When my grandson was about 9mos old we were in New Orleans at one of his out door concerts at a casino. Mr. Osborne passed the mic around to people in the audience and my grandson took it from me and started to sing the wo wo verse. Everyone there almost fell out watching a 9mo old sing with Mr Osborne. My grandson was determined to not give the mic back. He is 22 now and everytime I hear this song it brings me back to that day. Love you Mr. Osborne.
I grew up in such a very special time to even know about this timeless classic. THANK YOU LORD JESUS, and thank you Jeffrey for delivering your gifts to all of us.
I’m 54 and I cry every time I hear music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. I took my youth for granted not realizing that that was the golden age of pop culture and especially R&B. I so wish I could go back to those days.
Jeffrey, James Ingram, Michael McDonald, George Benson, Peabo Bryson, The O'Jays, Alli Ollie Woodson, Dennis Williams(The Temptations), The Manhattans( Gerald Alston), Earth, Wind & Fire... and the list goes on...Were/are great effortless singers...Rip to the departed and blessings to the rest still alive.
JAVIER ORTEGON Too true! I noticed that the current fashion trend is leaning toward that of the 80s; i.e., neon colors, etc... Maybe we will get lucky, and somewhere along the way, we will get a resurgence of good music in the style of that which is known as the 80s!! :-)
Gigi80sGurl You're so right! The good stuff, like this song, for example, has your hand reaching for the volume button immediately, so you can blast and enjoy. Nowadays, we still reach for the volume button, but to turn it down, lol!
I saw Jeffery live in Las Vegas! He was spectacular!! The best moment ever was our table was adjacent to the stage so I was literally front and center of the stage Jeffery kneeled down during the “Woo Woo” song took my hand and sang that song to me!!! Held my hand the whole song and belted out that song gazing into my eyes Holy Hell! I’ll never ever forget that Thank you Jeffery Osborn P.S I’ll be honest… I don’t remember the exact year or the venue because my best friend lived there at the time and I was lucky to see many shows in Las Vegas but I’ll damn sure NEVER forget that! 😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰🥰
I’m 31 and I’ve been listening to songs like this since I was a baby... I love this music, and my son is already being groomed to love this music too.. 🔥✊🏿
YES! I can just see George Michael singing, "Maybe... Just ONE MORE TRYYYY!" and Luther's sweet, "Stop! I love you Stop!", just such heart in those 80s songs you just don't see a bunch of anymore. Once or twice a year I'm impressed by a song, back then it was monthly!!!
I would give up my pay raises for the rest of my career to get music back like that again. I am a 42 year old man with a memory like nobody I know. And when I play this in front of my friends none of them remember it. Then they proceed to put the station back to Today's GARBAGE. And to add one more thing, (some may say I am off base with this) But I think a little music like this back in our souls just might help bring love and emotion back to this country. Just a thought. I know things were not perfect in the 80's, But wow what a decade to have lived. The new kids, and younger people just have no idea. SAD
agreed. I remember this in like 1991 since it was on family mixtapes, but it seems like one of those 80s songs that just dropped off the radar. I also wish there was more soulful romantic music these days (although Bruno Mars is pretty close and keeps the past alive imo).
This is the "ERA" that made "America" great for music is the "FOOD" & language of LOVE*... The "SOUL" of a nation can be measured by its creative geniuses...
This brotha is 71 years young and at the 2019 stone soul event he was the best performance. Running up and down the isles .Engaged the crowd in the Woo Woo song letting people sing his chorus it was a great time and he wasn't scared to get in mix with the people.
They were popular in the 1980s -- among a bunch of male singers with quality voices who performed ballads: Jeffrey Osborne, Luther VanDross, Lionel Richie, Peabo Bryson, Billy Ocean, Alexander O'Neal, Freddie Jackson, James Ingram, Frankie Beverly -- maybe I missed a couple. (Jeffrey Osborne's voice was so rich and expansive; I always imagined he could sing opera.) There were some outstanding female singers during those years singing love songs as well: Anita Baker, Angie Bofill, Regina Belle, Phyllis Hyman, and Randy Crawford.
It is this kind of music (R & B, Soul, Jazz, Gospel etc. ) that held us - Blacks in South Africa with African Americans for years during our struggle for freedom. I still believe no one will break it!
I agree, he was underrated, bet he could sing opera with that voice. I also agree the 80s produced so many ballad singers with quality voices -- Billy Ocean, James Ingram, Peobe Bryson, Luther VanDross, Lionel Richie, Freddie Jackson, Frankie Beverly; then there were the women: Randy Crawford, Anita Baker, Regina Belle, Stephanie Mills. A lot of romantic songs then, too. Many were underrated and forgotten.
I couldn't agree more. Melted me the first time I saw the video. The genuineness of classical music has no rival. They don't make music like this anymore 🤞🏽
A GenX 54 year young still blasting this in my little convertible bmw ..call her my barbie car ..this song gives me such calming peace ..we had the best music ever ❤❤❤❤
"I can't hold back What I feel inside It's just a fact That you should be mine......." This is SUCH an awesome song, & the story behind how it got its name is even more so. "The Woo Woo Song" is the title in parentheses because his little daughter did not know the exact title, so she always identified the song, saying "Daddy, sing "The Woo Woo Song!", Jeffrey thus affectionately put that parenthetical title in.
When this first came out, I thought he was saying "Woo Woo Woo" as well (and I was 11). Once I heard the real name of the song and was told he was saying "and you-ooh-ooh-ooh," it was too late - I couldn't unhear it - still can't.
I have been bumping this song all over town with the windows down. Several old heads was jamming while I was cruising by. I love it sooooo much. BTW: I am only 28 years of age and I love all types of oldies. 💖😊😍😘
