Thanks for being here today, guys! I know this is a really weird video, but we laughed while making it because of how tiny the things we "hate" actually are. We're so grateful to be in our home and we can't wait to show you the 10 things we love about our house after living in it for nearly a year. Have an awesome day today. 🙌🏻❤
Wow!! I can't believe it's almost been a year! Are you starting to plan the next one?..... 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Kidding of course! I love you both!! Thanks for making me laugh.
The island counter not matching in shade would drive me crazy too. We are in the midst of designing our forever home so seeing the little things you don’t necessarily think about when planning was helpful.
Me too! Especially when putting out big $$ for it! It's not for the seller to decide if "it's fine"! It's an obvious difference, and it should be replaced!
I feel like Jared and Ellie are always trying to be so positive so being able to say things they HATE just really got them in a fun and silly mood and I love it. Everyone has to be negative and vent sometimes
I’m sorry about your counters. We own a granite and quartz fabrication company. There are different lots for quartz and they should have known better. We would never get away with this or even try to. It’s such a big expense and you should be happy with them and love them! You do have a beautiful home! Love your family 💕
I’m not much of a commenter but I GET THIS! There is no trial and error when building a house and sometimes something sounds perfect in your head and the functionally and/or esthetically it just doesn’t work. All of our homes have these little quirks… thanks for sharing!
That island counter, would drive me nuts! I would demand that to be fixed or I would go crazy. Especially the amount that you have paid for a new home........
I understand this so much. When we built our second house we designed most of it with my brother. Once we moved in I had a list a mile long of things I would have changed. But it never diminished how grateful we were for our home. We lived there for 16 years. We still miss it.
You guys this video is the exact type people need to watch before building a house!! And it's hilarious! My husband and I toured a lot of local homes and my question(s) to them was "if you could do anything over, what would it be?" The number 1 thing was make it bigger---house and garage. All the things you mentioned are a lot of things most people may not think about until after or at all. Way to go! And I love the little part in the middle about laughing with each other. My husband and I just celebrated our 13th too and I love it when it feels like even the little things are date. I like laughing about "stupid" stuff with him too.
Ellie regarding the shower glass... We had the same type of glass doors that were so difficult to maintain and you cannot even bathe your kids comfortably due to only one side opening. Once my grown Daughter was 6 mos Pregnant at the time was showering , shut the door while in the shower and one of the glass doors shattered in a zillion pieces. Thank God her only injury she sustained was got little cuts all over her feet . It was terrifying though. We obviously removed the remaining glass door and have used a shower curtain ever since. Will never feel comfortable having those sliding glass doors again. Love you guys
Wish I had my own house to not complain about. We have rented our whole life and have never had our own home. I’m sure if we had our own home we could cherish every single inch of it. I’m currently pregnant and our house is way too small for us… but we still have to make due. I hope you can get your luxurious shower figured out.
I LOVE that you guys made this video. I bet so many people in your situation would be nervous in case of hateful comments about being ungrateful, but let's be honest, nobody loves everything about their home even if they build it from scratch! I personally found this video hilarious.
I'm shocked that they wouldn't switch out the countertop. Having recently purchased similar quartz for my kitchen, it would make me so mad if the fabricator had tried to get away with something like that.
It’s really okay to “hate” things about your house. Especially when there’s things you truly didn’t want. Like mix matched countertops. Fun video though🤗
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. It’s okay to love AND hate something. But honestly this helps me know what to look for and things I wouldn’t even have thought about.
Thanks for the laughs. This was a fun video and hearing Ellie laugh at Jared’s shower complaints was the best! 😂 She’s had a hard time lately so it was good to hear her laugh.
Loved your video. I definitely would call the contractor and get the counter top redone. It’s so noticeable, and the contractor is only saying it’s not noticeable to him. But who is the boss here, you are. The kitchen is the heart of the home, and if you’re not happy now the anger will only get worse.
I get that nobody loves everything about what they have and that nobody is grateful all the time, and I’m having a hard time hearing you complain about all the great things you have. But, that’s a me problem, so you keep doing what you want to do.
Loved this video. Love watching the two of you laugh together! I love your house but I do understand about the "hate". The counter top stains would be such a pet peeve for me 🤣
I see here you got the message I that I did about being a winner. I responded it the message and they wanted my credit card and wanted me to pay $80 it ship a guitar. I thought I'd let you know.
You guys are one of the best few couples who have not changed over the years. You are still the same humble, kind, hilarious people you were when you lived in your tiny place and ended your videos with handstands! Thank you for not getting sucked up into influencing culture like so many others!
Just hearing you guys laugh is just something out of this world. To see you happy! Tugs at the heart strings. Ps. I get it. You don't want to sound ungrateful because, yeah, we're fortunate but yeah, just those urks though.
I totally get the countertops. I have quarts and have a seam but we keep our drying rack over top so you can’t see much of it. The difference of yours would drive me nuts!
I think, no…. I KNOW the countertop would have to change. That would drive me so crazy. I think you should try to sell the 2 pieces and replace just that island top with a dark piece. I think it would look stunning.
I understand this completely . We have had our new build 2 years. And yes I am extremely grateful for our home, but we saved to build. And we have problems that we were told its fine.....no it's not. Your paying for it so makesure you say something. I totally understand guys.
I just love your house. The finishes are divine. The counters would drive me crazy. I would have made them rip them out and fix it. The same thing happened to Natalie from @Vintageporch. In the end the company reimburse her.
Honestly tho I really don't see anything wrong with being unhappy about things in your new home. I think no matter how many times you build a home it will always be a learning process and there will always be things we wish were different. Bottom line your home is beautiful. 🥰
