I love your enthusiasm with your plants.I buy too many but they make me happy..Now I don’t feel so guilty..I’ve subscribed 😊Also Home Depot tends to overwater their plants,I have the same Hoya but not variegated and very wet too!
I have a tiny Hoya compacta verigata and it's in a west window and has started growing new leaves. I thought it was never going to grow but if you put it in the brightest sunniest spot it will grow.
Unfortunately, I have first-hand experience with those darn mealy bugs 😫 My regular green Hoya compacta currently lives outside because I'm afraid to bring it back in lol. Thanks for the tip about the systemic granules. I've never actually used them before!
Oh my gosh I’m about to travel to Las Vegas just to go plant shopping. I’m in SoCal but those plants are so worth the trip! And yes yes your best bet is going to be to repot that hoya, here in SoCal the philo. billietiae have been popping up at The Home Depot for $14 and on sale for $9! Also the Gloriosum, Mamei, Alocasia dragon scale variegated, Alocasia Jacklyn and so many more! So you might get them soon!
What the heck! You want to drive to Las Vegas to go plant shopping and after you listed off the plants you have over there I'm like I'm going to California! Those are some amazing finds!
What a terrific find! Gorgeous! I bought a painted lady, a tortum and a Monstera 'Standeleyana Albo Variegated' at my local Home Depot a few days ago! I could hardly believe my eyes! They usually have the same old tired selection. Unfortunately, no Hindu rope… that’s a stunner and so is the price! Enjoy! She looks beautiful in that clay pot.
I found a variegated Hoya compacta at my local Lowe’s a few years back. I just wait until the pot feels light and the leaves look slightly wrinkled and then I put it in my shower and water thoroughly. She happy as can be
The root system actually looked really good! You are correct about hoyas wanting to be a little snug in their pots, that clay pot will be perfect for it. I have all my Hoyas planted in those clay pots and I wanter them thoughly when they start to wrinkle a little. Good find!
Do have dreams where you go plant shopping but you can’t get to any plants? I have those dreams periodically. I had one last night and I couldn’t find any plants and I wake up and I saw your video. I thought it was funny. I’m going to HD today to look for the var. Hindu Rope. But I’m not sure if I’ll buy it. I’m afraid it’ll get full with mealy bugs. You need to keep us updated! Hope you’re feeling better and I’m so happy you posted. Adios!
The compacta was such a bargain! In the uk a tiny little pot is about £20. Not sure on the alocasia but I saw a few folk suggested sinuata - it's definitely not a sinuata, the mature leaves on those go veeery grey toned and quite matte :) cute, whatever it is!
That alocasia looks like the one that used to be called mirror face. By the way, the reason those pots full of plants die is because there are too many plants in there. They can't get nutrients. I got a beautiful snow queen and had to divide it into 3. 😊
Which Albertsons and were there more of the Alocasia Quilted Dreams. 🙏 I also found a variegated Hoya compacta in Santa Fe at Home Depot. They had 5 baskets!!! I wanted them all but chose to take just one so others could experience the same joy I felt finding it. 🤗
Wow! I found it at the Albertsons on Juan tabo and candelaria. They had a bunch of them! Oh I know that feeling quite well lol when you find a good plant and you want to buy them all up!
I totally would've snagged that variegated compacta! Congratulations on such a great find
Your purchase was worth it. I love that Hoya, and will be looking forward to buying one.

Seeing your XMas T-shirt reminds me that my local WalMarts have their XMas decorations out already. It's insane.
They are a magnet for mealies! Put some systemic in there, bugs are SO hard to get rid of in those curly leaves.

Wow wow wow! Those are some good finds at home depot!

That is a GORGEOUS HOYA!!! I am out and about and will find a Home Depot on my way home!!! ❤🎉😊😅😇🤗
There were 5 baskets at the home Depot in Santa Fe on Saturday.
Oooooo what great plant finds…….😊😊😊
That variegated Hoya 😍😍 Now I have to gas up my car and drive all round my city to find one🫣🚗🪴
I hope you find one!! I've driven around town looking for plants too!
Wow what an amazing haul! I’m In SoCal and our big box store selections are 👎
That's too bad!!
Amazing and very nice plants.

Not 100 positive but it might be Alocasia Green Shield. I'm enjoying. Thank you.
I want a Hoya compacta so bad 😍 lucky find for you 🎉 How is it doing now?
So far so good! Some small parts have died off but nothing really noticeable. 🤞
Oh, and painted lady -where did you find it? Albertsons. Thanks.
Yesss Albertsons!
Best of luck with your new hoya. Do what @stephanie88 said about your hoya. I've watered mine 4 times since January so, yeah. 😊
Hey I saw someone else asked as well. Which Albertsons? I live in Vegas . There are hundreds of Albertsons out here. Were there more?
I actually live in New Mexico! I assume you're referring to Las Vegas, Nevada?

Hi. I need to go to Albertsons more often. I didn’t realize they had such beautiful plants.
They do have some food plants quite often!

Good to know! That's a good idea to divide the big plant. I never thought about doing that actually!
It looks like a dragon scale to me 🤷♀️