Queen of Locks girl, I'm 33 turning 34 November, and i love 80s songs to death, and the fact that this song it was realised 1986 the year I was born I love it even more now!
Loved this song as a kid. I remember recording it from the radio onto a cassette tape (yes, cassette-lol!) and listening over and over. Brings back so many memories from that period.
I'm 47, been listening to Jeffrey since the 80's at my mom's cleaning house, my aunt's card parties, my other aunt's car and my uncle blasting music on the weekend! So glad I grew up learning all the good BLACK AMERCIAN music I experienced!
I’m 27 and I just love the 80’s especially the R&B. I can thank my dad for that. You can just feel that the compositions were made to live on forever. So much emotion put on it. I feel like a complete weirdo since I don’t have many of my age to relate with this, especially on latin america.
This has the same feel as Phil Collins "One more night" a sad but comforting song/video in a closed restaurant with the chairs up where a singer pours out their feelings about a love they can't seem to have.
This video and song typifies why "back in the day" we did NOT have all of the shootings, and fighting, that we are plagued with today. We men love and respected our girls and women, and life was about love and happiness. You could understand all of the words in songs back then, and we lived in a much happier time, "back in the day".
80's and 70's music, not disco, and early 90's is all I listen too. Maybe it's like my grandmother used to say "that music is awful" talking bout 80's and 70's but I think it goes a little deeper than that with this new stuff. She really did not like music to begin with. My opinion, Peace
Man,where are all the good songs like this anymore?! Music needs to jump back to the 80's where it didn't matter what you looked like or how much ass you showed. Just raw talent and the ability to sing.....
My mom was an RN and she worked late hrs. As long as we followed her rules and kept the house clean, she'd come home, take a nap and take us downtown. Give anything anything we wanted. New shoes, games, clothes, toys, anything. She'd always say "hand me my reffa," and we'd go to the kitchen drawer and get a pill bottle with lots of joints in it. She'd take a hit and say "get dressed." We'd brush our teeth, put on our best clothes and catch a cab to town. She was such a strict but loving mother. She taught us how to be loving while still teaching responsibility in our children. She helped me be a good mother. I love my mama to life. She'd always say "you wanna talk to mama about anything?" But we were just glad she was home. That's my girl❤💗❤💗❤💗❤
Just saw Jeffrey in concert for the 5th time, and it never gets old. He didn't do it this time but the concert before this one I got the chance to Woo Woo Woo with him when he walked around, and sneak in a hug. I will never forget that night. Glad my friends captured the video and me and my fav artist of all time. Love you Jeffrey!
R&B slow jams seem like the most contemporary kind of 80s music, since there's of course still music like this being made. I wish this song could make a comeback, I love this smooth melodic sound, always heard it on tapes growing up in the early 90s.
Back in 2015 Jeffrey Osborne was at the kblx Stone Soul ask people to sing this song so you gave me the microphone and I started to sing people like damn you sound better than Jeffrey and I don't like what for real stage name is kasim Soul smooth from Oakland California where I'm at Tupac Shakur was an inspiration of his song play your cards right best friend is name the gov and his best friend too so Tupac is still alive I be very very happy cuz I can I like to see him again in good health and smoking some good trees grapes Girl Scout cookies
I'd be honored if some fans of late 70s/early 80s ballads would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES by Michael McDonald, WE'RE ALL ALONE by Boz Scaggs, and JUST ONCE by Quincy Jones on my YT channel in tribute to the masters of melodic groove. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and peace.
My dad used to always play this song and tell me it’s how he got my nickname “woo woo”. He loved it so much, he passed away a year ago and his birthday is tomorrow. Hearing this made me cry. I wish he could listen to it again. I love you dad -woo woo
Saw Jeffrey at First Avenue (Prince’s club in Minneapolis) in 1984. Woo Woo was a big hit at that time, and I didn’t know why I loved it so much. It’s Feb 2022 now. Still think he’s the best vocalist ever. 😉
I saw him perform at BB King in Time Square New York years ago... Unbelievable!!!! He Saaang all night... His Voice was on point as if I was listening to his album.... He bought the house down with this song.... THANK YOU Sir for a GREAT Show😘
Hi Wendy, Thank you for been a true fan through the years . If you dont mind inbox me your digit so i can text and get to know a true fan much better .
This song is still so relevant. We're studying Shakespeare and I'm using it to help students define the word, woo based on the context clues in the song! It's a stretch but it works every time. Lol. I love it!
I sang this song when I was station at FT Carson Colo. It was a talent contest where I tied for 2nd place. I was nervous as hell but I remembered all the words.. lol
To me, his best song. Jeffrey Osborne is singing from the heart on this one. This is what most men would love to tell the woman they are digin on...I know I would!!!!!
OMGOODNESS!!!! SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE!!!! ONE OF THE GREATEST ARTIST EVER!!! Along with honorable mentions: James Ingram, Howard Hewitt, Peobo Bryson, Freddy Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Glenn Jones, Kenny Lattimore, Johnnie Gill, Tony Terry, and there are a few others that I am forgetting. This was when music was music.
I do wholeheartedly agree with you, i am a day away of turning 60 and just like you I remember as if it was yesterday, names, tracks , was it a hit, even some of my older siblings or friend are like; who is that. That was the time songs had meanings!! Just saw Jeffrey 2 weeks ago for the so many times and nothing in his voice has changed, except the guy is about to turn 72 ! Let me tell you he looks like 45, with out the Afro & dancing away like back in the days of Ltd. God bless him!
I'm 45 years old, born in late 1975, & I just love this song. I can remember my mother singing this song all the time. R.I.P. Moms.