I love this honestly!!!!!! We built a home (very thankful to have been able to and so thankful for our home) but sometimes you feel like you have to love everything because you built it and sometimes things just don’t turn out how you expected and you don’t realize until you are living in it everyday!!!
I have built seven custom homes and there’s always been something that I wished I had done differently. One more house in my plans 😊. You have a beautiful home!
Now you’re gonna have to do a “100 things we LOVE about our new home” just to make up for the 10 things you hate 🤣😂🤣😂 Obviously I’m kidding! We all know you both love the house!
That island would drive me insane and I would have lost my mind. They definitely would have corrected it and should have never installed it with that big of a difference.
You should definitely make the countertop company fix your island. We got quartz countertops and have one seam that they planned out to have them match almost exactly and you cannot even see the seal unless you look up very closely. I don’t think how they did your island is correct and should be fixed
I found this ridiculously funny, but then I thought about my house which is a rental and I do have things I dont like. I definitely get the kitchen top and the glass shower panel. It was really great to see Ellie looking so much better and both of you laughing. xx
Your house is so beautiful- however we all make mistakes when we build a house and we can learn from it moving forward into the future! Keep in mind you can put that wall back upstairs in the Playroom area to create another bedroom for Guest.
We are doing a major remodel and we are designing the kitchen very similar. Got the same appliances and trying to duplicate your cabinets and hardware. This was a great video.
Our son and daughter-in-law felt the same way so contacted the countertop company. They came in and replaced the countertops and they only had to pay 1k installation fee plus they left them the old counters and they are using them in an Airbnb they own
This was such a great video, you had me in fits of laughter, and like you said too marry your best friend goes a long way in having a long happy marriage 😂❤
This video is awesome. Living in our first home, I can relate to finding things after living in it that we hate and would do differently. It's cool to see even after multiple homes, there are still things that don't turn out as you hoped. Also interesting to watch what you don't like. No one is perfect and neither are our homes 🤣
😂😂😂 .. after 3 years of my partner and I living in a old crapy apartment we finally got a home to live in. It’s absolutely amazing, we love and appreciate it soo much, but there are always those things that drive you insane… for me it’s my laundry room, the washer and dryer doors stop each other from opening so I have to take wet clothes out of the washer put them into the laundry hamper then into the dryer 😂 I hate it so much but I love my home and I am so thankful I don’t have to use a communal laundry room 😂😅
I've worked for a stone countertop company for over 4.5 years and I can tell you that we've done MASSIVE islands that have seams going right down the middle. We've done it in granite, quartz, quartzite & marble and never have we ever seen such a discoloration in materials from one side of the seam to the other. Maybe a slight vein variation but that left side looks so much darker then the right. Doing what I do every day this would be completely unexceptable. The fabricator needs to call the manufactor and see if they delivered 2 different lots of that material and it for sure needs to be replaced. I'm certain you paid quite a lot for those countertops and something should be done about it. And with the spots you have also there has to be some defect in that material if it was like that when installed. I could see if this was a natural stone but from the looks of it I am sure it is a man made stone, so those spots are unexcetpable. Not a hater by any means I absolutley love stone countertops and I hate to see someone accept something as fact because a fabricator doesn't want to own up to a mistake or have the supplier make it right. Love your home!!
I fully understand this! My husband and I just moved in to our new home a month or so ago. We had it custom built, so you’d think it would be perfect for us. Noooope.
Thanks for being here today, guys! I know this is a really weird video, but we laughed while making it because of how tiny the things we "hate" actually are. We're so grateful to be in our home and we can't wait to show you the 10 things we love about our house after living in it for nearly a year. Have an awesome day today. 🙌🏻❤
thanks! You guys too! :D
Wow!! I can't believe it's almost been a year! Are you starting to plan the next one?.....
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Kidding of course! I love you both!! Thanks for making me laugh.
@@debcarpenter8519 hahaha. We’re already planning our 5th house. Jkjkjkjkjk
Can you please share a vlog of your day? I miss “catching up” with you guys 😊
TIME TO MOVE BACK TO LOGAN RIGHT NEXT TO BONNIES NEW HOUSE!!!!!
I think the worst is the kitchen island. They should have changed that out. Ellie , you look so good and rested today😊❤
Jared feeling ashamed for hating his bedroom was funny. That counter top would drive me crazy
I’m sorry about your counters. We own a granite and quartz fabrication company. There are different lots for quartz and they should have known better. We would never get away with this or even try to. It’s such a big expense and you should be happy with them and love them! You do have a beautiful home! Love your family 💕
Would it help if they did a leathered look? I would be disappointed with that island slab paying that much as well
I’m not much of a commenter but I GET THIS! There is no trial and error when building a house and sometimes something sounds perfect in your head and the functionally and/or esthetically it just doesn’t work. All of our homes have these little quirks… thanks for sharing!
I love the honesty!! Nothing came across ungrateful. We are house hunting and this is so so helpful!
The laughing in the shower coming from Ellie reminds me so much of Bonnie’s laughter 🫶🏼
You should still contact the installers of the countertops in the kitchen and have them come out so you can show them so they can switch it out
Be thankful for all you have.☺
Yeah those counter tops would drive me nuts! These are solid hates/ minor inconveniences but the house is still absolutely stunning!
That island counter, would drive me nuts! I would demand that to be fixed or I would go crazy. Especially the amount that you have paid for a new home........
You both are very fortunate to have that home. What I would do to have a house.
Right
You can still have dislikes. It actually really helps me think about things when fixing things
The bathroom where you took out the glass door I love that tile in that shower ❤
I understand this so much. When we built our second house we designed most of it with my brother. Once we moved in I had a list a mile long of things I would have changed. But it never diminished how grateful we were for our home. We lived there for 16 years. We still miss it.

