Seriously, people. This is by far one of the greatest songs ever made. Surely my favorite on "In Dream", and possibly growing on me to become my favorite Editors' song ever. I don't get how fans of the earlier Editors can be disappointed with this one. The lyrics are as simple and resonant as can be, the music is intricate and multilayered, the build-up towards the ending is huge… And it sure doesn't hurt one bit that the official music video is stunning, visually and conceptually, and that they are all incredibly handsome and beautiful (I mean damn who wouldn't wanna jump in a white-paint-pool with any of them, right? ;P ) Sure, the distance between this and the first album is astronomical. The shift in their genre occurred most boldly in the electronic third album- an album I've only recently learned to appreciate and love as well. And the fourth (previous) album was also another change in genre, to more country-oriented and folklore vibe in it, and it was the first album of theirs I purchased before I decided to purchase their entire discography I first heard Editors and been hooked on "Bullets" for weeks or even months so I get the enormous love for their original, kick-ass, rocking sound; but what kind of an artist just makes up the same thing over and over again and don't get you tired and sick of them? Editors began as a bold, young and shiny rock band, with their debut "The Back Room" and their second album "An End Has a Start", mainly delivering uplifting rock music, already full of style, promise, meaningfulness in lyrical terms and a great voice from the lead singer. But "In This Light & On This Evening" was also blessed with gems, and "The Weight of Your Love" is an album I can hear in it's entirety on repeat for weeks. Now their last release "In Dream" is already making its way up my favorite list and several songs in it are really amazing- if very different from any of their other albums, but only in a really good way! If anything, the band has matured. These guys have found that they can (and want) to explore various directions, innovate, and go on a musical journey, with the ability to pull off multiple genres: indie rock, ballads, electronic, modern folk, and most recently even pop. Tom's voice was phenomenal from the get-go, but if you really can't see how much better it is now, you're officially deaf; I mean, come freaking on- he used to sound great but now he can go from deep baritone to stunning falcetto effortlessly, sounding like an angel incarnate! If you close your eyes and listen don't you feel like you're drifting on clouds??? My favorite Editors songs has to be: "Bullets", "Munich", "Camera" and "Distance" (from "The Back Room"); "Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors", "An End Has a Start", "The Racing Rats", "Push Your Head Towards the Air" and "Bones" (from "An End Has a Start"); "Bricks & Mortar", "Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool", "Walk the Fleet Road", "You Don't Know Love" and "Papillon" (from "In This Light & On This Evening"); "What Is This Thing Called Love?", "Bird of Prey", "Nothing", "Sugar", "Honesty", "A Ton of Love", "The Phone Book" and "Formaldehyde" (from "The Weight of Your Love"); "Our Love", "All the Kings", "Life Is a Fear", "Ocean of Night", "No Harm" and obviously "Marching Orders" (from "In Dream"). I did recognize the start of Munich as I'm nearly sure it was used for the intro music of a radio sports show about 10 years ago. But Tom's voice blew my mind hearing it live that day! It was the best unexpected hour I got to witness! And to think they were in Ireland earlier this year only 10 days after my birthday and I didn't even know them! I love Editors. Every album is literally a unique piece of genius. My favorite albums are The Back Room and An End has a start. I used to listen to them after I got back from England. Unfortunately, I don't have the money or resources to see them at Glastonbury or Coachella.
I love this song - the opening is just absolutely astounding and Tom's voice seems to sound more incredible than ever. I know many people just want an album full of 12 different versions of Munich, but this is what's called artist development. I don't think the band would find it very exciting to produce the same shit over and over. Plus if it did sound like Munich people would no doubt be writing comments like 'Sounds just like Munich, so boring, why don't they try doing something else' People are always going to criticise. I personally love this direction - it sounds like a hybrid of ITLAOTE and TBR. Can't wait for the full album.
robertgreally Why you don't get lost and listen to interpol and franz ferdinand?? xDD this is a different musical direction and it doesn't be always like The Back Room c;
carlos favila I don't want them to do a back room 2.0, I want them to do produce a good album. Hyena proved why even if they tried to do the back room style again they would fail at it. I was already a big fan of the music that influenced the third album (Depeche Mode, LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, Ministry, New Order, Muse, Cut Copy) and fourth album (R.E.M. Arcade Fire, Bruce Springsteen, The National, Kings of Leon). The problem is that the third and fourth album sounds terrible when compared to those artists that influenced them. Editors only imitate the styles, they never understand the substance or bring their own take on it. Ultimately what ever style they take, its a superficial change. The last 2 albums had questionable song writing, poor production and lack luster execution. These issues persist whether on trying to imitate the Boss or Depeche Mode. Given that the Back Room was a poor man's Interpol or Franz Ferdinand, maybe Editors were always followers, never leaders.Instead of focusing on what capitalising those moments of brilliance and potential across their discography, Editors seem more interested in re-inventing themselves.
robertgreally Well, I think I own you an apologize, but only Editors had the decision to do that things you said. I understand what you try to tell, but, in my opinion: I like all their stuff, I think it's great; I understand that you don't like the last 2 albums, its normal that the people don't like a band at all...but i think you should't say that "Its the worst album" because, in the end, its just only your opinion, and not all the people think like you do.

