I tend to swing between paying minute attention to something like maximising coaching levels, but smash the assist assign button on mentoring. Something I find gives players a good development boost is throwing them on as subs in games when it's comfortable, even 15-20 minutes seems enough to give them the higher level match experience.
This is a priceless video mate, there are lots of things we neglect when growing our hardly found wonderkids ! For example i never go into mentoring groups but i'll try to go into it more often from now
When giving youth players match experience, it is worth noting that players only gain experience when they get a match rating. And you only get a match rating by playing 15 minutes or longer. So bringing a youth player off the bench for the last 5 minutes will not gain them any experience. Also, the higher the reputation the competition, the more match experience they'll gain.
This. I thought i was the only one. Its actually the first thing I do, and I recon everyone should do. I dont advance without having all staff at least with 3,5*. Even Physios. Its the way to go ALWAYS.
I sometimes find, a good way to look at it is that; say for instance you are at an English Prem team, your youth player has interest from non league teams or similar standard in other countries. Is it best for your player to stay in your U23? In most cases I would say it is, especially if you have great facilities, as the standard of the U23s is probably better than the standard of the leagues interested. As you described, it's about balance and there is no "one-step solution" Good vid bud
This is really insightful, nice work. Anyway have you ever experiment or do a research about other hidden attributes? I know there are like 11 more of them.
@@OmegaLukeGaming I`d argue that consistency has quite an effect. Where two players of similar viewable attributes are one of high consistency, and one low, the difference in average match ratings are invariably substantial.
I don't mind the mentoring groups but 1 annoying thing is if you want your really young wonderkids 16/17yo to be mentored by senior players they have to be in the senior squad but i prefer to keep them in the youth squads because i have tailored training specific for youth players but previously a senior player could tutor a youth player regardless of what squad they was in.
Absolutely great point. Again it’s a balance, if you are happy to wait till they are 18/19 mentoring groups can still really help their development because it has an effect on ANY player until they reach a highly influential player from which they become the “mentorer” So keeping them in their tailored specific environment like you are already doing is probably a wise choice my friend. Thank you for the comment 🙌 P.S my nickname from my friends growing up is “Robbo” too 👀
I think only top teams benefit from investing in youth development. Because it really cost alot of money to recruit good players and pay all the good coaches. As a lesser team 95% of your youth players are rubbish anyway so the few ones that are worthy, you can put straight into you first team and give them some gametime when you're ahead. Then you can just neglect the second team and youth setup all together and save a lot of money.
@omegaluke - love the video dude. Mentoring has massively helped. Butttttt can you tell me the brand of your T-Shirt???? Random yes, but that's a sweet Tee. Cheers and good luck!
great job luke! i dont understand why determination of players keeps falling easily with or without groups. in my beta save in milan with groups tonali had lost 2 points after 3 years from the start and now in my new save with lille, im in october 20 and papetti has already lost 1 point without groups. now i will create them but ive sold most of the old guys. The staff in the beginning was bad but i brought many men and for the youth with good determination, working with youngsters and ambition. do you have an explanation for that and what to do to avoid it?
I usually buy 3-5 older players (30-35) that are Model Citizens and use them to mentor my younger players. You can usually find them for pretty cheap (5-100k) as they are nearing retirement. You usually dont have to promise them playing time which is nice but the one downside is that it bloats your squad.
its all about the mentor's hierachy in the team. usually team leader and high influential players will have higher influence in mentoring. to have a leader or high influential player in a team, make him team captain/vice captain or make him a regular starter in the team. cheers from Malaysia 🇲🇾
Training facilities or my level?!? When you have a loads of player in Man U, Man City etc you send them in your affiliate clubs in erdivise (Holland) or Portugal wherever you have it, usually in group and you opt to play in first team and then they get international experience, probably they will call them in national teams (especially in smaller nations etc). And you act like is something new about determination and what kind of person is he. You have discovered hot water! Congratulations😂
Getting stoned playing fm21 only way to spend lockdown lol only bad thing is when gf goes you playing that game again yes darling fancy making me a cup of tea ha ha
It's gonna be useless if your player only has 150 PA. If you want to make world class player you should use geniescout to search young player with at least 170 PA. If you have some questions please tell me. Thanks
That´s exactly what made Cristiano Ronaldo the player he is today... Talent, Ambition and professionalism so it makes sense that in game is the same too ;)
One of the best and most useful videos from any content creator of FM21. Thanks Luke, appreciate it buddy! Keep smashing it 👊🏼

Yeah I don’t pay nearly enough attention to them as I should
Luke, this video is insane! Top work.. I thought I knew how to develop youngsters but I still learnt so much from this
I second everything you said. I knew all before but for newbies It’s definitely useful. Well done mate

Excellent video, very Nice work Luke 💪 can't catch you live in twitch, but seeing all you Youth to Gold Vlogs 👍
First thing i do, when i start a new game, i go trough the entire staff setup, both first team u23-u18

Great content as always!
I always forget to set up coachin for my reserve and youth teams.
Will do it in my current save straight away!
I'm 34. Been playing FM since the first championship manager. Still neglect many aspects of youth dev. You are not alone. Next game!!!
i took in a lot of wonderkids on my save. alienated my veteran players but eventually, my game gelled.
Brilliant content mate. Love this unique FM insight and education
Thank you my friend

Great video! Gonna try this out!
The best personality is true model citizen. Is you find player with that personality it would be good for you.

Any tips for the xbox version of the game? as its only the main man that can be added to your staff for example head of youth development
Unfortunately I haven’t played the Xbox version

any tips for developing players in non league? does all of this carry over to the same effect in non league ?
All will carry over my friend! The only difference is in non league is they train a lot less, so the sooner you become professional, the better

my team is actually way too young for mentoring each other.
Doesn’t have to be young guys, as an example their, Rashford is perfect and he’s only 22
