- This is from the Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1985. It's why every kid in America woke up that day. It was made of awesome and WIN.

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is filmed in New York at Macy's flagship store at Herald Square on 34th Street in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

Apparently, there was a revamped float the following year in 1986 to promote the live action movie. The 1986 float was still Filmation based though. X-Entertainment has some screen shots of it as well as video footage of it (the VCR tape is in pretty bad shape though). They had Squeeze squeezing various characters on it. All the information they have on the 1985 and 1986 floats can be found here:

This is truly truly amazing. The dancer playing Orko cracks me up. Thanks for putting this up. =)
He-man hit the scene in late 1981 and was at the height of popularity in 1985, so when She-ra came out that year, it helped to bolstor the collection big time until its demise in late 1988.
A pity the movie that got released around the same time wasn't like this.

If anyone out there has the technology to make it happen, than this is what I would like to see; this same video, but right after Pat says, "Let's watch the action", I want to hear the He-Man theme, followed by the She-Ra theme, and then conclude with the song, I Have The Power song from Secret of the Sword, in that order, and I want those themes to replace the entire Night on Bald Mountain music.
Awesome. Nothing beats He Man. Best cartoon of the 80's.

I had an issue of Masters of The Universe Magazine and they promoted this float appearance with an oil painting of the float with the characters on it. You can google it online and see it.

The best first time I see it and I love it!
In this parade that I remember when the Masters of the Universe and Princess of Power float performes. Where He-Man, She-Ra, Orco, and Skeletor. I also remember as a kid watching both He-Man, and the Masters of the Universe, and She-Ra, Princess of Power after school was airing on channel 5 WNEW-TV which is now WNYW-TV in New York.

Did they use the same float for two years? For 1985-1986?
I believe the float was the same for both years. There were some different characters in 1986 though like Ninjor, Mosquitor, Snout Sprout, and Sssqueeze as well as some different choreography and music.

I want someone to make a version of this video, and have the He-Man Theme for the He-Man part, and then the She-Ra Theme for the She-Ra part, and for the third part, include the I Have The Power song. Cause I think this parade float video would work much better that way.
Watching the parade hosts explain a kid's franchise that they don't understand or have never seen will ALWAYS be pure cringe.
It may be amazing that I missed this as a kid, but it apparently wasn't much anyway.
