The first bbq place is 마포갈매기 which is a franchise specializing pork skirtmeat.
Recommendation level) eh, eh.
I am salivating while watching this. I am going to Korea in April and this video is getting me so excited.
I love your genuine reactions and enthusiasm. Joy to watch.
April is an excellent time to come and visit... you will love it! (And yes, get excited about the food 🙂)
welcome!
0:47 The "egg" is probably similar to how steamed egg is made. The thing the server puts on the rim is mixture of eggs and water (about 50:50 ratio)
This can also be done at home easily as you just need to put the mixture on a bowl and get the steamed egg after 3~4 minutes in microwave.
Use of spoon is recommended as it is quite difficult (and can become messy) to use chopsticks on it.
1:14 The circular "wrap" is very thinly sliced pickled moo (radish/daikon). It's a sort of palette cleanser and very refreshing. These are typically served for pork BBQ.
Beef BBQ usually comes with the leafy kinds of wraps, although you can also get the leafy kinds for pork BBQ.
Thank you for such an amazing, and thoughtful, comment 🙌
We had no idea the eggs were a 50:50 blend of water, but they were certainly delicious, and I think we will have to try this at home 😀
The pickled moo was very refreshing. We actually wrapped the meat in it too (which you are probably not supposed to do), but that too was very good 👏
I think we were having too much fun, because we did use the salad to make some leafy wraps and they were so, so good. However, we don't have footage from it for some reason 😅 Thanks again for the awesome comment 🙌
Love that you guys are living it up (and experiencing some BBQ)! Koreans bring so much respect and skill to the art of cooking/serving meat. It's humbling, and extremely tasty 🙂
Humbling and extremely tasty is the perfect way to describe Korean cuisine 👏 We loved it and had so much fun with it all 😃
I and my friends all miss Seoul and Busan so much! We will all go back to Korea next year again!
We totally understand, they are such amazing places 🇰🇷👏 So excited for your trip next year 🧳✈️
I miss Seoul too when I cannot be there! It is great in so many ways...
Merry Christmas, Passport Couple.
Aww, Merry Christmas to you too 🎄😊
Korean food pursues the original taste of ingredients
Amazing and great video intoducing Seoul!
Just FYI for future traveler of Seoul,
KFC in Korea where you visited called “생활맥주(meaning Life Beer)", which is a chain store that you can find easily in Seoul.
10:04 We call it as "ssam-jang", different with gochu-jang and 된장.
I have found several smile points from your video clip.. thanks and good-luck The Passport Couple
I accidentally saw your video. It was very interesting. A true trip to Korea is not limited to Seoul. I recommend this place. Seoul, Suwon, Daejeon, Gwangju, Busan, Jeju and Ulsan These are big cities and it will be convenient for you to travel.
Wow Look amazing!!
Eventhough I am Korean, I 've never been the place like Speakeasy ..You guys had a nice experience!😊
im jealous that you guys are traveling full-time wow... have fun in korea
I absolutely love how you both enjoyed Korea!!!
Amazing country 🇰🇷
Next time, try kimchi with tobu together.
Wow... wonderful~! I think not only Korean beef & pork bbq but also charcoal grilled chicken (barbecue) is pretty famous in Korea. Bless your heart! I think you guys should've eaten the basic fried chicken from that brand "Kyochon chicken." Crazy famous in here! Thank you for your awesome VID!
Yes - the standard Kyochon chicken is wonderful! They do it right 😁
This Korean BBQ looked so good. Enjoyed all your cute comments.
I work in the neighborhood. Alleys and restaurants look familiar. Hope your jouney goes on with more pleasant surprises. :)
They are a pretty couple who are cute, smart, and try to know the culture of another country well. I watched a few videos,. and i felt that this couple;s understanding of other country's culture was high. 👍👍👍
I especially like this women;s smiling . she is the type person who is be loved wherever she goes.

The Korean bbq looked amazing! That was such an interesting experience. We learned so much from you guys with the egg, scissors, and We loved the OMG counter! What a cool speakeasy that y’all visited. We loved watching Alicia’s excitement taking Nate to this surprise ❤
Thanks guys 🙌 It was such a fun experience and we were learning on the fly, but having tons of fun 😅 And Alicia is amazing and always finds the coolest places 👏
oh man, I really loved it that you looked up how to eat kbbq at the kbbq restaurant. So many people miss out on all the combination of flavors you're supposed to have by dipping the meat in the onion soy sauce, the ssamjang, and eating it together with the grilled kimchi. The lettuce and green leafy vegetables (called ssam) has to be ordered separately in some places. But when you add the meat, grilled garlic, kimchi, little bit of rice, and the ssamgang is where it's at. I really miss kbbq in Korea. You can literally go to any spot and it's leaps and bounds over what they have in LA. In LA, you might find 2 exceptional kbbq places but you'd have to wait forever!!! I ain't got no time to wait!!
