad guy, but a multi-dimensional man, flawed and gifted. This actor's intelligence shines through the role.
I fully intended to watch Mad Men when it first came out, but life happened and I missed the entire series. I just watched all of it two weeks ago and I am floored by John Hamm. He is 1000% brilliant in the show. Your eyes never leave him. Timothy Dalton is my favorite actor in the Universe, and John Hamm just might be his equal.
Don is a coward, self centred to the point of narcissism, misogynistic, morally corrupt. Anything that he does that is decent is done purely for effect. If you fall in love with a guy like that, you will come out of it badly.
Once in a while someone comes along and owns a character with such skill that we can't even imagine anyone else playing it; like Jon Hamm and Don Draper.
Just finished the show. It`s so interesting to see clips from the pilot and see how young they all were back then. It feels like you`ve grown up with them towards the end.
HrTjernobyl I know right especially Bobby sally and gene and it’s sad that the show is over I cried when I finished the show I am now rewatching it on Netflix
It's the nature of the beast... we like to look at them but as long as one also recognizes the talent, I see nothing wrong with it. Many great female actors get overlooked as nothing more than pretty faces... far more than men do.
What a fantastic casting decision to put him in as the lead, never seen him before but the subject matter appealed to me and it is one of best series I have ever seen, he was excellent and the whole cast were, it is depressing that it ended.
Jon was perfect for the Don Draper/Dick Whitman role. Very intelligent. Working class background. And he lost his mom at age 10, then lost his dad at age 20. Broken childhood.
Of course she is. Which lesson the interview. And, the way she was dressed. She was like flaunting it, if front of his face. And, it did distract from the interview. She looked like a dog in heat.
My mom started smoking when she was 16. She's been rushed to the emergency room three times in the last six months because her lungs are destroyed. Don't smoke, y'all.
She's super intelligent, asks great questions, cool, show, talented, handsome man- she never loses key points about the show- her wide eyes and smiling and crossing her legs, just adds to the interview. They are both charming. I like that he is being interviewed by a mature, sexy woman,
I'm on yet another rewatch, and I'm no longer sure Don's a coward at all. Dude saw his father and his commanding officer killed right in front of him. He had a horrifically abusive childhood. It takes guts to start all over from nothing. I mean I still don't agree with a lot of his life choices, and maybe he could have benefitted from therapy, if only he'd have been open to it (and yeah, not a lot if people were back then.) Coward just feels like an inadequate word or concept for a troubled survivor. 🤷 Also, I know absolutely nothing about you, but I hope you're doing ok.
I'm an artist who works from home just love watching Madmen from 1st ep to end stops me from getting distracted and ever now and then I pick up something I miss.Love it :D
The impression I have is that, Jon has incorporated so much over all these years, the character Don Draper, that fixation has come true in his life. And I see how he struggles not to experience this reality. A character that consecrated him to the actor, but that already saturated all his emotion, exhausting it to the point of him wanting to be free of him. I wish he lived now, other people of success who with lightness, make them happy as an actor.
I don't think she is being flirtatious. She just seems to like him and be happy. He also seems comfortable. He is talking how I see most people talk when thinking and he often makes eye contact.
@@janetoss its a little too aggresive and He looked so uncomfortable and avoiding her face the whole time. Also she was there to do a job. So unprofessional
@@shabrinaz9877 Yeah all good, I just didn't notice she was over doing it at any point. She's allowing herself to be charmed by him, but I didn't notice him being uncomfortable over it. Maybe as a man I don't see it.
The man who has it all: looks, talent, intellect, humor, and he is even quite modest. If I were competitive and insecure I would find some bitchy comment, however I think he is just damned good.
He appears uncomfortable with the immediate appeal and flirtatious reaction by women. He had a tough upbringing, similarity to Draper has got to be difficult.
I love watching Don Drapers platonic relationships Peggy/Anna/Joan etc. even Sally they are the most interesting. Even though he is absolutely gorgeous, I would prefer to be his friend. Every other women is just a notch on the bed post! Jon Hamm is a cross between Clive Owen and Daniel Craig but way more attractive. The interviewer looks a little like Jennifer Westfeldt so she might think she has a chance. Haha feet flirting definitely!

