Such a beautiful hymn, beautiful voices, and amazing pipe organ. Perhaps those who gave it a thumbs down don't understand its meaning and particular relevance on Resurrection Day, IJS
Love love love everything !! That organist is amazing ! He plays like an Episcopal organist. We sang this song at the end of my Moms funeral, and I insisted that no one left their seat until every verse had been sung.
For all the saints who from their labors rest, Who Thee by faith before the world confessed; Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest. Alleluia, Alleluia! Thou wast their Rock, their Fortress and their Might; Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight; Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true Light. Alleluia, Alleluia! O blest communion, fellowship divine! We feebly struggle, You in glory shine; Yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine. Alleluia, Alleluia! And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long, Steals on the ear the distant triumph song, And hearts are brave again, and arms are strong. Alleluia, Alleluia! From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast, Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host, Singing to the Father and the Son. Alleluia, Alleluia!
What a powerful Future Life Hymn I want people to sing at my funeral when the Lord calls me home! May the faithful Lord count us worthy to reign with Him in Glory
This is the very first hymn that I sang as a chorister in 1967, the first hymn that I learned to play on the piano then the pipe organ and I've yet to tire of it as I love the text and I LOVE the wonderful Ralph Vaughn Williams hymn tune as it's one of the finest and memorable melodies in hymns. This brought tears to my eyes. BRAVISSIMMO Tom Trenney!!
That church is doing something right to attract that many choir members (maybe so paid) with the congregation picking up the hymnal and singing. No gimmicks.
not sure if you guys cares but if you're bored like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the new series on InstaFlixxer. Been watching with my brother lately xD
Superb! Thank you very, very much. I remember singing this hymn while in 9th grade at Concordia Collegiate Institute, Bronxville, New York in the 1962-1963 school year. Andy McKane, Maunaloa, Molokai.
Interesting way how the organist plays, look at his hand motion vs others. But the guy is amazing! He is definitely one of the best organists I have ever heard. I myself am an organist too though. This church is so blessed to have him though, I am only 14 years old, but it is really hard for churches to find organists now.
Reed, the organist is Tom Trenney. He is truly amazing. He would be a good person to reach out to. It’s a blessing to hear about young organist like you. Look up Josh Kraybill on RUclips. He is about your age. He too is an amazing organist.
And i heard a voice from heaven say write blessed are the dead which die in the lord for yes says the spirit that they may rest from thier labours and thier works will follow them
I LOVE altered chords, especially in the final verse. It is like candy for the ear. I dont understand why so many churches dont even have an organ, the king of all instuments. Pop style worship to me is nothing special and belongs on a stage or radio.
And I heard a great voice from heaven say to me write blessed are the dead which die in the Lord for yes says the spirit that they may rest from thier labour's and thier work will follow them rev ch 14 vs 2
This is perhaps the most Anglican, non-Anglican church I've seen. At least in terms of their procession. I wonder if they use liturgy from the Book of Common Prayer. Very beautiful worship they put together!
I attend All Saints Indianapolis Episcopal Church it is an Episcopal Church obviously and we sing this song every All Saints Sunday or All Saints Day and they have it on key very good if I'm ever in Lincoln Nebraska definitely will attend this church
This glorious hymn is sung in EVERY Episcopal church in America on the first Sunday in November which is All Saints Day and probably other denominations as well. We're doing it this Sunday 11.3.19 in the Methodist church that I'm subbing in.
There is NOTHING, NOTHING like the music in a traditional Episcopal Church. Especially when they have an organist like this on. Just absolutely amazing!
At least 1001 liked this hymn,so a few sagging thumbs are not a big deal. We do not hear this every week, but I am sure I have heard Baptists singing it.
My stomach turns over when I see the U.S. American political flag in the sanctuary of a church. I see this as a desecration of the sacred space, and it shows me that the U.S.-Americans have neither culture nor behaviour. Even in our most nationally-conscious United Kingdom, no one would even think of doing such a thing. It would probably cause a shit storm of indignation.
Mik Be, I was reared in the deep south in the United States. It is an ultra conservative region, as is the midwest where this video was recorded. Unfortunately, many people in these areas conflate nationalism and religion. Sadly, they believe that it is patriotic. I have said, many times, that the American flag has no place in a house of worship. A person is a Christian first, and an American a distant second. One has nothing to do with the other. I agree with you 100%.
First, I'd say those folks are not there to worship a flag (neither the U.S. flag, nor the Christian flag on the opposite side), but they are worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ. Second, if having a flag is an error, well, the world is inhabited by humans that are fallible, so, mistakes will be made in churches-in America, and in the U.K. as well; no U.K. church is superior to any U.S. church, and vice versa. Third, what makes the space they're in sacred? 1 Cor. 3 says we are the temple of God, the Spirit of God dwells in us, the temple is holy (sacred), and that is what we are. That's a beautiful reminder to me that we are the church, not a building, because Christ is in us, and we are in Him, and we are all part of His body. So, we should focus on the things of God that unite us, and not on lesser things (like the presence of a flag) that can divide us, and treat one another with respect and love, in the spirit of our Lord Jesus.
@@israelarunah2977 You're welcome, brother Israel! And, thank you! I'm just wanting to give a different perspective, and trying to be positive, a uniter.
Trying to figure out why 42 thumbs-down for such an amazing song! I would like to see you all of you try to play the organ to this tune!
"why" Satan
I love it but a lot of people dislike traditional hymnody, high church, or any liturgy. I think they are missing something important.
For real -what exactly the problem?
They are all-thumbs.
I've played Sine Nomine on the organ. This organist knocks it not just out of the park, he lands it just short of the gates of heaven. Well done.