We had to, we didn't want to miss out on all of those flavors. And we agree with you, it is tough to replicate KBBQ in other countries. We have tried and while it was good, and tons of fun, it wasn't quite the same. The next time we go to Korea, I think we are going to have to eat KBBQ every night 👏
just to clarifies, the sauce you dipped the pork was actually just the onions with soy sauce, not the sesame oil
At bbq you are supposed to make lettuce wraps with the meats and side dishes. You mix the flavours that way.
The thin white circular thing is pickled radish. You put it into your lettuce wraps to cut into the fat - it's a palate cleanser. It looks like she gave you aged kimchi on the side. You always grill aged kimchi (not new kimchi).
Haha the signs for the fried chicken actually did say “angry bird” in Korean! probably just the restaurant’s marketing 😭😭
That is hilarious thanks for sharing 🙌 And you are right, that is fantastic marketing 👏
I enjoyed this video. I love your filming style!
The sauce you guys ate with Korean BBQ is called Ssamjang. Ssamjang has many ingredients, but you can make Ssamjang easily by mixing doenjang with gochujang. Of course, The easiest way is you go out and buy Ssam-jang lol
it's early in canada but i'll eat somme korean bbq RN
envy you😁
I love the bar!!
Such an awesome spot, we loved it too 🇰🇷👏
Omg beer in pyrex??? I will be doing that from now on lol
6:49 surprisingly they're Angry birds and though it's written in Korean alphabets, it's English, not Korean. (Aengeuri Beodeu). They are not general cuisine names but the restaurant named their menus fancy names.
These guys are hilarious!
I know in US your used to say tofu but in Korea 🇰🇷 you pronounce it dobu. I would love to see other videos.
2:41 I think the beef is over-cooked.The softness gone, and the juice evaporates a lot.
The chicken looked delicious.
The translation was right. 앵그리버드 literally means angry bird. I think they named it after the angry bird game
ppl who visit korea should plan ahead to have locals be their tour guide
Next time, please visit to Busan.
Mostly, scissor must used on right hand.
She used it with left hand.
That's why they fly. ha ha...
Korean Abdul JaBarbeque
garlic bombard
We love garlic 🧄 💛
😅 um that wasn't sesame oil. that was just vinegar with a bit of soy sauce. still would be a good taste with the meat. in some places, they serve a bunch of chives (부추 bu-chu) with similar dressing and it also goes really well with meat.
Thank you for the tips 🙌 We both love chives so that sounds like an amazing combination 😀
@@ThePassportCouple I realized I forgot to add: the onions in the video also make nice addition to the ssam wrap 😋 I like to add as many side veggies and ssamjang as offered. It's all about that flavor combination 🤌💗
The first barbeque place you went was 'All you can eat restaurant'...😀
Have you ever been to Jeju?
Not yet, but we definitely want to travel there one day 🧳✈️
That's 'SSAm Jang' not 'Go Chu Jang'. 😃😃
Thank you for letting us know, we appreciate it 🙌
And it also happens to be very delicious! 😁
Korea got many fry chicken franchises there on point really good Best in the World
i♡K
We do too 🇰🇷💛
So sad T you were supposed to wrap meat with lettuce and peraala leaf)with others side dish(ex,garlic . A slice of radish(round shape u didnt know what those were) sauce in it).
Alicia actually did make a lettuce wrap and loved it 🥬 I don’t know why I didn’t have any footage of it, but she really liked it. Next time, we will put a slice of radish in there too because we did not know to do that. Thanks for sharing these tips, we are excited to have even more flavorful combinations to try on our next Korean BBQ adventure 😀
@@ThePassportCouple yes I have read the same comment u had left before^^. It was a relief.
Don't worry, push the button to your hearts content it's not rude at all. It would have been perfectly fine to call them over to ask, "how do we eat this?" Koreans like things done "bbah-li, bbah-li" fast, and efficient. I can't believe I missed your videos, been searching Korea vlogs for a few months very often and never came across your channel.
it actually says "Angry Bird" on the menus.
I had a look at your Patreon and noticed you only have a single one. And no other support options. A channel your size should be making a couple thousand a month in community support. Can I give a few suggestions?
Thanks for checking our our channel and Patreon account, it means a lot to us 😀 And yes, we are always open to suggestions 🙌
@@ThePassportCouple I just emailed you with the subject: "Opportunity for creators: Blessa"
Korea food is not that expensive compare America but still expensive than Thailand like that country
i thought you guys are kidnapped or something bc its been such a long since last upload, i am pretty sure you guys are at different country by now, i guess japan maybe
Willingly kidnapped by our families, yes 😀 We are currently, and very temporarily, back in the states to catch up with family, and friends, before heading out for another year of adventures in 2023 (Japan is high on that list though not yet confirmed). We have more videos coming out very, very soon. Thanks you so much for leaving us a comment, it really means a lot to us 🙌
Meat a bit over cooked. 2 less minutes would've been better.
Thanks for the tip 🙌
4:36 dats not sesame oil and salt lol. It's pickled onion with soy sauce and vinegar. Guess they didn't provide sesame oil and salt there.
👋😀👏😀

And this is why I gain 13478923lbs when I visit Korea 🥲😂
Yes, we totally get that 😀 But it is totally worth it, the food is incredible 👏