well since everything here is so negative I feel compelled to weigh in a little. There was an interview with an artist, I can't remember who, who was upset about fans claiming that they were returning to their roots or straying too far from their core or whatever, and his response was that as humans and as musicians we're all learning, changing, and growing, and at any point an album is made by a band it is just a snapshot of where they all are in their ever changing and progressing state. Ya, The Back Room was great, that was how I found Editors and I've been a fan since. An End Has A Start is one of my all time favorite albums. I'm pretty sure you (yes you reading this right now) have gone through a change in your musical tastes and influences of the past 10 years (Backroom came out in '05) and so have they. I think it's my album of the year and probably the best Editor's record. At first I thought What is it? but after a few listenings I became addicted to it. In my humble opinion, the band, with this record, entered the hall of fame. I miss so much albums like this ...which keep growing in you. My favourite ones are Our love and All the Kings. The songs on the album are either excellent or the perfect ones. I'm waiting for you in POLAND.
Great! I honestly cannot wait for yet another new sound of the new album. It's great that one can always expect something different from you guys, and as much as some fans are not handling it too well, I trust the direction you're heading and your honesty with both your music and yourselves.
Simplemente soberbio y sublime. Motivación para el gimnasio y la pista de carreras para dar más y superar límites: the dreamer in you, breaking rules, tryin' to get more!
Totally agree bands sometimes have to move on, develope and try differant things.Thats what seperates artists from the rest. Some changes work some don't, its about taking risks.Great track, really enjoyed it thank you x
STUNNING. Simply stunning. You're amazing guys, always been, and nobody else but Rahi could have incredibly caught your inner, beautiful essence in this magic and almost dreamlike way. Really can't wait to see you here in Italy in November.
I don't know who Editor is, but it was recommend by amazon coz I love indie alternative rock...I hurry myself search this group and this...This is my type of music and voice that I am looking for in an Indie alternative rock artist. No doubt, I just pre-ordered it.
Iv been an Editors fan since the back room, and yes its not the same. But what is the same is the pure emotion, this song and every sing song which as been written by Tom & co grips me for the same reason and this song is no exception. The fire
I used to write down my dreams
Now they're gone when my eyes open on you
Well even though you've fucked up
There's still the makings of a dreamer in you
I will fall with the rain
I will flicker with the flame
I will fall with the rain
I will flicker with the flame
The fire, fire
These are the marching orders
These are the rules that we break
These are the doubts we cling to
Tryin' to give more
Tryin' to give more
These are the marching orders
These are the rules that we break
These are the doubts we cling to
Tryin' to give more
Tryin' to give more than we take
(ohhh)
Tryin' to give more
Tryin' to give more
These are the marching orders
These are the rules that we break
These are the doubts we cling to
Tryin' to give more
Tryin' to give more
(ohhh)
(Tryin' to give more)
Tryin' to give more
+Henrik Thranum Dude, Tom Smith shared the lyrics... It says: "Tryin' give more"
xDD
+carlos favila Thanks mate. I've changed the text.
(I simply copy/pasted from one of the many lyric sites. Didn't see the wrong text.)
+Henrik Thranum Editors @ Twitter, 14th June: "Tryin' to give more, tryin' to give more."

Thanks for such a beautiful gift! 👍😉😘😘😘🌹
Wyjechałem w kosmos.
Bravo.
5:25 till the end.. Mind-blowing. If you agree, thumbs up !
❤😀 magnificent!!!!

Anasthesia Wholocked love it
Really glad they are koving from the uninspired directions of the last album and going synthrock again
If you don't think this song is a masterpiece then you just don't get it
This song and video are filled the meaning. I think the song is beyond a masterpiece.
That’s why the videos in black-and-white... your surmise your own meaning.
These days there are so many underrated songs …. I am so happy that I did find this band many years ago 🎉…. Pure talent …

The Dublin Live @ The Olympia Theater was AWESOME!!!!
Great! I honestly cannot wait for yet another new sound of the new album. It's great that one can always expect something different from you guys, and as much as some fans are not handling it too well, I trust the direction you're heading and your honesty with both your music and yourselves.
La voz de Tom Smith es increíble ♫ ♪ ♭ ♬ ♩ son los mejores EDITORS
Rahi Rezvani is doing wonders with the development of Editors visual style. Hope they continue collaborating.
Some shots in here are simply stunning.
I'm in love with this video

This song is bigger than me. It's been 5 years but I still can't get enough of it. It's like a curse, if you listen to it you have to repeat it.

Amazing and powerful as always.
This has got to be the best Editors song!!! LOVE IT!!!
one of their finest ones for sure. After 3 years I still get back to it over and over again, and never get tired!
I love Tom's voice in every song I become hypnotized
If he could be your guy you would be so lucky
Simplemente soberbio y sublime. Motivación para el gimnasio y la pista de carreras para dar más y superar límites: the dreamer in you, breaking rules, tryin' to get more!
Bon très bon - en attendant l'album
Totally agree bands sometimes have to move on, develope and try differant things.Thats what seperates artists from the rest. Some changes work some don't, its about taking risks.Great track, really enjoyed it thank you x
such an incredible voice! Sends shivers down my spine!
Let's make a million views for the most underrated band in the world.
I heard this song for the first time tonight and I had to youtube it again... wow this is really good... how have I not heard of this band before?!?
I absolutely adore this song. I can't wait for the tour.
Mmmm, I like it a lot. The colour grading of this video is the bomb.
This. This is extraordinary.
Un pur bonheur !
STUNNING. Simply stunning. You're amazing guys, always been, and nobody else but Rahi could have incredibly caught your inner, beautiful essence in this magic and almost dreamlike way. Really can't wait to see you here in Italy in November.
still EPIC
Editors todo mi amor desde Colombia!!
I know when i see them in October I will be wowed, Editors never have been a studio band and I really can not wait until this gets showcased live!