I just binged the whole thing on Netflix. I’m glad I never watched it when it was on tv.
Losing hair with Pete Campbell was fun.
@@kd6836 Vincent Kartheiser didn't lose any hair though, just Pete

He's a damn good actor, but this usually gets overshadowed by a focus on the good looks.
yeah, he has such a classic look

I call it the Ryan Gosling syndrome. Over shadowed by the looks.
Timothy Dalton is a fantastic actor, drop dead gorgeous, sexy, funny and smart. John Hamm is the same. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
He reminds me a little of James Arness who played Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke
They all look so young in Season 1!
What a fantastic casting decision to put him in as the lead, never seen him before but the subject matter appealed to me and it is one of best series I have ever seen, he was excellent and the whole cast were, it is depressing that it ended.
Jon Hamm really is a fantastic actor whilst being incisive, honest, humorous, and realistic. Very interesting person.
Man called his own character a "coward." Real actor dedicated to creating his character.
Legend has it that the chair on the left is still soaked today.
Holy shit, that is the funniest way of saying what I was looking for here.
Lol
No. She said, "You hate him. You hate him."
@OhDannyBoyThePipes she has a moist cooch from talking to him.
@@rogerblakely7453 she was saying the audience hates Don Draper’s personality. She is clearly quite charmed by John Hamm
Humble, sweet, not self-conscious, not pompuos, down to earth and... impossibly good looking. I love him
and very witty !
Very. Very smart man
Jon really knows the other characters as well as his own
Jon was perfect for the Don Draper/Dick Whitman role. Very intelligent. Working class background. And he lost his mom at age 10, then lost his dad at age 20. Broken childhood.
His testosterone bursts right out of his face. :) Such a great actor and I miss watching him regularly.
Yes, he had to get surgery for that. it's painful, let me tell you.
SO TALENTED HUMBLE HONEST AND HANDSOMEST MAN ALIVE
She is "foot flirting" like crazy !
Rosco Parker Right?! Hilarious.

It’s uncomfortable to watch. I think she thinks she’s in Mad Men. That had to be very weird to be John Hamm for a while.
@@jazzysophie9943dog in heat 😂😂
I just binged the series - Jon Hamm was the best of it. So entertaining - John Slattery funny. Really enjoyed their work.
Maybe one day I'll watch Mad Men again. I loved it so much.
This interviewer is sliding off chair
My wife's comment as watching this video as a longtime Hamm's fan: that blondie is gagging for it.
My mom started smoking when she was 16. She's been rushed to the emergency room three times in the last six months because her lungs are destroyed. Don't smoke, y'all.
I thought they were truly smoking and they’ll be in the hospital when this show is over.
Damn, John Hamm really, intellectually, thought out DonnDrapers character. Great insight
Just when I thought I’d given up on men……..what a gorgeous guy.
He’s a very interesting man
Good interview with appropriate clips. Strange that the voices are pitched up in the clips, though.
Campbell Evans so I’m not crazy lol
Thank God i'm not the only one who noticed it.
I fucking dig it after i noticed that.. it has that classic 60s feel.. I want to watch the entire series my way 4th time around

Can't belive that even after five months online this interview has still less than 10.000 views.
It's a February 2012 interview that has been posted elsewhere previously.
I've only started watching Mad Men this year. (currently in season 6). Really love the character of Joan and Peggy.
Saaaaame
I connect to Don on so many levels, I guess I'm a coward as well...

That little skirt and tan job were done specially for Hamm. Every non-joke he made there was a chorus of giggling women in the audience. Good on him.
Trolltastic please! please! he’s a really good comedian 😉🧐.
wow she is flirting so hard its almost like a scene from the show lmao
She has a mean feet-flirting game
I love Jon.
Imagine being the agency that dumped Jon Hamm just before he landed Mad Men.
Decca dumped The Beatles, just imagine.
He's charming. I wouldn't be attracted to Don Draper -especially in the last seasons- but John Hamm is just down to earth and usually funny.
He is SO gorgeous. And insightful, and I would love to meet him one day
Please hold the line ;)
If you look like your picture Im sure Jon Hamm wouldnt have a problem with it?
Was this really 2 months ago? He looks really young in this one! He hasn't aged a day since 2007.
Jon Hamm says something like "we just shot season 5", so the interview has to be dated around 2011.
Then the title and description of this video are misleading. It's titled "Ten Years of Mad Men," which would be 2017.
Yeah, I agree with that, it's a bit misleading.
I think during the show he was struggling with alcoholism himself or something like that, think he is leaner and healthier now or something
I found it much easier to scroll the screen down to not watch what she trying to get going. Listening makes this much more productive.
just watched & finished the whole series this 2021... luv MADMEN! ...jon hamm iz da man..luv this actor!
Matt Weiner was prepared to walk away from Mad Men if Jon Hamm didn't get the role.

A really fun thing to do is to binge watch Mad Men and then watch Jon Hamm play Richard Wayne Gary Wayne on Kimmy Schmidt. So, so different. 😂

Mediocre interviewer. That would be such an interesting interview if done right.
What a great theater arts teacher he is! A natural teacher.
I know this is superficial but this guy is the hottest guy I have ever seen
When he smiles it's such an unfamiliar look for him, then I realized as Don, he really doesn't smile. He's attractive either way, though!
Amazing
That episode about Don Draper getting a job in a top ad agency after being a clothing salesman just seems unrealistic, even or especially for NYC.
