  • Cesar's story is a powerful one, it shows the power of healing through water sports and nature, as well as turning pain and loss into community and support for others. We thank Cesar and the wider Paddle Across The Bay team for founding and continuing to run such a powerful community event.
Paddle Across the Bay is Australia’s largest stand-up paddle event, travelling from Brighton Beach to Port Melbourne - a 10km, 1.5 to 2 hour journey across beautiful Port Phillip Bay. The event raises tens of thousands of dollars for Lifeline Australia each year and it costs Lifeline $39 for every call answered, so just $39 to save a life of someone in crisis.
Over 65,000 Australians make a suicide attempt each year and in 2022, over 3000 Australians took their own life. For each of those lives lost to suicide, the impacts are felt by up to 135 people, including family members, work colleagues, friends, first responders at the time of death.
The 13 11 14 phoneline remains a crucial way for help-seekers to contact Lifeline and is additionally now available via phone, text, or online chat. Lifeline exists to ensure that no person in Australia has to face their darkest moments alone.
    For 24/7 support please call 13 11 14, text 0477 13 11 14 or chat on lifeline.org.au