I’m currently pregnant and our house is way too small for us… but we still have to make due.
I hope you can get your luxurious shower figured out.
@CaveraDeMonte agree. Makes me so sick
Ellie for hating the counter tops I would too. Cleaning that would drive me crazy. I love ur house it’s beautiful.
I love you guys so much!! Such a fun, lighthearted video and seeing you laugh together warms my soul. ❤️
I love this 😂 Our family has been in our dream home almost 4 years. So happy to hear we aren’t alone in regards to not being 100% satisfied 😅
Thank you for making this video. Sometimes we can learn things from other’s experiences and can avoid things 😊
I wish I had a home. Just a sturdy home with some yard for my dogs. I’m 53 years old worked for 23 years and have never have had my own home.
You guys 😭😭 this video is like the pilot to a sitcom. THIS WAS HILARIOUS
I get that nobody loves everything about what they have and that nobody is grateful all the time, and I’m having a hard time hearing you complain about all the great things you have. But, that’s a me problem, so you keep doing what you want to do.

BTW: The Happiest of Anniversaries to both of you 💜. It’s been my pleasure to watch you and your family enjoy life. Thank you for opening up y
Your other house was so much better. I will always love your first house❤
I looovvve how brutally honest this was! Thanks for sharing!!!
When you're poor watching this 🥺👀
This was so fun lol! I was cracking up right a long with you. That countertop would drive me insane for sure.
Rich people problems
Jealous much?
You guys are one of the best few couples who have not changed over the years. You are still the same humble, kind, hilarious people you were when you lived in your tiny place and ended your videos with handstands! Thank you for not getting sucked up into influencing culture like so many others!
Yes! I was just thinking the same thing
sorry I disagree
LOVE watching you two laugh and interact together💛 This was so fun!
This was a cute video! So true I think we all have something we love/hate about our house even though we are thankful ❤️
Ellie, I wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about those countertops!
Your builders should have fixed the counters!
We’re about to start building and I’m SO thankful for this video!!
You guys are so cute! Hope you’re doing well, Ellie.
Hope everything is going well with your sweet family! I adore watching your vlogs, it's such a comfort to me!
This was such a fun video to watch 😀
Also very informative for my own house hunting and house planning process 😇
So can’t relate. Live in the attitude of gratitude. You are blessed. ❤
Ellie you have a contagious laugh. Jarod and Ellie keep the videos coming I truly enjoy watching them
Just hearing you guys laugh is just something out of this world. To see you happy! Tugs at the heart strings. Ps. I get it. You don't want to sound ungrateful because, yeah, we're fortunate but yeah, just those urks though.

