Great thanks odd numbers of doubles in shell look so much better it gives it nice arch 🙂
I love the way you explain things but most importantly how your enthusiasm and love of crocheting come thru every time.
Thank you so much, PJ I think the day I stop being enthusiastic is the day i give up and that wont be happening anytime soon. I am ful of ideas hahaha
Haven't made a call the midwife blanket in ages so was good to get a refresher, tried your border on it for 1st time & it really makes the blanket!
Thanks Alison..def going to make this!
It is beautiful.
Beautiful pattern. I just got done making this. Thank you so much. The directions were easy to follow. The stitches were easy as well.
You’re welcome 😊
Beautiful. Like you i was also born in the 60's i remember these most were knitted though. My mum also made and sold these to put bread on the table as the saying was back then for providing food.
Yes, it was all too true. Many of our mothers made gaments blankets and baby clothes back then. It was a cuthroat buisness I remeber my mum complaining someone saidher work was terrable then found out she was selling the same items. One lady from another town bought my mums work then sold it at a higher price in her own town saying it was her own work.
Finished. Looks beautiful. I made it for the end of my bed. Thank u so much
Wonderful!
🧶 you are one of the best teachers ever! Thank you for sharing your skills with us! I learn so much from watching you crochet.
I love your presentation! You make things clear and simple for everyone. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much!
I just finished my call the midwife blanket and it looks great. In future I will use a #3 yarn instead of the #4. I'm the lady who made the lumpy baby blanket. This came out much better. Thank you!
I made a queen size bed blanket, and now I am learning the border. Thank you for your brilliant tutorial Alison! My sister has also made a few blankets from your tutorials.
You are so welcome! both you and your sister thank you for watching my channel. There is a pink stripe one i recently put up that makes a wonderful bed runner and will be light and airy if you use a big big hook.
Thank you for this beautiful border! I've been using a different border on my many midwife blankets for years but I think I'm loving this one more!
It is so sweet. I have 3 new babies due from my family at the end of the year. I definitely will be doing at least one. Thank you.
Wonderful! congrats for the new arrivals Xxx
Oh Thank you! I always wanted to do this pattern.
Glad I could help!
I love your tutorials so much. Thank you so much.
Glad you like them!
I’ve just finished this blanket using the same yarn and it’s turned out beautifully. Once again a fabulous and easy to follow tutorial. Thankyou Alison
well done i have a heart one next
Just finished a white blanket ... just loved this pattern and your video ... thankyou!
You’re welcome 😊
My squares kept coming out as long rectangles. So I added an additional row of 15 dc (US) at the bottom and again at the top of each box. The boxes are more like squares, and I was pretty sure you wouldn’t mind my modifying your gorgeous pattern. This is just lovely, and works up so quickly. Thank you for providing so many gorgeous gift ideas.
Fabulous border 😊👍💐
Thanks madam to show about the border
Thank you Alison, lovely border.
You’re welcome 😊

You are so welcome! and thank you so much xx
Great video
Thanks for the visit
Hi Alison, just to let you know I completed my blanket !!!! I did the border slightly different to yours in the end....but it turned out well. I'm delighted with it and so were the recipients Thanks for the tutorial, it was so easy to follow. I'm getting brave and going to have a try at the Chevron blanket Thanks again :0) Loretta
Wonderful! well done Xx great you completed it,
Hi, have completed the blanket from your super video, thank you! The border video has thrown me a little as you say on the 2nd row of trebles , to do just 2 trebles in one stitch in the corner and 1 trebles in the rest. But at the end you say you've done 2 trebles in 2 of the corner stitches to make 8.? I don't want to unravel the row so I'm carrying on, hoping it will still be ok! Thanks again. x
This is so beautiful I love watching your videos 🥰
Thank you so much 🤗
Thank you
You're welcome
I agree. You explain so well and simple. This blanket is beautiful. Do you have videos for baby hats ?
Yes I have a few if you look through my older videos
Are you able to do a video on Radiating Diamonds Blanket it’s similar to this one but I can’t find a video tutorial and can’t read patterns
I will have a look and see
The written pattern is on cool creativity.com I’ve made your midwife blanket a few times and have had great success. Your videos are so easy to follow. Thank you so much
I am thrilled to have found this channel. I love listening to your voice/accent. I have tried this blanket (sample) and another one already. Only thing is, my border is turning out "ruffly", it doesn't lay nice and flat like yours. Any suggestions?
ruffles mean too many stitches for your border or too slack with your crochet try a smaller hook go down 1 full size for the border and see if that helps. There is nothing wrong in having to adjust it to suit your way of crochet.
