Your game looked amazing. I thought i'd hate the enforcers when I first looked at Firefight, but after playing with and agajnst them I found they're one of my favourite factions. Their anti grav speed combined with their firepower is a fun combo. The Peacekeepers are beasts too (as are the Marauder Rippers!). You're painting skills and the amount of terrain bits you've got put me to shame though. Love your videos Peter. Bring on the Epic Warpath next year!
Great to see you run another Mantic battle report! I am really starting to believe that as far as rules, Mantic really makes the best games out of all the major companies in the space. Lots of fun indies out there of course, but out the larger players Mantic really knows how to produce a streamlined and fun set of rules.
I don't play Firefight but really enjoyed watching this because of how much fun you were both having. Hope you return to Deadzone sometime as that is such a fun game
I finally got my first game of OPR's Grimdark Future in the other day, and Mantic's Firefight clean blows it away! FF feels every bit as accessable, yet has a depth of systems interaction and quality of choices that has me super fired up. *Enthusiasm*!!
Kia ora Christian! You're absolutely right, in that OPR is designed from the ground up to make use of your existing Warhammer minis. The rules themselves however, lack the polish, depth and craft compared to FF (my initial, rather than comprehensive opinion). Having said that, porting your 40k miniatures to the equivalent FF faction certainly wouldn't be difficult, either. Lastly, if we're talking "accessibility" of a newer player with no mini collection at all, then Mantic is light-years ahead of the investment required to play OPR with GW minis... 😎
@@oneofmanyAndyRobertsons I appreciate the comprehensive answer! I'm fairly new to the hobby, but I generally prefer GW models over Mantic's. I like the Veer-myn, though. I'm definitely considering the Deadzone starter set, as the terrain looks great and versatile as well. Maybe I'll give Firefight a go down the line!
@@Christian_from_Copenhagenhey, you're welcome, man! I don't think there's much argument to be had comparing Mantic mini's quality to GW, but if you're painting your force in order to have an immersive gaming experience, then you really don't need competition-level painting on each individual model, just tidy consistency throughout. Personally, I don't have the patience to give gw miniatures the level of paint job their details deserve - especially when you're removing models by the fistful after some unlucky rolls! A nice, cheap Mantic starter box may be just the gentle introduction you need to start building your confidence and skills in this new hobby of yours... 👌🤘
I enjoyed this vid so much I keep checking back for more Firefight or Deadzone battle reports on EOG. Both such great rules systems and I love both your enthusiasm for the quick-paced rules from Mantic.
Peter, you're right, those DCS mats do look great. Thanks too for the Firefight play-through. First of these I have watched and I liked it so much, I downloaded the rules.
Just wanted to say “thank you” for showcasing my favorite game! As a marauders player I can tell you they are tough to beat. They definitely favor an aggressive playstyle. 🍻 cheers
You're welcome, Isaac - and as you can tell, I had an absolute *blast* with the Marauders this game; they felt surprisingly versatile compared to what we typically expect from an orc faction. Can't wait for another outing with them!
Great report, and thanks for the video. I think you can put bulky troops on the Roof. At least that is how we play. In min 4:50 (setup), it might be legal to put the weapons team on the Roof. If it wasn't during setup, you may need a spirit action to reach the very high ground on turn.
Bulky troops can't enter buildings, though I suppose they could fly up there. It's not very clear since you can climb up to a roof, but how would artillery do that? I think saying no makes better sense, but I'll try to get a clarification.
Very fun batrep to watch! LOVE you and your friend’s personalities. You make it that much more fun to watch. Thanks for keeping it clean and classy with your language. 😊
Amazing video, love the chats without getting distracted. Firefight is an amazing game and local gaming club have really gotten behind it. Mind if I share the video of o pathfinder gaming too?
Couple of things I noticed you were confused on. Units only block line of sight to other units if both the shooter, the target and the intervening unit are the same height. If the shooter or the target are of a greater height than the intervening unit then there is line of sight, although it will be obscured so the target will be in cover. Second was blast, you roll to hit once for each attack with the blast keyword, then roll or add up the total blasts for each hit and roll to wound. Enjoying the battrep so far though, it's great to see Firefight getting some content. There is a distinct lack of content for a lot of Mantic's games.
Oh we got the obscured versus clear LOS rule confused there. Oh well, better luck next time! Sometimes you just have to make a ruling and get on with the game. Only our second game so some errors were inevitable - thanks for setting me straight!
Well done. Always enjoyable. Best play throughs on the interweb.
Thanks - please tell people, it would be nice to get viewer numbers that matched that compliment! 😆

Thanks for that! Really looking forward to Epic Warpath as well.

Yep, these rules work really well. I'm looking forward to playing their epic scale game too.
Amen to that! And it's not just that their rules are "good", even, it's that they're also *accessable*!👌

@@tomfreeman8401 New DeadZone batrep? Definitely!

Is it as accessible in terms of using 40k models, though? It seems like the factions are more Mantic-specific compared to OPR.

Great video - Perfect timing as I am looking and Firefight and Deadzone at the moment :) - Keen to see how this game plays

Bring it!!!! Really gotta get into more Deadzone and Firefight.... while waiting for my Epic Warpath pledge manager to arrive... lol...
You and me both!
Love seeing Firefight reports out in the wild, it's in my opinion the best Sci-fi game out there and it's so fast and fluid to play!
Excited to jump into this game, asterians and forge fathers gonna be the main two

I have absolutely no problem with swearing at all - I do it a lot - but it's easy to edit out the occasional colourful exclamation! 😆
Well, that explains the "clean", but where does the "classy" part come from, Peter?? 🤣😈
It's innate Andy, it's innate...
I love to see the beer and snacks on the table. Just two guys being dudes playing games.
Well, I'm the only one of the two of us who's drinking - Andy, you are not a dude! 🤣
No, but after years of self-improvement I hope that I'm now at least dude-adjacent 😎😁
nice table!
Cheers!
Glad to see what this game is like!

Yaaay marauders!!
Mantics FF is a great game. They did good job.

FFs definitely, but I don't have Asterians.
Hell Yeah
Definitely get myself a 🏴☠️copy of these rules. 👍 Didn't watch the vid though
Well, *what* it then! 😜
