I can't believe ur moving up here. I used to live in Stone mountain ga. I wish I never moved from there. Overall Ohio isn't bad, but not where I want to be.
Before the bug hit it was great to hit the park & ride and catch a bus downtown in the AM on the weekend then tour the art museum, take lunch in an arcade bar, walk to the convention center to see the sights and grab dinner at a local place, and wrap up the evening with live music before taking the late bus back to the car. I hope it all returns soon...
They are even friendlier in ky, Tenn . well at least the homespun are nice. Too many northeast and North transplants in the big cities now ie...knoxville, Louisville , Nashville . but yes the eastern states ie...NY, Virginia Maryland and cities like Philly and NY NY , and North have a certain air to its people of hostility , rudeness and inferiority complexes.
Dublin really is the best possible 4th of July experience anywhere. I love my home state. I moved all over Columbus as a kid, from Grove City, Riverbend, Gahanna, West Side and finally Dublin. There no better place to raise kids than NW Columbus suburbs
Not cracking on your video but you also need to let people know what Columbus is like if you travel 5 to 10 minutes in any direction of down town. Drugs/violence/theft/prostitution is all at a record high in Columbus right now. I’ve lived on the west side of Columbus less than 10 min from downtown and it’s terrible. Not saying Columbus is a crap hole just do your research if you plan on moving here so you and your family end up in a better neighborhood. The Columbus Zoo in the summer is a really great place to visit. I definitely agree with you about red white and boom and the food festivals. 👍
I was a resident of Columbus and everything you’re saying is super accurate. The worst Area of Columbus is Franklinton. But not to scare away future residents it’s fairly cheap here and jobs are also booming, especially during spring time. The best place's to live here is UA, Gahanna, Bexley, Shawnee Hills area, Hillard, galloway, Dublin-Jerome, Westerville, New Albany, Grove city, Pickerington and Obetz. That’s just to name a few.
@@ghost19xx13 some areas are cheaper than others and nicer than others like you mentioned. There’s currently houses in Franklinton aka “The Bottoms” going for 300k. The area is still the same though. I pass through there almost everyday to take my boy to boxing class. The other areas you mentioned outside of Columbus are nice if you can afford 2k a month or more in some areas for rent. It’s just a sad situation to see all the activities that go on around here.
I'm a transplant from dayton. actually have been in columbus for about 6 years almost but for some reason I never took the time to actually get acquainted with the city, just learned through trial and error. I fell in love with this city when I first moved here and have moved back here 3 times..lol..
My wife and I have been considering moving to Columbus. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, and I LOVE IT HERE. Make no mistake, it's beautiful here. But, its become so expensive to live here, all the Californians are driving us out of town, and Ohio is much more affordable. Makes me sad, but if its nice, I can't complain. It'll just be sad to not see mountains outside my window.
I have worked with 5 clients that have moved from the PAC NW and they all have said the same thing about the cost of living, etc. I love going out to visit friends, ski and hike so I can only imagine how hard it would be to leave. If you decide to move and need help buying a house shoot me a call/text 614.935.0545!
I'm relocating to Columbus at the end of Jan for a job. It puts me in the mind of Richmond, VA (where I currently live). I'm excited to embark on a new adventure though. I've settled on living in Easton, because I want to be close to my job. Thanks for all of your tips!
I currently have an internship and could be relocating to Columbus in about 6 months for a job after graduation. In the video, you said to reach out if you’re thinking about moving to Columbus so here’s my bat signal🦇
Me and my partner have thought of moving to Columbus Ohio for a while now but she's worried if there is enough sunny Days. Also she's a Speech Language Pathologist so she also wonders how the medical field is in Columbus
I am thinking of moving to Columbus possibly this summer or after the summer. I have my bachelors in criminal justice and some Columbus police officers told a family member of mine they are looking for over 400 new officers, and especially women. right now i'm in the country of ohio and lets just say I am not a country girl lmao!
Great question. COTA, Central Ohio Transit Authority is going to have the best source of information (www.cota.com/trip-planner/?viewbus=busstop#tab-view-bus-stop). AFAIK, the bus system is average. Unfortunately there is no light rail system, nor any plans.
Meh, the bus system is decent, but could be much better. Keep in mind although Columbus is a decent sized city transportation is not really a problem. There is a highway that circles the entire city with 2 MAJOR interstate highways running through that, kind of like a cross. Having a car is needed to get everywhere, but you can bus it pretty much all over but I would HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND THAT. It would be much more convenient to have your own vehicle to get where you need to go faster and avoid waiting
I have lived here since 2008! I was able to keep up with affordable rent of $400/Month on 35 years of low wages forced on us by greedy employers! It is now 2023! I cannot afford to be independent anymore since base low cost housing is now over $1,300/Month yet wages have not gone up. You either are lucky to have family take you in, living in your car (severe loneliness and misery), or homeless! Housing wait lists are over 8 years+ long! Shelters full of people with shattered will power! External beauty of a city is NOT a realistic perspective of how dire and cost ridden our city is! Crime is up everywhere! Education is 12 years behind to keep up with technological changes most people cannot afford.
Been considering moving there because Phoenix rent keeps skyrocketing and I've lived in the southwest my whole life. I've never been to the eastern half of the country and want to be around lots of trees and actual seasons. Plus, my company's headquarters are there so I'd keep the exact same job.
Are black people welcome? This video has me ready to commit! Me and my husband are thinking of moving and starting our family in a state neither of us have ever been/lived and Columbus Ohio sounds like a YES🥰 sadly I have to make sure me and my family will be comfortable and welcome.
Just be warned, its very expensive to live in Columbus. I live just south of Columbus and the difference in cost is amazing. I rent my 3 bedroom house for 550 a month. The same house in Columbus would rent for well over a thousand month. I wouldrecomend getting on the outskirts of Columbus. Its much cheaper.
Ya, the only affordability is to rent an apt. in the ghetto with no credit check. Massive waiting lists for any affordable apt elsewhere & u must have stellar credit or they will go tell u to go pay off what u owe & call them. True story!
Overall crime is not bad here. I'm from IL and I've been living here for the last almost 14 years now. There are pockets like in every city where you'd want to avoid, but overall it's not bad at all. Most of the problems stem from car "break ins". Kids mostly finding unlocked cars and rummaging through them for who knows what. My wife left her car door unlocked multiple nights with money in the car, and the money was never taken. There are your murders but they are few and far between, at least that's been my experience when reading the local news. The thing to really watch out for is trafficking of women and kids.
@@doktaGr4mpi0 if you don't do drugs or pick up hookers you will never run into trouble..all so our police force is top notch and rent is cheap in a lot of area's..compared to other Capitol towns.
