I am in England and our alarms are a little different but this is worth sharing. When i was in school we had a system with sounders that produced the classic Alternating pitch (up down up down up down) and every time the alarm was silenced during a test the sounders would slowly loose power resulting in the funniest sound i have ever heard (sounded like the sounders had melted). I was a young kid at the time in a room full of other young children so it stirred quite to funny reaction.
This actually happened once at my middle school a few years back. I was in music class, everyone was playing their instrument, and then the Wheelock NS, strobe started too glitch flash. Apparently My Teacher was spooked out by it a bit, and I noticed it too. I guess nobody else in class cared.
The NS and the Simplex alarms here use a microcontroller chip to control the strobe flash pulses and generate the annoying shriek waveform for the horn. I wonder if there was some major bug with the sync routines in these devices' software that went unnoticed 😨
Looks like an audible silence. Either that or a really low voltage is getting to the device somehow. I'd be curious to see the panel if it is a malfunction.
This happened to the fire alarms in my elementary school one time when I was in second grade, there was lightning one night and the next morning when I went into school I saw the Gentex SHG strobes on the wall flashing without the actual horn sounding, but then it was fixed a little bit afterwards
The video could have actually been recorded in 1998. Here’s why. Before the “TrueAlert” came out in 2001, there was an alarm called the Quick Alert. Very, very similar, so this video could have been recorded in 1998.
Here's another video of a Fire Alarm visual light glitch, but this one involves Simplex 4050-80 Light Plates and its at a high school. The glitch is all of the Light Plates are all staying solid on with no horns going off. There are also 2 videos. Video 1: ruclips.net/video/jhoKRW0t7Fg/видео.html Video 2: ruclips.net/video/mLRzlqJK5rg/видео.html
They did but under the name “QuickAlert”, they were renamed to TrueAlert in 2001 after a copyright issue (Edit: just found out from an old NFPA document that the TrueAlert came out in 2000, not 2001, the QuickAlert is from the late 90’s)
The ones I remember from installation in 1998 (or 1999?) has a different kind of sound, it was distinct from the True Alerts. (They were not the EM horns that were still being made at that time)
I renember when i was in elementry school and i heard the fire alarm going of shortly my elementry school use a fire lite bg 10 pull station and use a wheelock ms and a wheelock bell
No, they are actually horn strobe modules, and according to someone who worked here, they said the panel managing these modules at the pottery shop is actually wonky and glitches, and only select locations were flashing with no sound 💙💙

I know exactly where this is, I used to work there. The fire alarm system was always kinda wonky, especially in the restroom.

maybe the lightning set the system into ground fault and the alarms went off and were silenced, just theorizing
Even seeing it makes some of us think the fire alarm is gonna go off
seeing it once gives me the heart attack in anticipation of the earrape sound
Those things came out in 2001 so I don't know why your VHS would say 1998.
Idk why either honestly 💙💙

I saw it once at school. I was on my computer while some maintenance was occuring outside. Strobes started flashing unexpectedly.
I remember in are school we had a fire drill and this one kid was so scared he screamed and scared me more than the fire alarm😂😂😂
I've seen it happen a few times in high school. I thought I was tripping but someone else noticed one day.
That’s Simplex for ya 😂😂😂
Why the filter on the camera?
That's a bit weird if you ask me. Do you know what the panel is? Depending on what kind, the system could have selective silence.
I have no clue. 💙💙
Those are obviously simplex quick alerts since the truealert wasn’t released until 2001. Still a cool video
I think those are truealerts because all of the quickalert horns had a tiny grille
@@midkansasrailfan8995 Look at the video, it clearly states its from “1998” in which those are actual quickalerts

Lost footage of the Simplex fire alarm glitch.
Indeed.

wait, they first manufactured Tru Alerts back in 1998?
They did but under the name “QuickAlert”, they were renamed to TrueAlert in 2001 after a copyright issue

was this REALLY filmed on Oct 30 1998?
The truth is, it really wasn't, it was made on the uploaded date.
Maybe the alarm could have went off and they just silenced it. But maybe this is just a glitch
that happened at my highschool in 10th grade ap history class once but it blinked once

i’m not sure if truealerts were made in the 90s
They were made in 1999 but under QuickAlert name before in 2001 they changed to TrueAlert
How is the simplex truealerts acting like that
Recorded in 98 and uploaded 23 years later 😅 ( JK)
The reason why it isn’t making sound beacuse it’s a strobe not a horn strobe

Why is it filmed on a fake vhs effect?
Because I like the filter I sometimes use.
i got a half working tape camera with a dirty head that records better than this, what is wrong with with your camera?