I just love your blanket and your accent lol can you tell me what size hook you used with paintbox aran xxx
a UK 6mm
Hi Alison, I just about completing the blanket which I am very happy with (great tutorial ) I have just done the first border and on the 2nd round I'm a little confused. You advise to put 2 TC nto middle of 6 TC on corner and then a single TC into each stitch Then at the end you advise that you have 8 stitches to form your corner ie two sets of TC and singles I am apprehensive to continue with V stitch row until I am clear about this ? Can you advise Loretta
on the 1st round i put 6 treble crochets in each corner (the very 1st corner i did chain 3 and 3 trebles but when i worked all the way around i added another 2 to make it 6) on the 2nd round i did chain 3 ( makes 1 treble) i did 1 more treble into the same stitch then di 1 treble into every stitch around, when i got to the corner (the corner has 6 trebles) i did 1 treble into 3 stitches then added 2 in the chain space then did 1 treble into the next 3 stitches that made 8 in the corner for the 2nd round then continued with 1 in each stitch to the next corner. so in short after the 1st round you have 6 in the corner after the 2nd round you will have 8 in the corners
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel Thanks for your reply I'll try this Thanks again
I would love to make the blanket. Do you have a tutorial to follow?
Hi Alison. Love, Love, Love your channel. Do you know where I might find a written pattern for the "Flower Box" or "Call The Midwife" Blanket? TA
Google it, Ann it's been around a long time there are many sellers online for this pattern
So is it double crochet or treble crochet for border. Looks like you doing double but saying treble!!
In the UK it's a treble and in USA the stitch is called a double.
Hi there
Always wanted to do this pattern I can't believe i did it so beautiful easy the way you've explained it your so lovely you've made it fun too. Are you on Instagram or fb please
Thankyou so much for sharing 💓
You’re welcome 😊 and well done
Thank you for sharing this border pattern. However, I got to the end of round 2 of the treble stitches. You said to add 2 Tr in each corner and to carry on all the way round the blanket. When I finished it, you summarised by saying you added 2 Tr in 2 of the corner st. My blanket is 8 blocks across by 13 of the same pattern, so it took a good 45 mins to complete each round and now that there is conflicting information, I'm not sure my V stitches are going to work out right as there will be a st missing in each corner.
i put 2 trebles in the corner chain 1 and 2 more trebles.
How many balls of yarn do you use please.
I'm attempting this boarder, can I just check the first corner (starting corner) do you chain 3 and then 2 treble then at the end put additional 3 in to make yhe 6 stitches up?
yes
👏👏👏🍀🌹
Thank you
I think there is a mistake in 2nd row of trebles. You said put 2 trebles in 1 treble in the corner but when you hot to end you said you had put 2 trebled in 2 stitches
2 trebles in 1 stitch then 2 into the next stitch to get around the corner, I did say I had to put more in the 2nd round at the corners. I do say you may have to slightly adjust it to get around your corner. I had to put 2 into 4 stitches around as my tension is slack. Doing corners can be tricky if you have a tight tension the corner squishes in so you may have to adjust it by adding stitches to keep it flat and round, neat.
Buenos dias. Quiero hacerla, pero como lo veo en Español.? Muchísimas gracias. Bendiciones.
I love this pattern and blanket. I don’t know why I can’t post the one I made so you can see it.
you can't post pic on RUclips you can join my group on Facebook called Craftytwunts art and crafts
Has anyone used dk yarn to make the blanket as my border looks like it's got gaps in it ?
I have it might be your tension try for the border one half size smaller hook that might sort the problem. or you could thread some thin ribbon through the stitches that would be lovely.
Please please may I ask how many chains do you put up for a standard pram blanket please help xx
There are three basic sizes for crochet blankets: afghan, lap blanket, and baby blanket. Traditionally, full-size, crochet afghan patterns measures about 50″ by 65″. The lap blanket is about 35″ by 40″. And the perennial favorite, the baby blanket, measures about 25″ by 30″. I don't do chain counts I chain to the length I need using a tape measure. If I am doing a pattern I leave a long tail at the beginning of my chain then I can use it to add stitches once i begin a pattern if i don't have enough.
Alison, I can’t see a join button, have you enabled it? X
Where her name is it says subscribe next to it in blue it says join click on that and youtube takes you through the quick prossess or do what i did and ask her for her paypal and donate that way as youtube take half of the subscription fee for running it.

Hi Alison
Any baby matinee patterns plz???💖
no sorry i have never given them a try i should though
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel Im sure you could?as you're a talented lassie! X
This was a great tutorial until you came to the V stitch round. The instruction for rounding the corners was very confusing for me. The entire corner consisted of 8 trebles..six single trebles and two stitches in the middle with two trebles, totaling eight stitches, correct? I would like more of an explanation as to how the V stitches fit into those 8 stitches, including the double trebles. Also, a V stitch multiple would be very helpful in making sure the shell round comes out even on all the corners. Otherwise, great work. I would like to see more borders for this blanket. I'm definitely going to get to work on one soon. Thanks very much!
At the corners you are doing 4 V stitches skip 1 stitch and do a V stitch until you get around the corner I took 4 V stitches to get around the corner
How do you do the corners thanks .
i explain in the video
Too bad we can't send pictures of our work that we do from your videos
you can on my facebook group called Craftytwunts art and crafts. Or on instagram follow me then message me @ #alisonrussellscraftchannel
The border is beautiful! However, your instructions are very hard to follow. Do you have a written pattern just for the border. The transcript does not help. Than you.
How many stitches altogether are in the corner the second time around?
id have to watch the video again its been a while since i made one.
