I'm so glad that Sophie Lancaster is still remembered and her story is still told. I was a baby bat in the late 90s early 00s and it was very dangerous going out as a goth in the UK at that time. I was physically attacked on multiple occasions by strangers, and had things thrown at me and insults yelled at me every time I left the house by teens and adults alike, even if I was with my dad and walking past some 40-something year olds. Knife crime was rampant at that time and huge gangs of teens would congregate outside McDonalds everywhere in particular and would attack people. Living in the US now, Americans are very surprised when I explain how it was.
