- I take my life in my hands this time by cycling along the old A41 Bicester Road near Waddesdon. I wanted to see how the new section of road looked on the ground. I'm sure it will be a nicer experience when all the roads are finished and the cycleway is in place.

Good video thanks
Nice driving from that van at the beginning…
Yeah, he wasn't paying attention!
Great piece of new road, about time they did something to sort the golden gates x roads out , accident blackspot , I moved here 13 years ago from Hazlemere it ysed to take me 15 mins max to get to Westcott, now who can tell , extra traffic lights new roundabouts etc etc and the fields flood more and more , I wonder why
I'm in Aston Clinton and cycle over that way frequently. I had no idea the A41 was being re-routed! I don't understand where exactly this is, or what they've done!
The desecration caused by HS2 makes me too sad. More frequently, i cycle in the hills (St Leonards, Hawridge, Wendover) and I'm reminded of it all too often. Even cycling in the opposite direction, to the Claydons...it's everywhere. So sad.
If you have a look at my other videos from the air it becomes clearer. Waddesdon to Thame Valley Viaduct is what you should look at. One day all the mess will be gone and I look forward to that. It's a few years away yet though.
@@KarlVaughan thank you I shall take a look!
50 years ago the A41 out of Aylesbury to Bicester was just a continuous uninterrupted stretch of road. There are now 13 roundabouts - I counted 😮
@@slewisedwards I know ...ever tryed the bicester aylesbury under 10 min. Target !!!! Ha ha ha ... in an effing mini ha ha ..get it ...
HS2 listening to concerns of overspend so cut costs by not putting cycle lane in
why is a road build counted as a rail build cost?
@@highpath4776because it's forced to change routes. Silly really
@@MrLOFTYBOBBY in my experience, as a frequent A41 driver there would be no point, and in fact would raise the risks, to have only a short piece of cycleway alongside the road. If a cycleway could be put in from Aylesbury to Bicester then great, I'd love to see that but in any universe that's pie in the sky. You cannot have a half kilometre stretch of cycleway that spits a cyclist back into the main stream of traffic on a 60mph single carriageway. The risks are colossal, and too often ignored or misunderstood in infrastructure campaigning.
I imagine no cycleway because Waddesdon - Berryfields has the award-winning, off-road, Greenway linking them and they'd much rather that was used instead.
Yes, of course :)
Plus surely the old course of the A41 will eventually be free for pedallers, ramblers etc... would make some sense.
HS2 is nearly as much about road building as it is about a railway. To rub it in, there's been no work to improve the repeated flooding at the A41 bridge by Aylesbury Parkway station. Result - no bgr can use the new road.
They want plant some trees wat a hell hole
When is the new road to Waddesdon meant to open?
The last of the road closures is in October so it should be soon after that.
Opened this morning.
No cycleway because cyclists do not pay tax for building a cycleway , hey lets have a cycleway tax ...good idea ...
The average cyclist in UK pays more tax towards roads than the average motorist - fact!
This is because road building and maintenance costs come out of multiple tax sources, such as income tax, council tax, VAT, etc. Not just VED and fuel tax. Your average cyclist in the UK is wealthier than your average motorist, they tend to ride for altruistic or health based reasons, rather than as a cost saving measure (80% also own cars). The average UK cyclist tends to have a higher income and live in a bigger house than the average motorist, hence contributing more through income tax and council tax.
@@shm5547 interesting words there!!! Now I know it is September, and by this comment of yours , you have been cycling in the Welsh hills , and tasting the local ,er, oh yes champignons... hope it did not rain to much , and hopefully will never personally come across you ...good luck ... thankfully I do not have to live in a society as you are within , with your delusions ,brought about by champignons, as long in time as others have to .... hey champignons never made me delusional as you.... @@adrianpeters2413 Mate it seems a bit hypocritical to accuse someone else of MH issues when you're like this 😂
Everyone who pays any tax of any sort pays for all the infrastructure that benefits you and the rest of us. But you know that already.
Exactly! And that man's comment is ridiculous. He surely must have friends or family that cycle; perhaps he doesn't care about their safety. @@deburred-947