Pardon the expression, but he is one absolute hell of an organist. Nice set of pipes, as well. :)
This is one of my absolute favorite hymns.
Everything about this church suggests the music minister (and maybe the pastor also) highly admires Anglican/Episcopal liturgy. :)
"We feebly struggle, they in glory shine." AMAZING thought! I think of my father who is praising his Savior and is resting in eternity without sin.

AMEN AND AMEN!!! -- Pastor John
If I lived near, I’d never miss a Sunday, lest I miss the choir procession and hymn.
This church is so fortunate to have a wonderful choir and a fantastic organist!!

I chose the hymns for my mother's memorial service. This was very much one of them.
So beautiful!!!! Thank you!!! All praise to God!!
BEAUTIFUL HYMN.
My father passed yesterday. This will be the closing hymn at his thanksgiving service.🙏🏽
I dreamt one night I saw the Redeemed singing this song as they marched triumphantly into The Holy City of God
Take some Pepcid.
jensmom604 - hahahahaha
What a beautiful dream! May we all "be in that number when the saints go marching in..." yes, different song I know!

The reharmonization of the last verse is glorious. And what a great hymn remembering those who have fought the good fight. Thank you!

So encouraging to read about musical interest among young churchgoers. Blessings on your music ministry.
Outstanding organist!
Jay Tillman yeah!, who is the organist?
Tom Trenney is the organist. One of the best.
Hear, hear. - I agree!
Such fantastic organ playing! Love it!
Love the way the sopranos shine up at the end.

VERY nice rendition of one of my favorite hymns. Great set of organ pipes, too, and I like the organ parts on the various verses.
Love this -wish I lived there so I could be in this choir!
The organist and choiristers are awesome
🤣🤣Yes dear, let's go with that shall we?
Fantastic arrangement. Wonderfully performed. Guaranteed goose bumps. Organ play leads to heavenly places!

used to sing in the choir I loved this song so much
Wow! You can actually hear the congregation singing!!

If only the Catholic church could learn to singmlike this...

This church is a congregation of the United Church of Christ, and they use the United Church of Christ Book of Worship for their liturgy.
@@uccsteve3187 so that's a "no" then 🤣🤣
and to think Ralph was told as a young man to stop playing tuneless music! His stuff is among my favourite. items.

My old school hymn
Is this a university church? So many young men in the choir--most unusual in most churches of today. You're so fortunate to have them.
United Church of Christ
Yes, it is very near the University of Nebraska and draws many students and faculty, especially from their music department.
Jesus is sweet.
And they where surrounded by such a great crowd of whitnesses
Magnificent
I love this tune as an organist and pianist. And I do love to reharminise too ❤
I like this one better than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's.
I'll take either, but I am partial to this one, as well.
Going Peacefully amidst the opposite.
We shall be changed from mortal to immortality, from corruptible to incorruptible
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible.
God be praised!
Lovely
Excellent version for sure! If you would like to hear more of this song check out the George HW Bush Funeral.
This is my all-time favorite hymn, but I'm curious why there is not text shown of the best verse in the song.
Even Catholics sing this one.
GREAT ORGANIST.

I would like to play this at my wife's funeral next week, is this a good song?
It is a superb hymn and very fitting for a memorial service. Go for it.
Is this arrangement published?
