  • Here is 16 year old sophomore guard from Trinity Christian. Expect 6'2 Dennis Smith Jr to be making a lot of noise very soon on the AAU circuit. Dennis led Trinity Christian to it's 2nd state title by hitting a gamewinner in the semi's and in the championship game. Most of these clips are from when he was 15 years old.

Smith had about 30th that night against Woods in a blow out. Then the next night Smith dropped 42 points; He may play at a 1A school but, its private, So they play the top schools in State and out of State form year to year. It's crazy to me how a young player that's being compared to DWade, or Westbrook, or a young DRose, a John Wall, Baron Davis, Kyle Lowery, Steve Francis, or Damien Lillard could slip all the way to #9. I'm glad he fell to the Mavs though. That's probably the best place he could have landed, given the coaching, the ownership that looks out for the players, and veteran leadership that's already in place there. DSJ is going to be something really special if he can stay healthy.

Yes, they are both extraordinarily athletic sophomore guards. I do believe that Dennis Smith plays with a bit more composure though. Clearly you wouldn't get that impression from watching this video, and I'm not saying by ANY means that he is composed, but when you compare him to Seventh, there is a bit more body control. He is also a much more willing passer with better vision in traffic. His drive and dish game is very solid. They're have very close games, but there is a difference.
