      It is a pathetic shambles, we voted to leave. The politicians, the mainstream, especially the BBC and the narratives they push, their globalist agenda, are simply ignoring our vote and making an absolute mockery of Democracy, and laughing stock of Britain around the world. The progressive liberalism the BBC has relentlessly pushed, funded by us, under duress, the attack on morals, on traditions, on our indigenous people, history and culture is NOT making Britain a better place in my lifetime. 1984 was supposed to be fictional.

    • @Garmez120
      @Garmez120 5 лет назад +2

      Charles Wood Yep, this country is a pathetic shambles alright. Thanks mainly to those who were groomed by the media and the brexiters into voting Leave. This country, since June 23rd, has been a laughing stock thanks to a bunch pushing an agenda off the back of jingoistic false nationalism. Now they’re whipping you into a frenzy with little catchphrases such a ‘stealing Brexit’, ‘killing democracy’ and ‘betrayal’. They keep telling you that all Remainers are calling you stupid, when in fact it’s they who are treating you as stupid.
      The funny thing is it’s those groomed Leavers who think they’re the enlightened ones? 🤣😂 Further brainwashed by RUclips videos and little twitter echo chambers. 1984 ? BBC pushing a liberal narrative? What planet are you on! If they did their job, clowns like Farage wouldn’t have had more appearances than any MP on Question Time and they’d take him, Mogg and the rest to task on all the lies they’ve told. At least Marr tried to the other day, and little baby Nigel got rather upset didn’t he?

The bill did not contain any requirement for the UK Government to implement the results of the referendum, nor set a time limit by which a vote to leave the EU should be implemented. @randomdaveUK 5 лет назад +10

      @Kevin Feeney what he meant was there weren't any facts behind leaving. They were skewed. One leave voter may have voted to leave for a totally different reason to the person next to them who also voted to leave. Such a vast number of reasons to vote for either but the fact of the matter is anyone who voted leave would have had no idea of the event to follow in the 2 years afterwards, leading to getting this deal.
      It hasn't been easy. The deal isn't great. We might end up following EU laws for years to come without any say until we sort ourselves out. I don't think anyone voted for that.
      So he's right. They didn't truly know what they were voting for. "Taking back control" maybe, don't make me laugh

      @Kevin Feeney if there was another vote, what's the problem? If the country still wanted to leave having seen the deal and now has more information, they're making a more informed decision aren't they?

    • @randomdaveUK

      @Kevin Feeney so everyone that voted leave knew the true length of the negotiations and having to take on all EU laws until we sort out a future deal in the 2yr period after we leave, longer if the backstop is enacted. I think not.
      There were people on the TV screaming "we left the EU though" thinking the vote was instantaneous 😂😂
      No I didn't read Cameron's letter. I didn't trust his opinion, only facts. There were lots out there about the benefits of staying. Not so much for leaving...

    What has gobsmacked continentals is not so much the Brexit decision itself: a country should of course, if it wants to, be able to leave the EU.
    It’s the way politicians (and large parts of the media) have handled it: their failure to come clean to voters about the fact that the Brexit they were promised does not exist; that any Brexit at all will come at a hefty price, certainly in the short and medium term; and that Britain, in the 21st century, simply does not occupy the same place in the world as it did in the 19th, or even much of the 20th.

  • @diogenes9524
    @diogenes9524 5 лет назад +93

    The elephant in the room is IMMIGRATION. The references to security, 'borders' and 'freedom of movement' recognised the issue, but they were ignored by the other panellists. The Brexiteers I speak to are willing to accept economic disadvantage in order to avoid a deluge of refugees from Merkel's open borders. They also see sovereignty and democracy as worth a struggle, and prefer it to government by bureaucrats. Remainders may think these are worthless or irrelevant factors, but they are the basis of the Leavers position, and need to be addressed.

    • @diogenes9524
      @diogenes9524 5 лет назад +15

      Fanagot, you may be right, but pretending there are no elephants plays into the hands of the Leavers. Merely calling them racists and xenophobes no longer has any effect - mere NPC language. Until the effects of globalisation and immigration are recognised and debated on their merits, without resorting to insult with no substance, the elephants will just keep growing. That is what is happening, that is why Tommy Robinson, UKIP, and the hard Brexiteers are not backing down but are getting stronger. Farage and Nuttall look like moderates this week. BBC Newsnight does nobody any favours by confining the debate to 'acceptable' topics.

    • @diogenes9524
      @diogenes9524 5 лет назад +10

      fanagot: do you think 'nipping it in the bud' will require violence? The Antifa and 'punch a Nazi' movements served mostly to brand the left as totalitarian and willing to use violence as a means to an end, so that would do little good. Better a proper public debate than running battles on the streets.

    • @Land-of-reason

    • @speedyhillski
      @speedyhillski 5 лет назад +13

      @@Land-of-reason the better understanding of realism is that immigration into the UK on a large scale is an inevitablility. The latest figures show the same amount of people coming into the country just a switch from a majority EU to a majority non-eu. Unlike Germany we don't train our Young properly. We have a shortage of 40,000 nurses in the UK and that is entirely the fault of Westminster cutting wages and most importantly scrapping the maintenance grant. I see the impact of this everyday with my job

    • @Truthshallsetu3
      @Truthshallsetu3 5 лет назад +4

      The elephant in the room is you becoming an unwanted immigrant to 27 other countries. The U.K. simply has to use their laws to impose more controls which is not controlled by the EU. You never know what you have until it’s gone so maybe you deserve a no deal Brexit.

    She is absolutely right! Alistair Campbell refuses to try and understand, as do the majority of Remainers, as to why people voted to Leave. It wasn’t so much about the economics it was more about identity, sovereignty, concern about the EU and the way it is progressing. It’s the bigger picture but Alistair refuses to try and engage in that conversation just the same as we he did over the Iraq war. It’s his arrogance that is his downfall.
    Many Brexiteers are prepared to compromise and accept a deal but Remainers don’t even want that and that is causing even more conflict and resentment. His gloomy forecast is proving to be overinflated as
    at the moment the economy is doing much better than predicted so how does he explain that?

      @Martin Cheung It would only be "in effect voting for prices to go up" if you (the UK) choose to impose tariffs on your imports. It would entirely be up to you, the other member countries would have no say. Right now you are choosing to pay higher prices for many many items by being a member of the EU. The EU is a protectionist racket that can't compete with global prices on many many goods and services. As Mr. Jacob Reese-Mogg likes to point out your prices right now on food, clothing and footwear are artificially high because you're protecting EU businesses from competing against the global market. The EU does not have a monopoly on food, clothing and footwear and once you're out of the EU you're free to buy them from whomever you choose and have them compete for your business.
      You really think you'll have no trade deals ever again? How long will you be trading on WTO rules alone? a couple months? a week? a day? America has a deal ready to go the moment you're free to sign it.

    • @CrowColdblade
      @CrowColdblade 5 лет назад

      @@AustinDpOwers89 wrong, the prices has already gone up due to the pound becoming weaker. And even if you dont have tarrifs you need to start processing everything that comes into the country from the EU. Someone will have to pay for it, and as always the consumer will carry the extra cost.

      The people were lied to, in an outrageous campaign, which broke many rules and laws, and thus the outcome of the advisory referendum should be declared null and void, and article 50 revoked. If then it is felt that we should have a second referendum later (which I think would be a mistake), then it must be very carefully run, with any information properly referenced and checked.
