I don't know if you already knew that she actually did the original Screamin Jay Hawkins version of the song. It's like a tribute to the great Screamin Jay as you can see his face on the candle she's holding right at the start of the video. And if only you will see his version you will be going to appreciate Angelina's version here more. It is insane.
Great comment Ulysses. If I am not mistaken, Bob was one of the few reactors who was familiar with SJH’s original, and believe he recognized his face on the candle right from the start.
You are absolutely correct Ulysses, that seeing the original makes you appreciate Angelina’s cover on a whole different level. To be honest, I was not familiar with the original, but it was after seeing the two side by side that I realized that Angelina was a LOT more than just an exceptional singer and prodigy.

Now when I listen to new releases of Angelina’s music I ALWAYS look for her bare feet to be referenced.
For Angelina it reminds her of the little homeless girl she met so long ago and the importance of caring for those who are less fortunate than we are. For me - it reminds me that Angelina is not merely an exceptional singer and entertainer, but a caring soul whose voice is meant to encircle the globe with her message of love. ❤️❤️❤️

Besides all the great things Angelina Jordan did on this cover at the age of 9,another aspect to note,is what she did vocally on "I Put A Spell On You",that's not her style of singing,she did it just for this one cover,which goes to show,she can sing anyway she wants to,but,she chooses not to sing like that,eventhough she can,that's amazing. It's like hearing Karen Carpenter singing like Janis Joplin.

This cover by Angelina, since I first saw it 3 years ago, instantly became my favorite version.....AT 9 YEARS OLD. Better than Nina, CCR, Annie Lenox, Bette Midler and most recently even Haley Reinhart, my only other "favorite singer" who just released her version.
My thought about this performance is when she becomes globally famous, this "old" video will go ballistic as people look her up & stumble on this iconic video. Yes, in the 7 years since this was released, it has over 10 million views, but I believe in a few more years, I think it will reach a billion. It will definitely be included in all the future documentaries that will be made about her. Good one Bob, usually I don't like re-do video reactions, but this was well worth watching. The visuals and the singer do not match up and it's spellbinding to witness this young girl absolutely smashing this song to high heaven ! AJ in my books is the queen of jazz and is bringing back great music not heard in quite a while ! Old soul and young in stature Angelina is the real deal ! This was an absolute masterpiece and will be revisited many more million times as Angelina grows on popularity ! This song got me started on the AJ journey and I have never looked back since ! The "I love you I love you I love you" string it is truly most likely due to her studying of Louis Armstrong from age 8 to 9
I am quite confident that no one will ever find any kids of this age with that talent, and more surely genius....Just listen and look to those much (too) famous ladies of the day , Beyoncé, Aguilera, Carey at this age or older, they aren't even close. Because that young Lady has far more to offer than those Incredibles vocals abilities. As Rudolf Noureev said once about dancers, quote: "In the twentieth century they were three great dancers, Nijinsky, me, and Fred Astaire, and the true genius was Fred Astaire ". As for singing I will say great talents outside, yes but the true genius is AJ.
Back in the 40’s Frank Sinatra was called “The Voice”. He earned that title because he stood out from the rest of the artists of that time with his phrasing, arraignments and that warm mellow tone. Now just swap names from him to Angelina Jordan and what have you got? You’ve got all of the above plus a song writer, broader range, more musical diversity, and humility! Angelina just completes a song.
Great to see you again. I like the re-visit theme. This performance had me thinking just what you said about somebody behind the green curtain singing while AJ moved her mouth. The next one I checked out was Born To Die and because her mouth is hidden behind the filter I thought the same thing. I really focused on watching her mouth to confirm that was her. I had never listened to Lana Delray and watched her video of the song to compare. No comparison.

I'll save you the time measuring. It's 13 and 51/60ths seconds! One of the things that distinguishes Angelina's version of this song from others is that it builds from beginning to end, like a locomotive leaving the station, getting up some steam and then leaning on the whistle. I agree, it's the best version ever.

