    While putting the cases back together, you should always do it by tightening the fasteners from each end evenly and not just crank down on just one end. I'm sure this is why there was so much creaking when Joe was cranking down only on the left-hand side. Plus, the gap on the right side never closed fully as it should have.

    Great vids, even if they are redundant. I liked when you took us along to get the bike where you talked the guy down to $600. Don't be afraid to haggle. They need your money more than you need their bike. Now, there's one thing you do that kills me, and you did it again in this video. How can you set that nice, clean engine onto that clump of oily, gunky mud/dirt?? I know you hit it with the power washer after ripping it around, but that specific area is nearly impossible to get fully, and you had a great opportunity while the engine was out. Take less than 5 minutes. But, I've been told I'm a clean freak...

    I do enjoy your videos but as a person that repairs machines as well some things never make since to me.
    First the used $200 cylinder can’t be honed. Its plated. You should always sent cylinder out to be replated . They will come back like new for just shy of $300 and the bore with be better than a new OEM cylinder. Powerseal is one such company. There are only I believe 3 in country and all do excellent work
    Next if you’re tearing down a 96 with no history and have the crankshaft out, just have it rebuilt anyway. I fully understand the up and down pull on the rod test but in reality it should be disassembled and inspected to know for sure and the issue is that the rod may indeed feel ok but a fresh top end with maximum compression can easily show just how worn the crank bearings are.
    Also yes, invest in a parts cleaner tank and a bead blast cabinet.

    Reversing the drill does NOT produce a cross-hatch pattern. Just follows the same scratches you did in forward on the drill. just like threads on a bolt, left then right. Go up and down in forward only to get a 45deg cross-hatch.

    I'd say starting your own shop would be a worthwhile investment...still could video everything and wouldn't need a huge shop building.

      Having worked for myself for most of my life, I can say from experience that "opening a shop" is NOT always in the owner's best interest. He has a "shop" in his garage, and his overhead is minimal. Leasing or buying a shop is simply adding financial burden to a currently successful business venture. Building maintenance, taxes, state and local "licenses," multiple forms of insurance, etc, all take away from the profitability of the current venture. I worked out of my garage for 30 years and never had to be concerned with all of the other stuff. Many "shops" are an ego trip, which quickly come to reality when your checkbook is depleted.
      JMHO, YMMV

      @joevalencic5275 i agree with u, customers was my thinking. Running a shop brings legal obligations too. Consumer laws are pretty strong in us, which brings predatory customers.

      If you charge customers to do repairs, you have to do the work as the service manual states it should be done. That's not happening here.

    Joe mate put the bars more inline with the forks, near impossible to ride a bike with them too far back like that, previous owner must have struggled like that lol

  • @kindnuguz
    @kindnuguz Месяц назад +2

    Either Vin? or 2vintage doesn't fully know how to ride a bike or something is a bit off. Does sound like it needs some work on the jetting but these 2stokes should be Powerband to powerband shifting through all gears, I barely heard 1-2-3 PB and idk about 4th
    I'm sure all the gears work and some cobwebs need to be worked out.
    Again I don't know if 250 is to much for 2vintage or what.
    Yes, good looking bike and great job on fixing it; hope the seller pays you good but don't charge top dollar as again, I would sandblast every part or liquid blast and that engine would be sparkling. (the way I think is if you have it torn apart, might as well make it look new as possible)
    great looking bike again, seller if you read this, stiffen up the rear lol
