One of the great experiences of life was seeing Augustines & FR together. I never realized that Billy and Scott's friendship predated touring together. Huge respect and love for them and their incredible bands.
He's as nice as he seems. My brother in law hosted a show of his road shows series. Every word is true too. He sings from his experience. You gave a very high compliment Be well! ❤️
Ive been a fan since Pela, this man has been through a lot, 2 bands dissolving under him, his brothers death. and on he still goes. a tribute to his talent and tenacious will. Kudos McCarthy
Best gig I have ever been to was seeing the Augustine's play above a pub in London. Best live band I have ever witnessed. The energy was unbelievable. I hope they reunite one day 😢
Mr. McCarthy, thank you for such a complete and supportive take on this issue, and thank you for such powerful music. The spectre of death has been part of Rock since the beginning but the conversation still needs to be amplified. Thank you.
I have bipolar and depression. I love to listen to Williams music his songs has really helped me when ive felt sad or depressed.ive thought of suicide before but pulled myself together and pushed through..
@@seanmichaelbeasley4694 thanks I try to keep from getting depressed during this quarantine..staying in all the time takes a toll after a while..be safe
Magical. We had the immense privilege to see the movie RISE yesterday night in London and William treated us with an acoustic performance. Mind blowing!
On the last song, till the first words at 40:55 the voice reminds me The Blaze (and also a bit IZ' Kamakawiwo'ole (and Marley ("This train"))) and the rythmic after confirmes it. Album: "Territory" title: "virile"
I had written this before getting to the end. This is such a beautiful tribute to Scott. I wasn’t expecting to hear about him at all in this video but it’s so good to see how many people he had affected in a positive way.
He did a show here in San Diego on his tour that seemed like also, a journey inside. Beautiful Guy all around. Tell him Jess and Ryan say hi. Hell know
To me, this video is not about the music. It's about the message. This interview has been the best one I have seen on KEXP so far, by far. Normally I get bored and wish they'd shut up and get back to music, but William speaks truth. We need to take mental illness more seriously. Too many people don't, though. As my mother told me about when I used to threaten suicide as a teen, her and my father thought I was just acting out, but I wasn't. I truly wanted to kill myself. What would they have done if I did? And that's the problem. There are many, many other parents like that out there, who don't take their children's mental illnesses seriously. If their kid gets a cavity, they take them to the dentist. Do they need glasses? Then off to the eye doctor. How about if they have a cold? Then time to buy some cold medicine. But if their kid is clinically depressed? Then they just need to "snap out of it." They need to "cheer up." They need to stop "acting out." And that's bullshit. That's fucking bullshit. Take that stuff seriously! If I weren't such a wuss, I'd be dead. Who here cares, right? No one knows me. But that's fine. I'm not looking for attention. I just want people to stop acting as if mental illnesses go away. They don't. They're just as serious as a broken leg or a cavity. The difference is the leg heals up and the cavity can be filled. The mental illness goes nowhere. It can be helped by meds, such as Lexapro, along with good therapy, but it's still there and life is still a constant battle. Some days are good, some are bad, but the bad days can be absolutely intolerable. Life can be hell. I hope one day I can feel better, but I know I never will.
I've always loved everything that the Augustines and Billy did. Apparently he released a solo CD but I've never been able to find it. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to buy a copy. UK or USA. I'd be very grateful for any info that that you can provide. Thanks in advance.

U can find it on spotify or google play music. Try amazon for a physical copy or google the album William McCarthy "Shelter"
It's also now on Bandcamp. Came out yesterday on that platform. Flac and 320kbps
Красава! Отлично поёт! Душевно!
Damn. I don't need to cry right now.
You're gorgeous. Blessings.
Does anyone know the show that they are talking about later that evening where Billy was going to cover more of Frightened Rabbit's songs?
really big man or small guitar? or both? dont matter because the music is brilliant TuT
Little bit of both. Billy's a stocky dude and that looks like a baby Taylor

I was gifted with guitar... But no voice, lol!!