Like you said, now that you know the artists a little better, you also see their performances in a different light. And I really have to applaud this new reaction to Angelina. It is one of the best reactions I have seen to this performance I think 🙂 At least from a non-vocal couch perspective😉 No wonder I'm a fan of her, right ? She is definitely a one off. When i saw this the first time i was thinking on dubbing too, even i had voted for her win in NGT 2014. But then i thought, who would lend this voice to a 9 year girl, when she could blow the world up with this angelic voice! I did then recognize the voice even if it was a long time i heard her (i found it on youtube years after releace). Then i went on catching upon her and what a universe to fall into. I watched her in Kongsberg and it was best consert ever beating Springsteen, Rolling Stones, Kiss, A-ha and many others. I do wish she will return to Norway to do this intimate shows, it is an amazing experience! Great revisit!

I love this performance so much. As they say AJ don't play. We get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Anyone who discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point.
Think of the children who will be inspired by this one performance in the decades to come. This is an Iconic performance and will always be Iconic. Angelina has on her own from early on at 6 or 7 yrs old reintroduced what I believe will be a whole new Jazz Era and redefined by this young phenom and prodigy. That is astounding! And she is just 16 years old... That is unfathomable. She has already established her proficiency and incredible work ethic in this endeavor guided by an incredible family and professional support now surrounding her.
We know Angelina will continue to amaze! We will be here to experience and cherish it for as long as we live.... and I am praying for many more years for myself to enjoy it till the end of my days... I hope to go out of this world listening to the most beautiful voice ever created for man just as Angelina came into it to fulfill her purpose, what she was put on earth to do, sing for the whole World... and Me! To me Angelina is always singing to me transporting me to that beautiful place she inhabits when she sings and to experience it with her. She just doesn't hold that last note or a long time, the breath she used started with "I'm ". So the breath control is even more amazing than just hold long she held that note.

Great idea doing a rereaction to this one. Surely a grammy performance. The scream you refer to is actually an inhale if you listen closely. AJ sang this again in public twice if I recall, but never reproduced that exact sound. One more point. At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct verbrattos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and tighter one to close the word. Never would I imagine a 9 year old with that much control and musical variety and wisdom. Check it out. Merry Christmas.

Angelina's version is definitely the best I've heard, although I really still like Bette Midlers version from Hocus Pocus, that last part is so good.

Bob, Mr. Rob Christie said in an interview, I saw part of it, that AJ will finish Highschool in spring 2023 AND THEN bring out her album of originals. We can happily anticipate this.

Angelina's family is truly multicultural. I also read about a reactor that worked with specially gifted children. He claimed that Angelina shows clear signs of belonging to that group of children. I have looked a little at what can characterize these "gifted" children. To me, Angelina appears as a clear member of the small group of the population. But of course that's just an assumption on my part.
Spirit Wolf is an Angelina "Angel" who worked for years with gifted children, and she commented similarly on a reaction to Shop 31, when he reacted to Angelina singing "I'd rather go blind" on 10 May 2022.
Nice video. I watched your first reaction to this song. It's safe to say that it shook you up. I know exactly how you felt. It was my first time exposure to something so extraordinary. It's been almost 3 years now since that night and I still in awe when I see and hear it again. Every time and I watch a lot of reaction videos. All Angelina reactions. I think this song should be analyzed and discussed on someone's channel. I've watched I don't know how many singers, vocal coaches and just regular people reactions after the first I put a spell on you. Priceless. But I think it would be great if someone that knows music could do it after the shock has worn off a little. Maybe it's just me but I think this performance is on a level that is probably more than simply amazing. Every word, phrase and her body language is so much more than just normal. Keep reacting to Angelina and I will keep watching.

Performance of " I PUTA SPELL ON YOU " on " little big stars " Germany 🇩🇪 unfortunately no English subtitles for interaction with the host, still a good funny watch .Performance at 4.40 notice the vocals are more cleaner little screaming and growls , she was advised not to perform as she did aged 9 for fear of harming her voice. the host is quite funny even if he wants to be the star.notice mum " Sara " and " grandmother " mery " in the audience looking extremely proud.
The German host presented her as 10 years old, but she had probably just turned 11 a day or two before recording.
Always enjoy your reactions. It is funny about "age" and Angelina... I think it both is and isn't important in a way that is hard to explain... I don't think she was ever a "child singer" in the usual sense - at every age there was a greatness about her singing that transcended her age, yet was all the more remarkable for her age... if you see what I mean...
At age 6 she was a child singer in that booth for the first time. Showing promise and ability. Then she took off her shoes and everything changed
