    Good comparison. We dig the added sparkle of the V Type better for clean stuff but also liked it better for the dirty stuff. We can see how a 2x12 cab with one of each would be great though. The A type was less tear your head off for leads though.

      Yeah man. That was my conclusion too; the v-type is a pretty awesome speaker for everything really.

    Great vid!! I am currently using a V Type in a 1x12 tube combo. Love it! Your sound from the beginning on is sooo sassy! Amazing tone and dynamics. Definitely favor the V over the A. Your sound is now making me look up Dr Z amps...Curse you!! lol

    love your playing. that's one stratty sounding strat. my vote goes strongly toward the V.

      guitarzan zan thanks man. The strat has dimarzio area pickups, they're a fantastic noiseless option. I prefer the V too

    The V Type can be really beautiful at a gig. Super musical is a good description. My favorite Celestion and a total keeper.

    Killer demo. That's the way they should be done. It's the V for me.

  • @Tom_Platz
    @Tom_Platz 8 лет назад +4

    Thanks for the demo! For the clean tones, I honestly couldn't hear much of a difference. For the crunch tones, I preferred the V-type. But, it could have been because the volume level of the V-type recording was slightly higher than the recording for the A-type. Great playing too!

    • @samwilcockmusic
      @samwilcockmusic  8 лет назад +2

      Thanks man. To me, the V has an upper mid presence that means it pokes through the mix more. In clean sounds that just made it a little louder and toothier. For drive sounds, it's noticeably more aggressive. I've found the A type to be a nice match for a bright amp, and if you're playing clean all gig it's much less fatiguing while retaining definition. V is a great rock-voiced speaker.

    • @samwilcockmusic
      @samwilcockmusic  8 лет назад +1

      Tom Platz thanks man! The V type tends to poke through the mix more; the volumes were the same but that mid presence means it'll always get heard. Cheers for watching.

    The V type sounds more Fenderish to me. Weird. On the other hand, Fender are mainly Jensen speakers or Eminence speakers.

    Have both these speakers and the A type is brighter, clearer and does not muddy up with high gain. It is my favorite in my Fender and Blackstar amps.

      Really just depends on the amp. I have a new Fender bass breaker with the V Type and sounds wonderful clean and cranked.....

    The V type recording was louder even the drum and bass tracks were louder so kinda skews things.

      Alex Gambill fair comment. I can’t remember how I recorded this, but it was my first attempt at mixing audio with video so I’m sure I made plenty of mistakes!

    • @samwilcockmusic

      True World yeah it’s a semi open back cab. And the V definitely has more bite! To me it has GB highs and mids and V30 lows.

      No it’s true, it nice to hear someone who can make the equipment sound as it should. I personally thought the v type came over better recorded.
      Could I ask what you thought of the speakers? Is that an open back cab?

      Yeah I hear that too. The A-Type is super smooth. I've been using two Neo V-Types in my Orange amp which I love, but I've recently put an A-Type in a VHT Special 6 Ultra combo practice amp. Good for that tweedy 6V6 breakup tone.

      Ollonskog it’s great. Light, sounded big too with a tight low end. Superb value. The tolex ain’t great and mine’s in poor condition from changing speakers so often but I think you can’t go wrong at that price.