You have the biggest bedroom I’ve ever seen and I can’t believe you think it’s not big enough 😂
I understand this completely . We have had our new build 2 years. And yes I am extremely grateful for our home, but we saved to build. And we have problems that we were told its fine.....no it's not. Your paying for it so makesure you say something. I totally understand guys.

You 2 are so cute!!! It's hard to believe you have been there for a year!!! I hope you have an Amazing Anniversary!!! God Bless!!!
I found your complaints helpful. Now I know some issues to look out for when I’m replacing different parts of the house.
Cute video! The automated lighting (etc.) system would make me crazy!!! I am definitely old school in that regard.
I love this honestly!!!!!! We built a home (very thankful to have been able to and so thankful for our home) but sometimes you feel like you have to love everything because you built it and sometimes things just don’t turn out how you expected and you don’t realize until you are living in it everyday!!!
The countertop would drive me MAD!
You guys are totally warrented to feel this way! No house is perfect.
I have built seven custom homes and there’s always been something that I wished I had done differently. One more house in my plans 😊. You have a beautiful home!
Now you’re gonna have to do a “100 things we LOVE about our new home” just to make up for the 10 things you hate 🤣😂🤣😂

That island would drive me insane and I would have lost my mind. They definitely would have corrected it and should have never installed it with that big of a difference.
So glad that you are doing better Elli .
You should replace the island counter with a beautiful slab of quartzite.
I love Ellie’s laugh!
For your countertop, you should be going back to the company because the chemical spots should not happen and will 100% be covered through warranty.
You should definitely make the countertop company fix your island. We got quartz countertops and have one seam that they planned out to have them match almost exactly and you cannot even see the seal unless you look up very closely. oh my gosh, the countertops would drive me crazy too! Like I don't think I could let that go like you did.
This was such a great video, you had me in fits of laughter, and like you said too marry your best friend goes a long way in having a long happy marriage 😂❤
This video is awesome. Living in our first home, I can relate to finding things after living in it that we hate and would do differently. I don’t comment much but THIS is what I needed. Thank you for the laughs, this was awesome

Be more thankful I have been homeless with 4 kids for 9mo and now we live in a travel trailer and now able to buy a house and it sucks 😞
I love this so much!!! I love seeing your fun personalities come out!

Love you guys! Lots of good info for when we build in the future!
I fully understand this! My husband and I just moved in to our new home a month or so ago. We had it custom built, so you’d think it would be perfect for us. Noooope.
My favourite video you have ever posted, love you guys!!! This is also hilarious as well as educational/useful!!! 😂
I love everything about this video! You both are hilarious and whoever buys a house or moves into a home of there dreams knows the feeling!
How can the company say counter space is fine and nothing wrong when its 2 diffrent shades right threw 😅😨
For your shower you can get water proof mini labels to help. Might not be the most pretty thing to look at but at least you’ll have them labeled w
Happy 13th anniversary Ellie and Jared ❤
LOL that was really funny. I expected at the end for you to jokingly say "We need to build a new house".
this video was so much fun to watch haha!
Those countertops would make me mad too. They should change that.
just label the shower! geez easy fix
Triggered much? My goodness.
Yeah I would hate that about the island counter top too!
This was actually very entertaining lol
I bet they can switch out just the part of the counter you don't like! I would contact them. This was such a cute video. ❤
This video was great!! I was laughing right along with you guys! 😂
This video was so fun! I could see that it was almost painful for you to "hate" your house. 😂😂😂
