    I review and unbox the Baroque 27 x 41 inch movie poster portfolio. I also cover how to fix the problem with the binder rings that do not close properly and cause pages to come out of the rings. A warning to anyone who wants to try this: this does require the use a lighter and needless to say, posters and fire don't mix well so proceed with caution and at your own risk.

    I discovered if you stick a pencil tip in the end hole in a stack of sleeves, you can put a large stack in at once.

    Thanks for the very helpful review.
    I've also been using Bags Unlimited for several years, although it seems as though their 27x40/41 micro chamber paper is suddenly no longer available, which is annoying.
    Are there any issues with the posters not being on a hard backing board and being able to bend/fold? I'm guessing the sleeves for this poster binder wouldn't have room for a backing board?
    Is the paper sleeve acid free etc? I'm guessing you're happy with the preservation quality of this long term?

      Yes it's all acid free, archival quality stuff. That's important to me since many of my posters are signed and I've invested a lot of time and money into them.
      I have been assured that the problems with the rings not fully closer on earlier versions of the product like mine have been fixed in the current production line, but I can't speak to that directly.
      As for the backing, I haven't found it necessary or that it has caused any damage to my poster after the 2+ years they've been in these portfolios.
      Everything stays flat in there, but turning the pages can be a bit awkward due the sheer size of it all. Overall, I prefer this over the bags and backing boards I had been using prior.

    Thanks for the review. I’m considering purchasing a 24”x36” portfolio to store some music posters. I’m curious, does the portfolio have to be stored flat, or can it stand-up (handle side up) without damaging the posters inside?

      Thanks for watching. You can’t stand it on that edge. It’s not ridged enough. You could hang it from the handle though

    Thanks for posting this! I, also, had the problem with the binder rings; if you put the tubing on, aren't you pretty much preventing anymore sleeves to be added or do they slip out of the tubing and back in?

    • @TalesFromTheCollection
      @TalesFromTheCollection  Год назад +2

      It's only semi-permanent. The tubes come off, and you can just repeat. Supposedly, newer portfolios don't have this issue, according to Baroque.

      @@TalesFromTheCollection I know this comment is 9 months old, but figured I would chime in. I just got this for Christmas and the rings seem to close nicely with no gaps, so seems they resolved it.

    Hi Tim, great video and thanks for sharing your review. I've recently purchased a Baroque portfolio for my 1-sheet poster collection and am anxiously awaiting its arrival from overseas. One question I have is what diameter heat shrink tubing did you use to fix the binder issue?

    • @TalesFromTheCollection
      @TalesFromTheCollection  3 года назад

      Glad you found it useful. I used 3mm heat shrink tubing like this one amzn.to/3pmkIgL .

    Thanks for the heads up on this poster binder . I too am still using bags from Bags Unlimited and was thinking of ordering this , but for what they're charging for this , the problem with the rings not closing all the way is bullshit . So I'm most likely not going to order this model . Again thank you for the video . 👍

      I haven't been able to test the revised portfolios, but this issues has supposedly been fixed according to Baroque Portfolios.
      I was using bags from bags unlimited before this and even with the flaws on the older version, I still prefer the portfolio.