How is he not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Today's singers can't touch him.

agree 1000%
He has his own hall ! He don't need theirs!
One of the Greatest voices in the history of SOUL MUSIC...
Especially when you consider the song Love Ballad. He was the singer of that song in the group LTD. Jeffery is a legend!
Jeffrey Osbourne sang his songs like no one else could. What a unique voice. Listening to Jeffrey Osbourne is like a breath of fresh air.

R&B slow jams seem like the most contemporary kind of 80s music, since there's of course still music like this being made. I wish this song could make a comeback, I love this smooth melodic sound, always heard it on tapes growing up in the early 90s.
I swear these are my jamz! 23 year old. I don't care!!!!! Moooood forever ❤💯
Jemelia Munda So glad you're a young lady who appreciates great classics! My kids (21 & 24) are finally starting to get into ole skool too!
Old soul
Woo is me! This song gets me every time - the voice, the production, the mood, the honesty, the unflinching romanticism.

December🙌

This song is still so relevant. We're studying Shakespeare and I'm using it to help students define the word, woo based on the context clues in the song! It's a stretch but it works every time. Lol. I love it!
music with meaning, soul, and is easily understood by all. Where is the world today headed?
Love this song and loved him with LTD. This is the good music, that we don't have much of now.

Truth Indeed
Yes yes you got it 100% right this was music when it actually was music not this clip clap garbage music now these days.
I'm going to club Myron 😁 Jeffrey sung this song with excellence 🎤
Music needs to come back like this and give us a good fresh air inside our lungs. Wow, God please give us souls like Jeffery Osborne back.
